I remember the day that my girl buddy was injured, i was very selfish (and noob) and used every morphine each time I lost 3 bars, she got injured and I had to kill her with her own Desert Eagle, in that precise time, I felt guilty for the death of my bud :(

*SPOILERS* I once went way back when I saw I couldn't save him after injury - the serene overdose would kill him... than at the middle of the game I was like... "for nothing?!" At the end I saw him: "buddy! glad you're... wait... WHAT?!?!"

*Spoiler* Dear god man, it felt so wrong killing all my buddies :'[ I was taken aback by it so much the first time, I died and had t try again.  I ended up spamming grenades then getting to the mounted MG and gunning them down while looking away.

@tehubernessofuber I saved the game just before reaching the area, so it was fine for me to die surprised the first time. Luckily...

After shooting all of them, one of them lied hurt on the ground... Back at the game's beginning I'd even load and try again if the medicine would kill him... never thought I'd choose the "mercy kill" option.

I bet you also had this "never left behind" attitude

@Shadowthedgehog1 Yeah, but I was also very liberal with my grenades. It was pretty rare that one of my buddies was injured before every enemy had been blown to kingdom come. When they were though, I never chose mercy kill. :'[

@tehubernessofuber I never used mercy kill on a regular mission either, I meant to say I had to use it at the ending. I didn't have a healing option, which kinda makes sense.

I've read the stories of the characters after I finished the game... Some of them seemed to be good people, too bad it ended that way.

I played as Paul - the poor guy fled in the middle of a battle because he was afraid of getting killed... cruel fate determined he'd fight alone (+sickness) somewhere else.

We completed a mission together, he was fine and healthy, I made sure of it. I walked away, and when I made it back to Pala and saved it, I looked at my buddies list. "Warren Clyde- Missing" What?! Did he get lost on the way back to Mike's or something? Seriously. He's just...gone. Nowhere. He was fine before...

@Tyman305 Sometimes it's too severe. Morphine isn't medicine. It's an anesthetic. So if you want him to die a comfortable death, you give him the syrettes.

I restarted the game (the story), and in the mission where you're suppost to kill the cheif of police i died, so quarbani helped me. but then when he'd healed me, he started shooting att me. and when my buddies gets wounded i can't heal them, only abandon or shot them. do you know what the problem is?

It's not certain you will meet him on the barge. I met him on the barge, but yet again, there could be someone else there replacing him on your playthrough. I think the buddy appearances are randomized, but each buddy has their own personality traits that define their character.

Franky's kinda bossy and arrogant and very demanding when calling you to help out on missions, unlike Warren who gives a better explanation of the situation...plus he's funny!
