So I'm at a catch 22 here. Do I like this video or dislike it? I mean would I like it for showing the truth about abuse going on, or should I dislike it for the abuse of animals???
i am writing an essay on this for english class....its just insane how people are able to do this to animals. they never did anything to us, why should we treat them this way?
... What is this about meat eaters go to hell? Humans were designed to eat meat. We have strong jaws for chewing meat. So why would we go to hell if we are designed for eating meat. The people going to hell are the people abusing the animals...
@TreysTyrants I agree that nobody needs to be saying anything like 'meat eaters go to hell', if that was said, that's just wrong. However, I have comment on your other statement. Humans were not designed to eat meat, we are capable of eating and digesting meat, but not efficiently as with a true carnivore. Our bodies, our digestive systems, have far more in common with herbivores. Peace
its americas fault for being more worried about celebrities and crooked politicians they always vote for, instead of the murder of animals, all you meat eaters there is a special place in hell for you cowards!
I think part of what is really heartwarming here for ME- is finding out that my mother has been stealing my inheritance to fund this sort of thing.
She thinks I'm FUCKED UP because I don't really eat that much meat.
So instead of me being able to do what I WANT-- she has decided that buying farm equipment so this sort of thing can continue is a better idea- in her opinion...
I'm supposed to be trying to find a way to make peace with the sinkhole ranch and the Let's Kill The Cows foundation.
Regrettably have seen much worse... you will see sick cows with cancerous tumors and festering legions be separated and sold for beef. They have the distinct smell of rotting flesh about them.Often they are blind and crash into gates when prodded by handlers..yet if they can walk down the chute, they pass USDA inspection. When you buy that Mcdonald's big mac or Jack n the Box hamburger..think about it.
wow.... i feal like puking my guts out after seeing this... and think this doesn't just happen to cows. this happens to thousands of animals daily........
I'd find it difficult not to shoot these people dead given the opportunity. There should be no excuse for treating an animal in those ways. It's a disgrace and makes me feel ashamed to be human.
Where is the respect and sense of humility in these people?
daisey3067- thank-you!!! Good to here a meat eater see how cruel this is, WE are pobally the worst, other than u.k. to farm animals. watch out picking on asians tho, many do not do this, but many do to domestic animals. We are all guilty, it's a shame.
oh there will be consequeces- and where the hell is arnold the terminator on this he and his wife have the power@$ to do something, will they? or is it to po-li- ti-cal for them, well, who gives a shit! help, anyway you two, you have nothing to lose, and alot to gain, just do it,
Oh, good. I was just about to ask whether it was closed down or not. Did the owners and employers of this place get what they deserve for allowing things to get that bad?
This just totally inhumane and the people who work in these places are no longer human. Based on a figure of 22.5 million lbs of meat wasted per day in the US, that's 15,000 cattle, 36,000 hogs, and 2 million chickens are basically thrown away every single day. There is no need to kill so many animals.
There has never been a Saint that was not kind to God's Creatures. A tortured animal would never have been offered to God as a sacrafice. People of true Enlightenment need to lead others into a loud protest against the unspeakable and horrific abuse against animals. We need to eat less and change laws. Animal abuse is something we together can stop!
Univision/Premier Impacto just had the guy who drove the forklift on their program. "I am totally innocent, I ONLY do what the co tells me to do" His lawyer says their are laws that protect him from prosecution. Westland meat prez, says in front of a hearing *first time i was awre of this treatment* The forklift guy worked there 23 yrs NO REPORT OF ABUSE? The Co prez should know whats going on in HIS! Company
Give both and others prison time, FOR Animal abuse and public health ENDANGERMENT
OH MY FUCKING GOD PEOPLE!!!! Those poor cows! They're under alot of pressure and are totally stressed out!!! Look into their eyes people..... They're asking you for help. I don't really care for cows but I do think that all animals deserve peace and a loving affectionate family.... I would buy everyone of these cows if i could..... Please help all animals from slaughter...... Do the right thing, don't ure animal abuse.
THIS sort of thing is why I very carefully read labels, shop at Trader Joe's and ONLY buy beef from free range, vegetarian fed, hormone/antibiotic free sources... as well as every other animal derived source... You can eat meat responsibly. And your health will be much better because of it!
I have to respectfully disagree. You can try your darndest to "eat meat responsibly", but it's simply not possible in our country at this time, possibly never. You are ALWAYS contributing to this system, especially as a milk drinker, and even from organic and free trade cows. Sorry, but the only way to do this right is to go veg!
only in USA people do shit like this .. no where in the world can u buy meat so cheap and there is a reason for it ..it's because they don't force feed and kill sick animals .. that's not to say that other countries are not capable of such cruelty .. they just haven't figured it out it .. i am so ashamed of being a human, specially and American human.
Have you EVER watched PETA's video on the CHINESE fur trade???? Instead of assuming most or even alot of us are like this, look at all the Petcos here and then look at places like China and Iran on it's treatment of animals... give me a break. YES, it does happen here, NO, it's not everyone or even a lot of us... give me a break "switchex"...
Yamagoof. U r correct about the fact that USA is not the only country . the point I was trying to make was that in USA we have the technology that other countries don't. milking machine, mass assembly lines, etc.
now, curious about Iran, since i am originally from Iran. i have not been there since i was 10 but i always assumed they only consumed free range chicken and meat because there was no such thing as a cattle or chicken farms the way we have here. let me know what u know about animal treatment in Iran
The slaughterhouses in the Middle East are far worse than in the USA. There are videos from AnimalsAustralia that will show it. They slice the muscles of the cows legs repeatedly to get them to keep walking as well as breaking their tails over & over. They are beaten and sliced while they slip and fall in the blood left by the ones before them. Sheep are dragged by their legs or tails and have their throats cut fully awake and in front of the rest of the sheep. It's all sickening.
tiamoella2 u must be one of the workers at the place if u donlt feel the pain and suffering of these animals... i hope they hang u from your balls .. go die.

