I love AFI and this music is good, but its a change. I became a fan from their old stuff, the more punk. But if they are changeing their genre I will still listen to them no matter what. Hopefully they have sucess with the new genre!

Pop is very far from what AFI is today. this song, maybe...but not all of their stuff. Honestly, the first time i heard this song, i loved it. i still love it. AFI makes greater music today than they ever did, they improve with every album. And i am a HUGE fan of old AFI as well just so you understand that im not the fan who just listens to today's AFI. i mean i respect your opinion about the differences between today's and yesterday's AFI. but calling them pop is INCREDIBLY ignorant.

@luminousNZ you need to get some of your facts straight, they had about 5 studio albums by 2000, then when they got a major record label (they left nitro records and joined dreamworks i think) they made sing the sorrow, decemberunderground, and crash love. sing the sorrow is a more punk/punk rock sound and then DU and CL are pop punk. and i said "their newest album is pop punk," i never said anything about their older music, i love all their songs/albums from pre-major record label and StS

i am in love with afi. their music is more than just words and a beat...it has so much meaning. i sound sappy but its the truth. when i knew they had a new song i almost cried. and of course the band had to progress and change their sound...they had to as their lives took new turns.

Love their old stuff, but I think if they don't change and progress everyone would be sick of them. If I want punk, I listen to their old stuff, if I want the new stuff I listen to that. We have not lost old AFI, its still there. I myself feel that every album is where I am in life, maybe its cause I'm roughly their same age. Every band progresses, and consider that a good thing. AFI would not be around if not.

I have all their labums, because, even though they've changed the style of their music, I feel that they've evolved and that's a necessary thing for a band to do.

They'll go back to the BSITS style in some of their future albums, all bands experiment with different styles I guess.

I know what you mean though. It doesn't sound like AFI in that sense, but it's still them. they have the same message and put the same energy into their performances.

sing the sorrow was the fall, look at the leaves artwork and they how kind of fell away from their old sound

decemberunderground was winter obviously, 12/21 winter solstice, love like winter, the frozen tree artwork'n stuff

spring is after winter which means the new album will probably have a poppy feel

they helped start the straight edge movement, they all are STRAIGHTEDGE and vegans. they were one of the biggest hardcore/punk bands of all time at one point. look it up.

They did help start it, only because the two frontmen were straightedge...but not as a whole band.
