  • It's a lot of fun until someone sees you on it, Jezzers...

  • either way its a joy to ride on a moped :) espeically when i own one in vietnam :)

  • It's from 1995 according to end title credit.

  • geil schaut mich an bin ein frosch

  • jeremy looks like a old woman

  • He sounds so Southern England compared to how he is today.

  • Clarkson during his Jeff Lynne phase...

  • how old wuz jeremy when this wuz filmed

  • Vietnam nifty! Asian romance.v v

A white uniform is lovely (^-^*).

However, I came to see the territory situation of Vietnam. Japan also knows cruelty in China.

It is necessary to cooperate with them.

  • It's actually Ho Chi Minh City, but nobody calls it that. They all call it Saigon, and Jerremy did too.

  • thats the same motorcycle "honda" that james ended up getting in the vietnam special

  • this is not a moped

  • look how lame jeremy is dressed

  • buồn quá !

  • he lies!!

  • haha, i don't know English, so i din't understand what he said. Just feel funny.

What was he doing with "Dream II" in VN? want to buy it?

  • @drakukha so you can type perfectly but you don't understand? how does that work out?

  • @clydefields1 "Google translate" did it, not me :D

  • @drakukha oh (;

  • he lookt so young...

  • Why is he wearing the red bandana ?

  • i'm from vietnam, now, whenever people join traffic, they must to wear a "Helmets" , me too, to avoid Traffic Accident

  • And then people thought we didn't think laterally about not buying a car in our country. :P

    Go Vietnam!

  • Hahaha 20p a litre? Those were the days!

  • Life could be so easy...nice vid!!!

  • OMG. hahaha! five people on a moped is something i never thought i would see. HAHA!

  • did anyone see the moped with 5 people on it? -wtf

  • Omg a couple of years ago they did an episode in vietnam and he said he couldn't ride a bike...wot the hell? Anyone notice?

  • @banannas Yes we noticed. Deduction: Clarkson's experiences on this particular moped, in this sort of traffic, convinced him that he couldn't ride a bike -- not confidently, anyway.

  • He must've forgotten.... XD

  • Ya here its called a Honda, even though now Yamaha and Susuki are starting to sum it up too.

  • gosh... how old is this???

    look at clarksons hair.....

  • @MissTicTacToeGirl 16 years old, the show was first aired in jan 1995

  • OMG was that really Jeremy Clarkson. lol at his hair

  • @lilangel2407 From what I read, a certain Mr. Winkler liked looking at the picture of himself jumping the shark as it showed a time he had great legs.

Life happens--that's the point. Stopping it defeats the purpose!

  • 0:00

  • all mopeds look like they are LWB ;)

  • i think indonesia is the asian italy,i mean vietnamese might drive aggressive, but the people are nice,in here (indonesia ),the people are so wild

  • haha indonesia is like vietna, lots of mopeds everywhere, theyre annoying because the drivers drive like crazy drunk morons

  • Love Jezza's fro-mullet... XD

  • that is a scooter.....NOT a moped!

  • I thought that Jeremy Clarckson was never been in Vietnam before 2008 ? And of course on a motorbike ! Even if it's a Moped !

  • I don't think he said in the Veit special that he had never ridden a bike in his life. He just really didn't want to, Also the vespa he was on was much heavyer than this dream, and had a very buckled back wheel. Top Gear is an entertainment show, not a documentary.

  • @bfmv580 I see someone was paying attention during the episode....

It was a badly worn driveshaft, not a buckled wheel.

  • @produKtNZ Well Its the same sort of effect as a buckled wheel, loose and offcentre so it doesn't ride straight and I can imgane it was pretty twitchy when he was turning.

  • jeremy can drive bikes but in vietnam special he dosent drive bikes

  • young jeremy :-D

  • jeremy's hair hahahahahahahaha

  • I guess cuase the bike is n electric start and seems to be atomatic.

