  • I own a two door 99 neon and a four door 2005 neon and had a 96 neon great cars

  • For air flow. I finally got to the track for some tuning. 11.26@122.66 on only 18psi, 93 and very safe AFR and timing!

  • The "timer" is the wideband. I'd love to have a T850 and may swap one in. They're not cheap though. The 31th ATX is. The gauges work fine. I'm not going to go above 120mph on the street and I don't care at the track. That's what the time slip is for. If I was using a SRT PCM, then I could use the SRT cluster, but I am using MS. I may be using a SRT PCM and DSP soon. The converter is from Pat's Converters in PA. NAN also makes very good converters. The "Boss Hoss" converters are junk.

  • Here's my question about the video. Why invest so much time and money in this swap if you're not going to change the gauges? Those basic neon gauges are so shitty. Don't you care how fast you're going?

  • @bronxboyXXX that auto is a direct decedent of the torqueflites that made MOPAR mean muscle. With the manual valve body and 4200 converter is should be a drag strip demon.

  • @bronxboyXXX I like those cars when they're done well. They're not as cheap as a Neon is for parts though. Plus, I like having a car no one likes or thinks should

    be fast. I am getting tired of it and thinking about changing to an old Colt or just something different.

  • @guhfluh im a neon fan too and i like it cus it one of the best sleepers i have a 2.0 sohc and i love smoking mustangs with it(lot of people have mustangs hear) but theres only one good thing abaut that being auto u dont lose boost when the car shifts

  • @Sharvie831 DCR offers an auto for the SRT, but it isn't cheap. This one is basically the same. Not stock.

  • @thefellowskater I got this one guhfluh.... it's called diffusers. It's to cancel out the parachute effect while drag racing. I've seen up to 3 tenths of a second quicker in the quarter mile doing this...

  • @Shizamy508 Somewhere between 5" and 9" of vacuum at about 900rpm. Not much LOL.

  • stage 4 crower cams for the 2.0 ? there are 2 stage two cams and 2 stage three cams then custom grind ... did you mean stage 3 full race ? and if so why on stock valvetrain ? **facepalm** but i do like the tuning through megatune . whoever set the base map parameters either spent a while doing it or is just had a copy lol

  • @Red97Avenger You can call them Stage 4 "Full Race" if you want. These are Neon cams, not 420a cams and yes there is a Stage 4. Download the .pdf from Crower if you want. 64453N-2 Whoever said it was stock valvetrain? I had "DCR" springs and lightweight retainers, etc., etc. Megatune is old and outdated. Upgrade to Tunerstudio. It wasn't very easy getting it tuned well with these cams for the first time just because the lack of vacuum.

  • @guhfluh the pdf file and the store front page are different . the pdf states stage 4 full race and the storefront has the same cam profile under stage 3 full race . but anyways the morons who designed the website put the 420a under mitsubishi and the ecc dohc neon engine under chrysler , when in all actuality they were all chrysler designed based off the 420a . im still trying to nit pit at the details of the edz / a855 and see how much they are alike .

  • Why does it have a 95 steering wheel? Not hating, love the car wish mine sounded like that, hell wish mine ran!

  • It had an aftermarket wheel which was too small and too close to the turn signals. Every time I turned, I would turn on the windshiled wipers with my knuckles. The small diameter also made it hard to turn without powersteering. I had a friend who liked the wheel I had, so we swapped. I would like to change to a better wheel, but think I may want to use the cruise control buttons for meth, nitrous or 2-step maybe.

  • Nice ride, but one question for fellow tuners, Why cut or punch holes in the back bumper, there plastic so i dont think it is to save weight lol. I am just confused about it, i see it all the time and i dont get the prurpose of it! but again very nice build!

  • It's for air/wind. The bumper acts like a parachute and with the holes, lets the air flow smoother through the bumper. It's only worth a little and only noticeable when trapping over 100mph in the 1/4mi.

    Something came apart in the head on Sunday going to get it tuned, so no numbers for a while:(

  • I actually didn't keep it, I swapped it in. ACR's originally come with slose ratio 5-speeds. I had 5-speeds in my last Neon and broke too many, so I wanted a change. If this 3-spd doesn't last, I may put in a T-850 from a SRT. It's beefier than the Neon T-350.

  • Auto's are more consistant also.

  • Was working ok, but the lockup has stopped working. I checked the valve body out and found some sticking valves, so I fixed that and changed out the lockup solenoind, but it didn't work. I think that solenoid is bad, so I just ordered another one. Problem is I just killed the engine. I broke a valve spring and dropped a valve in #1 cyl

  • @guhfluh How did you break a valve spring? You got me nervous b/c I am thinking about going ahead and putting 18's in my 2.4 at the same time as I bolt the stock SRT turbo up.. You were not using stock springs were ya?

  • @txfirehawk Use Crower springs from Modern Performance and youll be fine. He had DCR springs witch ppl think are crane springs just re-branded. Also Crower stage 4s are HUGE compared to 18s.

  • @Shizamy508 Correct, though Crane springs would be fine for Crane 18's. Crane springs don't work well with Crower cams. It's my belief that there was valve float, but failure analysis showed external damage causing the break. Basically, best bet is to run what the manufacturer recommends for their cams.

  • Probably not as easy as AEM FIC.

  • im using the throttle stop and cant get mine to idle at a steady rpm.. currently it idles around 500-600 when cold then when it gets warm it will idle around 900-1000. I cant get it set to around 900 when first start up because it will idle around 1500 when fully warm its pissing me off.. You think that modern performace iac controller would help or just go with the 4wire iac controller in megasquirt?

  • That's about the best you can do without temp based idle timing advance. The MPx screw will work just the same as the stop for the MS, just easier to adjust. Between that and the 4-wire IAC, get the 4-wire IAC and control it with the MS. Personally I'd like just a on/off FIdle valve. I may actually install one with a evap solenoid I have.

  • damn very nice was it worth the extra trouble to do the 2.4 swap is it that much better then the 2.0 dohc

  • I think so. Others don't. With everything available today you can still have A/C and P/S with a 2.4, so there's nothing to lose. More torque, stronger block, etc.

  • hey are you using the stock pcm to control idle. or are you using megasquirt to tune idle..

  • Throttle stop and MS only right now. No IAC at all to control the idle. The PCM is completely gone now. Only the first start when bone cold gives me trouble.

  • ok so this is a nood question what with the holes on the bumper? im guessing downforce

  • Trapping over 100mph in the quarter it helps a little in trap speed and time. It will allow the air which is normally trapped in the bumper cover to escape.

    It also helps with gas mileage I guess.lol.

  • Yeah, I got tired of breaking the 5-spds so I swapped the built auto in. So far, so good!

  • Only running ~15psi right now on my poor tuning skilz, waiting on the tuner to make some time free so we can put it on the dyno and crank it up!

  • what it dyno at? i got delta 44 on my SRT and on 25psi got 436HP
