  • good video

  • My round trip commute is almost 70 miles so when you folks get it up to a 100 mile range I'll be thinking about you! Electric is cool, but in my humble opinion it will be a chemically charged system that will ultimately win the range war. Pull up to the pump. Exchange your spent chemicals for fresh ones to be recycled, and off you go!

  • The whining about this bike being too expensive doesn't seem to take into account that the cost is almost entirely due to the batteries. Even if you tried to build your own bike, you're not gonna get it for much cheaper.

In fact, there are companies that sell kits, and they aren't cheaper.

  • The price tag, USD8-9,000, will keep me away from anything like this for years to come. Honda Ruckus, for instance, burns very little fuel, so the damage it does to the environment is next to insignificant, and it costs just USD2,500. The balance could be used on several family holidays and as much gas as one would need for a lifetime.

If the Brammo were sold for similar money, I would really consider it - it's quite a(n odd) looker, indeed.

  • Inertia is spelt wrong.

  • Again I want an electric bike but there is just no way that I would pay that much. So its a cost issue for people and not much more. My proof, those little red scooters from the late 1980's that had a one gallon tank and went 100 miles on it. People but them up faster than they could be built because the price was right.

  • I can respect that people need to make money and all but even at $8k its still too much. These are gonna go the same way of the 1970's electric car - no where ! Now don't get me wrong, I want an electric bike. My problem is that I can get an adapter looking monkey box and mount to my bicycle and get the same result as this bike does. That monkey box costs around $400 !! Which way would you go ?!?!

  • 43 miles range ,thats like 1 gallon of gas.even@4$ a gal, gas bikes are still more efficient. new gas bikes produce very little emission today.compared to the coal burning elec plants..imagine this: from your house to the beach is 45 miles, and every one wants to take their elec bike today. is there gonna be a charging station for every one.it would not be so bad if it charged in five minutes.the day some drone comes to my door with an ext cord: sir i ran out juice; ok ill call you a generator

  • can you electrify a honda pacific coast for me?

  • Put a dynamo on both wheels so it recharges the battery as you go giving you longer range

  • @mhelalcaraz LOL

  • I wonder, what would the range be when reduced to 30mp/h max (max allowed speed for mopeds in Europe) About double? say, 100mls?

  • And yes, if I but one........ I'm going to replace the round headlamp with a triangular kind of one like on the FZ series from Yamaha!!!!!!!!!

  • Its a generous byk & for those who can atleast think of their future and also their children's, They will surely go for it bcozz they can surely see its long term benefits....

And keeping this uber cool designed byk wouldn't disappoint them when they luk at other byks...

  • Very cool. Now just to work on longer distances. Btw what are the batteries made of?

  • looks sooo boring. quantya bikes are looking good and produce more fun by riding it.

  • So Beautifull Byke, and they still go for the old way of using Batteries!!?

    Is this Video So OLD!!?

The world has changed much. Today we have HHO Cells, we have so many new tecknologies which can give this byke a much much more range....

  • This is just the beginning if goverment put funds and more effort into electric technology the possibilities could be endless.

Electric vehicles have existed as long as gasoline vehicles.

    I own a small e-scooter and i love it!

  • @obadboystanley

In fact, electric vehicles had been around for about 50 years BEFORE gasoline powered vehicles came along. It was only due to the electric starter motor and efficiency of gasoline that petrol powered vehicles became more popular. Electric vehicles in their early days were only capable of very low speeds and rather short range, not much more than a few miles. They sure have come a long way since then. 0-60 in 4 seconds or less and 200-300 miles isn't impossible these days.

  • electric supermoto anyone?

  • whats top speed and weight?

  • These guys are definitely on something here.

You guys should check out the Brammo Empulse. Looks like a Ducati Monster, is a bit faster than this one (comparable to an SV650), and has better range. They said they should hit the streets sometime next year.

You also gotta remember that whatever they charge will be a lot less after tax breaks for going electric. Sounds like a good deal to me!

  • @heartlesspinto The Empulse accelerates QUUUIIICCCKKK!!

  • I like it. Zero American military lives per gallon. I'm going to check into getting one.

  • @Alvord1430 not to mention iraqi lives....

  • Interesting... with more advanced batteries, the saving weight will become significant, and that (plus the extra battery life) will greatly increase the range. Note that it's a good idea to take a quick look behind ("the lifesaver") before turning right or left. The lifesaver is a lot more important than the loudness of exhaust pipes!

Btw, it's not the loud Harley pipes which gets people to notice them - it's the fact one has a LOT more time to see them coming :)

  • I read where they used a flywheel on a generator so when the bike slowed or stopped they would still get a charge. Think about the fact you have a battery used only to fire up the car and yet your grnerator is going as long as your car is running.