  • Here's the thing, almost everything in TopGear is staged. Fake fake fakity fake fake

  • poor bitches

  • In vietnam, you got to be in the whos who circle or else you get ripped off! Being vietnamese or knowing the vietnamese well is very beneficial tou you and worst for tourists! Everyone wins!

  • @chain8899 tourists actually go to vietnam???

  • Now the boss does have a Mercedes.

  • WHAT?!? I thought in the New series of Top Gear, on the Viet Special, Jeremy doesn't know how to drive a motor bike... yet here, he's very comfortable with it? :S

  • @MSI2k

    its a script

  • well at least this one had an electric starter and, I think, automatic gearbox

  • Moh1Z, they're technically a semi-manual gearbox, you change through four gears, buy use no clutch. Nowadays, they also have Suzuki bikes (sorry, forgot the model name) that uses the clutch and is considered really fast...which isn't even really highway speeds for us guys stateside.

  • @MSI2k There were some photos of him training before going on the special too...worth taking it all with a pinch of salt, but enjoying it never-the-less.

  • @MSI2k well he's a blitering pillock so probably forgot how

  • @MSI2k maybe he's senile already??

  • @MSI2k it was all theatrics.

  • @MSI2k He's on a twist and go scooter. anyone can ride them

  • @alexsuchapimp if you look closely it acctualy has butterfly gears not just twist and go its proberly got 4 gears

  • @alexsuchapimp its not a tiwst and go it has butterfly gears they usally have 4 gears on them scooters

  • @MSI2k ya coz by then he got old and fraily unlike this video. he is still young :P

  • @MSI2k maybe he forgot i mean this was like 15 years ago

  • @MSI2k its all planned they do what the producers tell them to do....

  • @MSI2k In the Vietnam Special, what Jeremy said was that he *couldn't* ride a bike. Or to put it more plainly, the terror that he felt while riding the Dream convinced him that he couldn't.

  • @MSI2k

Top Gear is a entertainment show.....

they did it for amusement.....don't believe everything they said.....

  • @MSI2k he loves to lie

  • @MSI2k

Do you think TV programmes tell the truth any of the time? It's the magic of television. Tricks and deception!

  • @MSI2k thats because this show is faky, but I like it LOL

  • @MSI2k It's a moped... no manual gears or a clutch, just a brake and throttle. Anyone can ride one quite easily.

  • @AlanOfAmine09 no pedals, no moped. and the dream is over 50cc over 50cc is a MOTORCYCLE

  • @MSI2k Alot of it is for entertainment value. Thats showbiz!

  • @MSI2k this was filmed 12 plus years before the vietnam special. and he hadn't probably ridden a motorcycle since.

  • Hahahaha! :D

  • 2000 quid for that piece of shit?! I'd rather walk!

  • idk mopeds is used 2 have 50cc

  • Yes, 50cc are mopeds.

  • u can get 50cc motorcycles too. the difference is, is that they are geared.

  • so a 100cc motor is classed as a moped over there right?

  • @dollybird18

Technically, in Madison, WI, mopeds are under 120cc. At least thats what their police dept says.

  • This is old, it's like in the late of 80s and early 90s.

  • i thought that jeremy didn't know how to drive a bike in the vietnam special episode..?

  • This was filmed in the early to middle 90's.. so he probably hasn't ridden one since

  • Top gear is a show not a documentary!!!

  • Well done.. .this wasn't Top Gear. This is from "Clarksons motorworld" I believe the title was

  • lol yeah same thought !!!

  • @floppydisk35 some things are not as they seem...

  • @floppydisk35 thats right, this is what top gear is

  • @floppydisk35 Guys, it IS a T.V. show, not a documentary. But much like yourselves, he does play stupid well in vietnam...

  • @floppydisk35 lol. he stil looks terrified. And he didn't know how to turn on the other because it didn't have electric ignition :)

  • ha ha the very best gas for my dream 100 2!

  • there were kids driving

  • my mom used to have that car but she sell it

  • this video is old

  • at 1:59 it looks like they are 5 on the moped:P

  • look how young Jeremy is!! he must only be in his 70's there!! ha

  • so you saying he is 90 years old?

