In the U.S.A people can get life sentences for stealing a slice of pizza (3 strike law);100 years for murder, 10 years for killing a puppy. In Canada I know people who did only 3, 4 and 5 years for murder. Crime is still way higher by far in the U.S.A. Why? The disparity exists because crack cocaine is far far more addictive than powder coke. It's hit is 5 times as intense and last only 12 minutes due to crack being the base of cocaine. Crack cocaine is cheaper and is proven to destroy peoples lives and communities more quickly than powder cocaine. It's the method of delivery that affects the potency (assuming equal purity) and the addictiveness of coke. There is, therefore, no difference between the substances themselves. Crack is just coke that's been processed to a point that it's easier to smoke, but you can smoke "powder" (i.e. "freebasing) and you can shoot it (which is a helluva a lot worse than smoking crack). It's all the same and it's all bad news.