This is horrible. I have a 5 month old baby girl and it really makee me want to home school her. I feel bad for these cows. i used to work in a pig farm and I worked there for 2 months and I felt bad for them too because the pregnant pigs are supposed to be kept cool during the summer with a little hose that mists them from above and a lot of them didn't work and these poor pigs were dying of heat.
Why did you wait so long to bring this to someone's attention? Was this all about the story for you? Did you ever try to bring this to the attention of senior plant management?
this is disgusting. i eat meat though because animals are here for us to produce and thrive. we are humans. animals should not be treated like this, however. i like the idea of treating the animals ethically. hopefully these guys are tortured and never get near another animal.
We own a dairy farm and this is horrible. We take very good care of our animals. We even have rubber mattresses for them to lay on along with thick bedding. Our cows are our babys. We have sent an animal to a slaughter house where a guy has used a cattle prod on our animal and we have threated to use it on him if we saw him use it again. After that day we have not sent any of our cattle there. This is plain ridiculous these guys in this video are heartless assholes.
they have not proven the meat to be dangerous to consume....proven or not this scares the hell out of me. I have 3 kids in school. The way they treat the cattle is bad enough, but to put my kids at rick, proven or not, they should all be shot.
Even if you don't think animals have feelings or 'rights' this footage should still chill you to the bone--it is not safe or healthy to eat this meat when the animals are so sick, it's not a risk we should be willing to take with our health.
Kudos to the investigative reporter who cracked this story. Those workers, particularly the management should be held accountable. The company should be fined significantly. Its a shame that 143 million pounds of meat is being wasted - makes the sacrifice of all those animals lives (which is a necessary evil) for naught. As far as I have heard - they have not proven the meat to be dangerous to consume.
Ladies and Gentleman: These animals, although sick, are 99.9% of the time o.k for slaughter. Yes, it was a stupid move by the slaughter house to kill these "downer" cattle because it doesn't pass California slaughter regulations, but this is an unfair portrayal of the beef industry. I have worked cattle for years, and will the rest of my life. I promise these cattle are not in "pain", or even in an extreme amount of discomfort. They are animals for slaughter and U.S Consumption.
You have worked cattle and you say these cattle are not in pain or extreme discomfort? If you work it and support it thats one thing but at least don't delude yourself by saying the cows are not in pain, biologically speaking that's IMPOSSIBLE.
KSigBU10, You need to be treated this way and see if you still feel that these cattle "were not in pain." If you have been a part of this kind of abuse, it would serve you right to have the same kind of abuse inflicted on YOU!
cybold2, I would love to be treated this way if my hide was as thick as bovine hide, or my body structure was built to be jarred, bumped, or moved around like cattle are in this video if I was anatomically built like the bovine species. Stop being some liberal hippie, and look at the world from a scientific piont of view, come on down to the real world.
I grew up on a farm and what KSigBU10 said is a lie. I don't know what his motive is, but he probably doesn't think anyone else who has worked with cattle would see this and reply.
Glendale91209, your family operation with 5 dairy cows doesn't qualify in my book as a farm. It barely qualifies in the Government's eyes as a farm. Trust me KSigBU10 is apart of one of the biggest stocker cattle operations in South Texas. I promise he knows more about cattle than you do.
"Trust you"? I wouldn't trust anyone with an ego as big as yours, especially a 20 year old. Yes, keep shootin' cowboy, see how far it gets you in life. You and KSigBU10 shouldn't be commenting on dairy cattle anyway, since it's obviously something you know nothing about. Hallmark-Westland was a slaughterhouse for dairy cattle, so what makes you think your so-called "knowledge" is appropriate here?
I have to continue my reply here since I ran into the character limit. Dairy cattle work very hard to give milk and are quite sensitive to the conditions they are under. If it is too hot or lack water they are in extreme discomfort. The abuse suffered at this plant goes way beyond that. The former owner Hallmark was quoted in the Wall Street Journal as not approving what went on there. rmarble999 and KSigBU10, your comments reflect poorly on your industry. You're not doing yourselves a favor.
My comments reflect poorly on my industry... Matter of Fact, most of the "my industry" would share my sentiment. Look, I understand that dairy cattle like Jersey or Holstein are sensitive to temperature conditions or being under extreme stress, but that only effects milk production, and/or quality of milk. It by no means is "harmful" to their physical condition. Thank you for informing me that my "knowledge" is not applicable to this subject. I needed a liberal hippie to show me the light.
KSig, you are getting to be a bore. Your statement is illogical, if you reread it. Some cattle were arriving at the plant DOA, still in the trailer, so it seems the stress, heat, etc was "harmful" to their condition, duh! I don't know what you think you are defending. The profit motive of the plant? My sister raised dairy show cattle. I have seen them clipped, brushed, washed. They do feel all of these sensations on their skin. You sound like the closest you've been to a cow is a leather jacket.
Comparing Dairy Show Cattle, to these cattle for slaughter going to slaughter is like comparing a shitzu to a pitbull. This is my last comment directed towards your no college education, never seen the beef industry besides your sisters 4-H project, liberal ass.
That is not a shock. I am in my second year of law school right now, and you remind me of the students who want to represent human rights violations and work for the ACLU. Simply put- I am glad PETA loving, J.D. holding, Pro bono working liberals like you will never have a distinct impact on Agriculture. Keep attacking the agricultural industry in a nation where 2% of the population feeds the other 98%. Smart move, that will be ridiculously advantageous...
Oh, and I thought your last misinformed comment was the last comment. You just keep hanging yourself and making your industry look bad. Hmm... human rights violations, a good thing in your view? Inhumane treatment of animals, a good thing in your view? If you were as smart as you think you are you wouldn't be trying to defend the practices at this plant and instead be thinking of ways to make it better.