  • real life of Vietnam. But long long time ago, when a bike was great property. ^^

  • Dream 100....

in Malaysia, they call that the Boon siew Honda.

    the EX5 dream.

old, classic, and it last longer than you can imagine....

  • yup... its really can last for a loooong time indeed... =)

  • I see he called Vietnam Italy of Asia because people mostly use motorcycles as transport. He did say that he had never riden a motorcycle in the Top gear Vietnam Special. If I were him, I could've bought a second hand honda dream instead of that scooter but since this was from a long time ago, then he might have forgotten it AND that wouldn't make the Top Gear Vietnam Special as funny as we all know it.

  • He also called them that because allegedly Italians do not obey laws.

  • A HA! SO HE HAD RODE A 2 WHEELER BEFORE!

During the Vietnam special in 2008 he said he hadn't! Mind you that thing looks automatic.

  • they should use simson mopeds

  • He had hair! :o

  • how old is this. looks like it was shoot in the 80s

  • 95/6

  • these were 90s i think

  • the best quote ever vietnamese is Italian in Asia XD

  • at what age can you drive one of those there?

  • when your feet can touch the pedals!!!!

  • spify neckerchief

  • i cracked up when he said "young dudes"

  • What's with the bandanna and the fro?

  • These are Not Mopeds! They are Motorbikes with 4 speed gear box's, just like the one this afro English Dummy rides in this video. Honda 4 stroke 4 speed. A Moped has no gear box and pedals (hense the name Mo=PED) .

  • No one cares

  • Vietnamese People in Vietnam do care, they are proud of riding real motorbikes, and having a Honda plant in Vietnam. A modep in Vietnam (if you can find one today, is an embarressment.

  • omg

  • What a hellhole of a country.

  • whats up with the dew? aha fro

  • ah, the top gear vietnam special...

  • we now have helmets, or ice cream buckets. Whichever suits their fancy xD or you get fined.

  • damn i wish to see the look on peoples faces if someone went down the street on a hayabusa or a harley

  • the moped is probably more powerful than most harleys.

  • lol definately quiter! you would definatly stand out in one of those!

  • You'd be surprised. The ones that are noisy and I mean loud (120+ db) are : really old scooters with modified exhaust, courier scooters which have engines designed to pull heavy loads therefore noisy & slow, and basically any new scooter with modified exhausts, I think they like their vehicles loud to avoid accidents, vehicles in front tend to swerve alot to avoid potholes, so if you're behind, the louder u are, the less likely they will swerve. I live on 2nd floor, it's frustratingly loud!

  • that may be the reason why all vietnam people buy them instead of harleys^^

  • I saw it the other day, a fast 250+cc motorbike in the middle of the city of saigon, everyone pretty much stared at him, people in vietnam are jealous of those who have faster bikes/scooters because they know these vehicles cost heaps! a150cc scooter costs about $7000 USD, 4 years worth of work, but, a motorbike in a city where the average speed is 25kph is an accident waiting to happen, there's pedestrians, pushbikes, people pushing food carts, people pushing the people pushing food carts.

  • hahahha hell yea! or ninja wearing a ninja outfit hahahah. I had an 1100cc Zx11 Ninja, on halloween i'd dress like a ninja and ride around town =D i got 2 mopeds, French made Peugeots, they are a blast, we are making a moped club where we live.

  • or the newest bat mobile bike LoL , it would be like the hummer of bikes to them, lol

  • Fuck that was funny..."and seating...for 5" very subtle, and extremely funny. "mildly terrified"..."you can ride whichever side of the road takes your fancy"..."

  • Well it's Jeremy Clarkson after all x]

He's always that subtilely funny :P

  • Its time to view my video Honda XRM RS

  • hahahha thats Vietnamese communist innovation for ya

  • You can buy a "dead dogs you name it." lol I'm viet and this video takes me back "ah, good times"

  • HONDA FTW!!!!! ( Honda Ruckus btw)

  • ofcourse this video was made a long time ago....look at jeremy's fro...its huge!!