  • I fully support electric motorcycles (more a fan of e-bicycles), but I will agree that loud pipes (even though they are annoying as hell) are safer. When on the highway, you hear the Harley coming up behind you, just as they enter your blind spot. Loud pipes would reduce the risk of a car merging into you from the side. I'd would be nice if Harley riders didn't unnecessarily lay on the gas as much though. They would wake me up at night...

  • @velodudect

you are right about safety , it is a concern

maybe there is a cheap electronic warning signal (for proximity) that can be built into a display for vehicles 2010- 2020

  • I met these, guy's at a burger king, they are really coo. I want a modle with extra batteries though.

  • Tell you what- Rode a 450 In Los Angeles, sounded like a typewriter- I never Tach'ed out more than 5K- was never even CLOSE to an accident- it's in the way you ride, the time you ride, and the routes that you take.

Get away from the grocery getters, and when you're within 5 miles of home get up on the bike and get careful- that's where accidents happen!

  • this bike is 15,000 miles on 85$ of electricity

  • @aries1g If gas cost $3 a gallon that's a savings of $1415. Now a loan for $13,000 for 5yrs and you have a payment of $275 a month. Your savings is now gone and the bike is costing you. The batteries have a life of 7yrs and you will need to replace them. Still it's a good deal and you will have a bigger Green foot print. Lithium comes from a different continent and we could run out.

  • a solar panel in place of the engine panels would be a great idea

  • this seams to be a great short distance bike. if it wasnt for the distance that i travel i would really consider purchasing it. but untill the battery is capable of lasting for more than a 45 mile round trip i could not personaly use it. though it is almost the perfect option for those who ride in the city. while living there i wouldnt think you would be traveling more than 2 or 3 miles on the average day to get where you're going.

  • What is the topspeed?

  • it's a beautiful motorcycle, but the limited range maybe more of a put off than the price to some. a beautiful and affordable EV

  • wow, i want one now!! i am from malaysia.

  • I want one too!! ( I'm from England. )

  • @nrnar

Dude, I'm surprised y'all didn't have something like this first!

  • i think its a great bike for $8000, not only is it good for the mother earth. its easy on your wallet too. think about the fuel money you save, oil change, filter, spark plugs and what not. Yea the battery is probably not good for the environment, but it could last 10 years. think about all the oil you go through in a combustion engine.

  • Actually it uses lithium batteries which are made of nontoxic mineral salt and require no smelting during manufacture or recycling. It's other, older battery types like NiMH and lead acid that were bad for the environment.

  • 7gs for something that doesnt cost more then 2gs to make yeah id say thats fair.if you want to domonate over gas you have to make it cheaper then a gas bike would cost becouse for the range that a ebike gets at 7 gs ppl are going to still use gas simply for the range and the ease of refueling.you watch someone is going to design and awsome ebike and sell it cheap and MAKE A MINT!!!that you can take to the bank.Hell i might just do that!

  • It's sad, that you are an idot....

  • @ChristX1337 yeah, i know understanding economics makes me re todd ed you not knowing economics makes you sofaking re todd ed!!>,,!,,

  • I just test rode the Brammo Enertia at Best Buy in El Segundo. WOW!!! It felt sort of like a scooter speed wise up to 30 mph but when it hit 40 mph it jumped right up to 60+ mph way faster than traffic. I put a bit over 4 miles on it and used almost 10% of the charge. In my garage at home I have a electric Lepton scooter and a Buell XB12s. The Brammo felt right in between - I want one! Anybody looking for a killer deal on my reliable Italian electric Lepton?

  • wouldnt an urban setting for this video be a better promo?

  • If they could make an electric bike that recharges as you drive it,..in other words can get several hundreds of miles to a charge, and make them look like all styles of bikes, ...sports, cruisers etc and price them as much as regular bikes, they would effectively kill the combustion motorcycle industry overnight.

  • or they could simply take a best high selling budget (but quality) bike like the YBR125, or CG125, and just make an electic bike to that formula, and they'd have a huge market right there. But problem is they are aiming at a group of people who dont have much money (if they do that), hence they ride those bikes; the bikers with lots of cash want large cruisers or neck-jerking sports, and so, I guess they cant appeal to either large groups. shame. This tech needs to get cheaper and better.

  • it would be cool if the front wheel charged the battery wile in motion.3 hours charge for 45 miles would make for a short afternoon of riding. The day would be over if you wanted to go 100 miles.

