i was shocked 13 x while in the shower because the rep turned mine down as he was interigating it and didn't turn it back up... so painful i to thought i was dieing and now i sometimes have anxiety attacks while im in the shower.

RE: SWAN- Bridget testified before Congress about medically documented 31 shocks in 13 minutes and the importance of the Medical Device Safety ACT for patient's safety. She cannot sue because the courts have preempted any lawsuits against the medical device industry. Preemption did not exist until recently, so you were able to sue b/c it was BEFORE preemption. I would suggest that you inform yourself on this issue since you have a defibrillator--and before making a comment like that.

I realize u cant sue medical practice. but my friend there was over 100"000 recalls and they were still using them after the fact... turtle ur killing me smalls, we filed a class action suit 6 years ago well before this hearing... screw these people.. if you had a defective dfeb from medtronic i encourage u to look into a lawyer.. there were so many people they had to split them in catagorys

Fucking news.. 1st 31 times in 13 is absolutly stupid, thats news exageration. that women would of been uncouncious and 15. i"ve had 3 d-febs since i was fourteen... my first one was a medtronic and they were getting sued up the ass with induvidual and class action suit!!!! i got over 40.000$ because i had a deffective one as well damn thing shocked me 7 times lees than a min, 15 times all together.. then i got a St.jude.

RE:SWAN NO ONE can sue a medical device company right now b/c the courts will not allow it. In your day they did. The facts about Bridget's case are true, not exaggerated news. Read her testimony.  No one with a medical device is safe from this happening, not even you. Medtronic is not the only company guilty of this. I would suggest that you do some research and start supporting the MDSA since you have a defib. BTW- She was alert through ALL of the 31 shocks in 13 minutes.

We need to write our senators and state reps and ask them to support the MDSA. Congress seems to be the only solution.

This makes me really mad. The Medical Device Safety Act needs to be passed so this does not happen to anyone else. Doctors will be getting sued for the deceit of the medical device industry. How is this happening in America? Robert Weiner said that the medical device industry is not wrong b/c they did not disobey the FDA? Seriously Mr. Weiner? How about selling a defibrillator lead that you KNOW is bad and not recalling it until 3 years later? Isn't that wrong?

How sad. I can't believe that in this country a medical device company can sell something that they know is bad and not be held accountable. The FDA's job is approve a product they believe is safe. It is the manufacturer's responsibility to maintain the quality of it's products and pull them off of the market when they know they are bad. Without the ability to sue, there is no guarantee of safety for the patient. No ability to sue=no accountibility.