  • sorry lediep89, wrong person. Im talking about shortbutsweetimos

  • Hello guys, I'm a Vietnamese.

I dont know how long this video was made. But i bet it was long ago, maybe from the 90. Today our moped is way much better (Today is 5/11/2009)

We also have more car,of course they're better, charming and lots of more great things...

Hey lediep89, that comment u were saying, IS IT AN INSULT?

  • You see this video? It was made during Clarkson's earlier years. HOW THE HELL can he ride a moped pretty ok THEN, but is rubbish years later???

I'm assuming people forget how to ride if they haven't ridden a bike in 10 or 15 years?

But, that sounds impossible, since NOBODY forgets how to ride a pedal bike.

BTW, is there chinese pocket-bikes for sale in Vietnam? I'm asking because Top Gear spent about $1,000 U.S. on bikes, but a new pocket bike costs the same, but has more power.

  • cars are a disease. vietnam was one of the last frontiers for these scum known as the car industry

enjoy your traffic, obesity anti-social behavior vietnam!!!

  • i thik thiz ideo was made log time ago. about 10 yrs

  • in vietnam special he complained that he'd never ridden a motorcycle before!!! FAKER!!

  • he said one on a public road before.

  • whatever he is a pussy anyway..

it would be great fun to drive a moped through vietnam

me and a few buddys will do it oo in the autumn.

  • he drove a veyron at 250 mph. i wouldn't ever do that. so he's a champ in my eyes

  • he didn't . It was James May.Ok maybe saying a pussy is maybe overdoing a little bit. he is just mildly yella

  • YES HE DID... at the Race... Against Train

  • They talked about that in many later episodes, that he was drawn back from using the full power of the bugatti because of the speed limits. At least watch TG if u want a proper discussion where i wouldnt be better than you!!

  • does jeremy know how to ride a mopeds before vietnam special?

  • this video must be verry old...alots of old mopeds

  • just look at clarkson, you can tell its from a long time ago

  • or u could read the description

  • aha or that

  • I don't think the youngsters over there dress like that anymore. It's more about western clothes now.

  • Weird Al Yankovic reviews autos? didn't know that

  • Ahahahahaha, look at the pubic hair transplant on his head.

  • I wonder when thiz video was shot? It seems too OLD. i know that bc I'm from Hanoi. Now it's much different. i mean more cars and nicer, more expensive more stylish motorbikes such as Vespa, SH, Dylan, Novou...i got 1 Nouvo, love it

    Welcome to Vietnam!

  • Was he 'feeling the cold' or something?? I mean, wearing a scarf, long sleeve shirt and long trou, in Vietnam! Even my Vietnamese friend in Ho Chi Min finds it rather hot, let alone a westerner...

  • I would love to see clarkson in a a real race with professionals., rather then some rich guy with friends critique vechiles on thier opinion.

  • hahaha 1:47 the guy was pickin his nose then wiped it on his girls dress

  • I watched that with my eyes wide the entire time... JEREMY YOUR HAIR OMG lol

But what happened? He used to be ok with bikes. And knew a little about them and could ride them....

Yet now he HATES THEM SO MUCH, knows NOTHING about them and can't ride them. lol wooow Jeremy lol

  • he looks funny with that hair

    any one agree copy paste

no offence just a comment i like clarkson

  • WTF?! he knows more about bikes in the 80s then the last top gear episode... what the fuck happened? Did he "George Bush" out?

  • if you guys visit south eastern asia, you'll see many people use moped for daily transportation. because it's small, compact, and less fuel consumption.

  • the italian of asia hahahahah i like that

  • lol. jeremy clarkson has known how to ride a bike before. why did he say he doesnt know how to ride a bike in Top Gear Vietnam Special???

  • he probably tried to get out of it. and he did ride it during most of the journey. (and it made good television) that, and he is fat. He wasn't that porky in this one...

  • yup, I like top gear but you can not believe a word any of them say. that whole caravan fire thing was proven to be set up for example.