  • Think back to physics class. The law of conservation, specifically. That front wheel generator would add drag, which would negate any boost in range you could get.

Any on-the-go energy generation scheme you think of has to be drag-free. That means no mounted wind turbines, no front wheel generators, etc.

  • boy are you stupid! LMFAO!

  • Cut the price if half Brammo and you'll be onto something.

  • Its now $7,995!!

  • I like motorcycles, but how does noise help? I listen to idiots with straight pipes all weekend long, it pisses me off

  • I rode a electric motorcycle when I was in China for business, there are all over the places, and very very cheap. I don't know why it's so expansive, maybe because of all the Euro components???

  • Would buy it right now if it was around 5k. Guess I have to wait

  • Not really, Electric Vehicle Mall sells an electric motorbike for $5,000. It's sort of halfway between a motorcycle and a moped, it's called the XM-5000li and it goes 85 miles to a charge at 60mph, much better than the one in the video considering the price.

  • Its now $7,995!!

  • This is true, but I said cut the price in half, which would have been $5995. I still think it's over price for it's performance. Brammo needs to make a couple more leaps in either price or performance before this bike is viable to your average motorcycle joe.

  • Thank god The Electric cars are coming! Saving the ozone is good this will save us from Global Warming!

  • God with a small 'g' and electric with a big 'E' ?! You have things confused ...

  • Nope. He's got it spot on.

  • no it won't, we do not control global warming, what we do is only a drop in the bucket, sure, we need to take care of the earth, i am not agianst that, but we can not control fate, electric cars will most liekly not stop global warming, there are other big factors, like jumbo jets, and cargo ships

  • spo123328: "no it won't, we do not control global warming, what we do is only a drop in the bucket, [...] electric cars will most liekly not stop global warming, there are other big factors, like jumbo jets, and cargo ships" There are hundreds of millions of dinosaur fuel vehicles in the US alone. How many jumbo jets and cargo ships are there? I'm not disagreeing with you; I'm saying what you are saying (and indeed, what I'm saying) is way too casual and not rigorous enough.

  • Love it...finally some mainstream cool e-bike...

  • how much was it to buy

  • $11,995

  • Loud Pipes Save Lives

  • There is not a single statistic showing loud pipes doing anything to save lives. It's a myth perpetuated to justify having a loud motorcycle.

  • I'm so tired of the loud pipes save lives argument. First thing we learned in our MSF class, loud pipes not only don't save lives, they piss people off and are usually illegal.

Plus, this argument is coming from the idiots dressed in all black wearing the equivalent to no helmet. If they really wanted to increase conspicuity, they'd wear a colorful, even reflective, full face helmet or a reflective jacket. Who are they kidding, they just want to be noisy and have people look at them.

  • Actually, its possible that bright colours are more dangerous than wearing black because it seems to make other drivers focus their attention on the rider and what a driver looks it is where the car will go. Don't just regurgitate someone else's opinion without questioning it.

  • Very well said. Agree 100%!

  • @chipmunkofdoom2 you're a vagina that doesn't like loud things.

  • @chipmunkofdoom2

sorry bud loud pipes do save lives... people are dumb and dont look around them, all my friends with cbr's have had allot more problems on the road then my harley. This week we had Two! motorcycle accidents in one day from day dreaming drivers. Bolth riders were riding quite sportbikes. I feel a hell of allot saver rolling through an intersection knowing that people can here me and know im coming through. skull caps are more maneuverable and dont feel like a fuckin sail.

  • @Grabowski420 Hear!!!!!!

  • @jgiralde the beast yuo cann doo is peck apert me speling? HAHAHAH

  • @chipmunkofdoom2 I'm glad you said that. Thank you.

  • @chipmunkofdoom2 I don't see how you can deny the advantage of having an extra sense to identify the location of a small object, especially with the blind spot while driving a car. You're being too critical of just one stereotype to justify that argument, especially since lots of riders like theirs to be colorful/reflective.I'm not saying they have to be so loud they set off car alarms, but it is a awareness&safety advantage.(unless someone has epilepsy and it triggers a seizure or something xD)

  • @chipmunkofdoom2 wait a minute bud hold on everyone in my family are bikers including myself and over the years statistics show that it is the younger riders on Crotch rockets, who usually wear brightly colored jackets, that are present in most collisions. also the black that most of these guys are wearing is leather which i have found out myself can save a rider from serious injury(i know from personal experiance.) my dads harleys were loud as can be .he rode for 30 yrs never one accident.

  • @chipmunkofdoom2 So you're telling me that a whisper quiet bike is safer then something that people can actually notice? Keep telling yourself that.