i flagged this video because i felt that youngsters should not be allowed to see this video and that youtube should implement their adult rating on this video. that said, i hate people who abuse animals like they do in this vid :(
i dont close my eyes, but i dont think that kids who are on here should see something like this without a parents consent. i hate when animals get abused in such a way that its painful and humiliating for them. My two cats are rescue cases and both came from backgrounds of abuse. so i am very well versed in the reality that is animal abuse :(
Hallmark Wasteland Meat should be closed. I will not eat Beef for a very long time unless it's locally farmed. This is outrageous especially since it went to our children's school. Boycotting Beef now. Otherwise they will never learn.
Dont worry you have almost eaten all their production so far.
This happens when productivity becomes the most important issue.....these workers need to send to slaughterhouse as many animals as possible in order to get their paycheck
Dont be stupid!!!..I have been working in the meat bussines for 10 years..this practice its very common all over the slaughterhouses in USA....its not a matter if the workers are mexicans or russians.FYI Mexico has better standards on animal health at Slaughter plants since They depend on Jpn and Koren Market They get the most picky inspections....USDA inspection became only a Label so many years ago....its sad that you are more worried about cattle than humans as many ignorants
what are you talking about? We need to worry about the cattle because they may give human diseases. Also how would you feel if you were abused like that.
I agree.....Yes I am worried, what I didnt like is the kind of comment, blaming mexican workers, its easy to pinpoint foreigners than looking into USA system such as USDA
@hfcracker i agree with Norealistic, and the only reason you see mexicans or how about this hispanics because not everyone that speaks spanish is mexican. but the only reason you see them is because their the only ones willing to work those hours and do that line of work.
So I'm at a catch 22 here. Do I like this video or dislike it? I mean would I like it for showing the truth about abuse going on, or should I dislike it for the abuse of animals???

