I use one of those from time to time to rinse out my nose and you're not supposed to use salt, you're supposed to some sort of crystal solution. And it doesn't hurt at all. It just feels a little weird at first then you get used to it. I use a salt solution nasal rinse everyday due to hard snot built-up (ew) due to nose surgery in '03 to help my breath through my nose.
