Is f...ked up how Social Security annual increase was stopped, must of the Social Security receipients are elderly and compare to other aids the annual increase of Social Security wasn't much anyways.Along with eliminating Social Security increase the budget plan should have also included eliminating Sec 8 and Welfare except food stamps or medical insurance.

To all my democrat friends who voted for mr oblama,,, Please list, for all of us, what experience oblama has in Budgeting, Business Management, Fiscal Responisbility or anything to do with spending OUR MONEY.
One really has to appreciate the creativity employed by the Cato institute. Starting at the 1:00 mark, there is a book titled "Global Tax" showing a full cover above Dan Mitchell's left shoulder. Nice placement.
Agreed. Here's an idea. Get rid of the entire economic advisory board at the White House and apoint Dan Mitchell the sole advisor. He seems to know more about economic policies than the present commitee. Whats important is that Mr.Mitchell not only knows economic thoery in it's FULL scope(Keynesian, Austrian, Monetarist, theories.... ) but he understands their applications presently in the US, historically, and how policies in other nations effect their economic growth.

It's interesting the only people complaining about the budget are rich/wealthy people. They have been milking the country through hiding money in Swiss accounts, lobbying and utilizing tax loop holes. The only people who have been paying taxes in the country are the honest ones and the ones who believed thier tax dollars were actually being used for all American citizens. What if the people who actually pay taxes stop paying them? Rich people want pay for their own parties. They'll hoard!
pallenaf, I disagree. I'm not rich, yet I'm against this budget. It's $3.6 trillion.
1. We can't afford it. It'll increase the debt.
2. The money is not efficiently allocated. There are several federal departments that could and should be eliminated: Agriculture, Education, and Energy, to name a few. That would save hundreds of billions of dollars. We spend hundreds of billions more overseas. We have troops in 140 countries; subtract Iraq and Afghanistan - how many does that leave?
sorry - that was for pallenaf - the logical contortions that both the left and right have to go through to "agree" with stupid things simply because it came from their side never ceases to amaze me
That's ridiculous. The people who are going to hurt the most from excessive government spending are the middle class.
At the moment we have socialism for the poor, and socialism for the rich. The middle class have nobody standing up for them...and haven't for quite some time.
Econ 101(even at a liberal college) would serve you well.
@bamagirl369 You need to do something in America or your going to end up like Europe. MOST Europeans, even those on the lowest wages, pay over 50% of their income to the government through social security taxes, income tax, Value Reduction Tax (VAT), fuel duty, the list goes on and on and on.
When we had Pay-Go, both were tied together. The current spending would have triggered massive tax increases, which is political suicide. We need another pay as you go law to keep the idiots in their place.
One must realize that FOX is using the CATO Institute for its own agenda, but it's great that the message can still get out to people who need to hear it.
Low taxes are a result of low spending. We need to cut spending, foreign and domestic, before we can cut taxes.

The last thing said was there could be a 59% tax. If that's true, let's start taxing members of congress, for all of their income, at a 90% Tax rate.

It's interesting to see that when people are forced to defend the indefensible logic leaves and generalizations come in.

Any chances Dan Mitchell could run for congress? We need people like him to represent "We the People". He is change I could actually believe in!

He has a LOT more power and influence as the head of a think tank.

CountArtha, Mitchell is a Senior Fellow at Cato. The head is Edward Crane.