Ladies and Gentleman: These animals, although sick, are 99.9% of the time o.k for slaughter. Yes, it was a stupid move by the slaughter house to kill these "downer" cattle because it doesn't pass California slaughter regulations, but this is an unfair portrayal of the beef industry. I have worked cattle for years, and will the rest of my life. I promise these cattle are not in "pain", or even in an extreme amount of discomfort. They are animals for slaughter and U.S Consumption.
KSigBU10 3 years ago
You have worked cattle and you say these cattle are not in pain or extreme discomfort? If you work it and support it thats one thing but at least don't delude yourself by saying the cows are not in pain, biologically speaking that's IMPOSSIBLE.
itfelldown 3 years ago
KSigBU10, You need to be treated this way and see if you still feel that these cattle "were not in pain." If you have been a part of this kind of abuse, it would serve you right to have the same kind of abuse inflicted on YOU!
cybold2 3 years ago
cybold2, I would love to be treated this way if my hide was as thick as bovine hide, or my body structure was built to be jarred, bumped, or moved around like cattle are in this video if I was anatomically built like the bovine species. Stop being some liberal hippie, and look at the world from a scientific piont of view, come on down to the real world.
rmarble999 3 years ago
I grew up on a farm and what KSigBU10 said is a lie. I don't know what his motive is, but he probably doesn't think anyone else who has worked with cattle would see this and reply.
Glendale91209 3 years ago
Glendale91209, your family operation with 5 dairy cows doesn't qualify in my book as a farm. It barely qualifies in the Government's eyes as a farm. Trust me KSigBU10 is apart of one of the biggest stocker cattle operations in South Texas. I promise he knows more about cattle than you do.
rmarble999 3 years ago
"Trust you"? I wouldn't trust anyone with an ego as big as yours, especially a 20 year old. Yes, keep shootin' cowboy, see how far it gets you in life. You and KSigBU10 shouldn't be commenting on dairy cattle anyway, since it's obviously something you know nothing about. Hallmark-Westland was a slaughterhouse for dairy cattle, so what makes you think your so-called "knowledge" is appropriate here?
Glendale91209 3 years ago
I have to continue my reply here since I ran into the character limit. Dairy cattle work very hard to give milk and are quite sensitive to the conditions they are under. If it is too hot or lack water they are in extreme discomfort. The abuse suffered at this plant goes way beyond that. The former owner Hallmark was quoted in the Wall Street Journal as not approving what went on there. rmarble999 and KSigBU10, your comments reflect poorly on your industry. You're not doing yourselves a favor.
Glendale91209 3 years ago
My comments reflect poorly on my industry... Matter of Fact, most of the "my industry" would share my sentiment. Look, I understand that dairy cattle like Jersey or Holstein are sensitive to temperature conditions or being under extreme stress, but that only effects milk production, and/or quality of milk. It by no means is "harmful" to their physical condition. Thank you for informing me that my "knowledge" is not applicable to this subject. I needed a liberal hippie to show me the light.
KSigBU10 3 years ago
KSig, you are getting to be a bore. Your statement is illogical, if you reread it. Some cattle were arriving at the plant DOA, still in the trailer, so it seems the stress, heat, etc was "harmful" to their condition, duh! I don't know what you think you are defending. The profit motive of the plant? My sister raised dairy show cattle. I have seen them clipped, brushed, washed. They do feel all of these sensations on their skin. You sound like the closest you've been to a cow is a leather jacket.
Glendale91209 3 years ago
Comparing Dairy Show Cattle, to these cattle for slaughter going to slaughter is like comparing a shitzu to a pitbull. This is my last comment directed towards your no college education, never seen the beef industry besides your sisters 4-H project, liberal ass.
rmarble999 3 years ago
What a joker, thinking you know everything. I have a law degree, and my sister's cattle reached the national level of purebred Holsteins.
Glendale91209 3 years ago
That is not a shock. I am in my second year of law school right now, and you remind me of the students who want to represent human rights violations and work for the ACLU. Simply put- I am glad PETA loving, J.D. holding, Pro bono working liberals like you will never have a distinct impact on Agriculture. Keep attacking the agricultural industry in a nation where 2% of the population feeds the other 98%. Smart move, that will be ridiculously advantageous...
rmarble999 3 years ago
Oh, and I thought your last misinformed comment was the last comment. You just keep hanging yourself and making your industry look bad. Hmm... human rights violations, a good thing in your view? Inhumane treatment of animals, a good thing in your view? If you were as smart as you think you are you wouldn't be trying to defend the practices at this plant and instead be thinking of ways to make it better.

