@0797buda: No, it's a Shure MX97XE, mounted in the original Technics headshell that comes with a new turntable or can be bought a a spare part. The turntable is a Technics SL1210MK2.
@marcrhsn cool.. thanks for the reply ..iv got stantons on mine but they have started to skip abit its because of the tone arm ... iv had the deck for about 10 years plus.. very good deck tho. iv got one 1210 m3d the one with the pitch button .. they were recalled because of lead in the paint and are very rare. iv been after another for ages.. the mk5 has a diffrent motor.. what can i say im abit of a geek with hifi...
Audio editing is much easier today, especially at home, but this could be easily done with a reel to reel running at 7.5 or better 15 ips, a splicing block and splicing tape.
@marcrhsn Having done it both ways over the years, still a major undertaking then, because of not having the clips available, etc. Still, what would take a hour digital would be at least 3 hours analog. (assuming you have all your materials at hand copy, records to dub to tape) Don't get me started on splicing on 2 15 ips reels, then having to spend 47 takes hitting 4 cart machines, 2 turntables and a cassette deck in real time to get a mixdown on the third reel to reel.
Obviously early 1974, and Nixon would say, "Leave Me Alone", as Watergate slowly closed in. Gasoline went from around 30 cents a gallon at the end of 1972 (under Phase II of Nixonomics) to roughly double it at the end of 1973 (Phase III of Nixonomics). In August 1973, before the October War and the oil cutoff, inflation ran 1.9% that month, matching all of 1965.
Thank you marcrhsn. I haven't heard this in 35 years. I remember "Hello It's Me" but for the life of me do not remember "Mind Games" ever being on this. Strange that I turned out to be a massive JL fan. Then again, I was only 4. I also clearly remember the way it ends. I seem to remember this and "Spiders and Snakes" by Jim Stafford coming out at roughly the same time. The flip side to that tune was called "Undecided" and it was strange to say the least - even for Jim. LOL :- )
Thank you very much for posting this. I had this record when I was a child. I used to play it for all my friends, we got a big kick out of it.
Question: Is the flip-side of this 45 a funky little instrumental entitled "Ruth's Theme"? If it is, is there any chance you could post it? I would REALLY love to hear it again. Thanks
There are 2 different versions of this 45. One with "The Mistake" on the B-Side and one with "Ruthie's Theme". I've got "Ruthie's Theme" on the B-Side.
I remember hearing this on the radio when I was barely 12 years old. Thanks for posting this.

Q: How did Mötley Crüe's "Smokin' In the Boy's Room" get onto a record that is (allegedly) from 1974? Inquiring minds want to know! :)

@crazyman8472
That's simple, it doesnt't :-)
It's "Brownsville Station - Smokin' In the Boy's Room", released in 1973.

I remember the energy crisis. Odd and even plates. I would go back to those days in a heart beat!

What would be a quick hour's work in a DAW today was a major undertaking in 1974.

@SenorShutter2 I was wrong about the title. It's "Ruthie's Theme".

@marcrhsn "There are 2 different versions of this 45." Wow, I completely forgot that they used to do that!
Oh, the good old days when 45's sometimes had rare B-Sides.
Can't wait to hear "Ruthie's Theme" again. I'm not exaggerating when I say I haven't heard this tune in over 30 YEARS!
Thanks again.