i flagged this video because i felt that youngsters should not be allowed to see this video and that youtube should implement their adult rating on this video. that said, i hate people who abuse animals like they do in this vid :(

Hi mbnh31782.
if you want to protect the animals, you have to do sometime and that is what I did.
I put this video and the public could see the Animal Abuse.
You please help and not just close your eyes in front of the Cruelties.
Norealistic 3 years ago 9
i dont close my eyes, but i dont think that kids who are on here should see something like this without a parents consent. i hate when animals get abused in such a way that its painful and humiliating for them.

Its like a bovine holocaust.

Dont worry you have almost eaten all their production so far.
This happens when productivity becomes the most important issue.....these workers need to send to slaughterhouse as many animals as possible in order to get their paycheck
Males11 3 years ago 2
your Right.
But we need to keep protection to the Animals.
Any Video of Animal Abuse please just post it to youtube.

Steve Mendell President Westland Meat Co. Hallmark Meat Packing (650) 572-0435 Give him a call and thank him for hiring the mexicans!
hfcracker 3 years ago
Dont be stupid!!!..I have been working in the meat bussines for 10 years..this practice its very common all over the slaughterhouses in USA....its not a matter if the workers are mexicans or russians.FYI Mexico has better standards on animal health at Slaughter plants since They depend on Jpn and Koren Market They get the most picky inspections....USDA inspection became only a Label so many years ago....its sad that you are more worried about cattle than humans as many ignorants
Males11 3 years ago
what are you talking about? We need to worry about the cattle because they may give human diseases. Also how would you feel if you were abused like that.
booahpeek 3 years ago
I agree.....Yes I am worried, what I didnt like is the kind of comment, blaming mexican workers, its easy to pinpoint foreigners than looking into USA system such as USDA
Males11 3 years ago 3
Yeah, that's true. It's not only Mexicans, it can be any race.

Hi hfcracker.
Friend's This is not About Mexicans Or North Americans.
This Video is About A Company that allow workers to do Animal abuse.
it's not about Mexicans, Colombians, Or Canadian.
Regars to all.
Norealistic 3 years ago 2
@hfcracker i agree with Norealistic, and the only reason you see mexicans or how about this hispanics because not everyone that speaks spanish is mexican. but the only reason you see them is because their the only ones willing to work those hours and do that line of work.