  • What sort of statistic are you looking for? I ride a bike and can tell you that noise helps. It probably rarely helps, but it helps, and basically anything that makes a bike safer to ride is worthwhile because if you come off there's a good chance of being seriously hurt.

  • ... I'd guess $1500-$2000 to change the batteries out when needed. It would suck to have 5 miles left and then phzzzzz zzz zz z...no mo battery. maybe a gear change would get you to 70 mph if the motor could handle it. range is horrible. i personally think it looks ok...buy my 6'2" 160 lbs bean pole would add to the wale dick factor.

  • be nice if they could get rid of the mechanical sound. go with belt drive?

  • is it chain drive? still hearing some mechanical noise when accelorating or powering down the road

  • tyres and chain make lotsa noise when you can hear the engine

  • hey im wanting a bike as my first vehicle, and Harleys have the look but this will save me money so which would be better? And are bikes easy to steal because I live in a town full of lets say bad influences.

  • for the price of an enertia you could also get a suzuki boulevard. newer models get 45 mpg and haul like a real bike. a very good thing to note is that this thing tops out at about 50mph, which makes it a bad choice for highway riding. and as far as your theft problem, there is always low jack. you hide a small transmitter somewhere on your frame so the cops can track it down if it is stolen (well worth while if you're gonna drop 10+ grand on a bike).

  • compared to a ninja 250 this bike isn't worth it, 250 gets 70 mpg, and can easily maintain a speed of 60 mph for 200 milesand at $3,500 it's a steal. The inertia costs $12,000, top speed is 55 mph, and range of 45 miles. At 70 mpg does anyone care about the price of gas.

  • Comment removed

  • 12 grand for 45 miles at 25 mph! sorry you guys have a long ways to go!

  • Where did you hear 25mph? I heard 20hp 36lbft. You should check out the Brammo vids. They're racing a TT version at the Isle of Mann. Pretty sick.

  • eletric motorcycle = homo

  • what do you ride?

  • burn gas people.... 3 hour charge for 45 minutes thats real consumer friendly.....

  • He said 45 miles, not minutes.

It's new technology. You can't expect it to be perfect right away.

  • If gas goes back up to $4.00/Gal, they'll sell a few of these, too expensive though, I commute to work on a 80 M.P.G. 250 Ninja I bought new for $3.000, I would have to commute for decades to make the price of the Brammo worth the expense.

  • These guys sound really depressed. :(

  • lol, that's what i was thinking... especially the moto usa guy... terrible interview

  • HOW FAST

  • but a tesla costs over $100.000. I dont have that much money. this bike is a good begining to make a standard product line. there are more vids like emoto or blade 04 about what such a bike can be. i take the train for real long ways. why should i take the own car or motorcycle? am i silly? no. so fu** of with you "only 50miles range"- blah blah dumbies ...

11 or 15 thousand ... hmmm ... cheap enough for hand made stuff. in future the price will be lower with an assembly line for these bikes.

  • yeah but the tesla goes alot of alot further and is alot more fun

  • i'm a fan of electric vehicles, but do not buy this bike. its waaaay over priced. only 45 miles says its not worth plus i bet the top speed for this thing is like 50 mph.

  • no me gusta el diseño x que no tiene asiento p/ 1 acompañante,le podrian haber puesto mas baterias y le falta angulo de ataque a los barrales delanteros pero loque vale es laintencion

  • $10 000, good luck getting people to buy a bike for that price which only goes 45 miles per change.

  • How is this for commuting? When I commute to work it's 47 miles one way. I thought commuting meant long drive...not in town lol. Good idea but please don't mislead people by calling it a commuter bike when it can't even travel my one way distance to work.

  • im sure it can be upgraded quite easily once tech evolves

  • what is top speed? can u run it on the highway? these questions should have been asked by the interviewer, or did i miss it?

  • It's still cheaper than a tesla.

  • I love it, its great. I work live and go to church within 20 miles. An electric motorcycle like this would work for me. I plan to build one too.

  • Love to have one if the price were cut in half and the range increased about 400%.

    But 12k for a 40 mile range bike?? I don't think so!

  • What a cool bike.

  • the gusy said "a motorcycle maybe is the same efficiency as a prius".......efficiency is not just about fuel consumption....efficiency is about input, output and losses.....its possible that a motorcycle is the same efficiency as a prius if the motorcycle is also a hybrid or other technologies other than a regular engine......physics stuff :D

  • i stopped watching at 4:43 when he said it was 15 grand.

  • Well, thats for the limited edition. The regular one is 10K.

I still say that is a good deal in the long run.

  • money must not be much of a thought to you huh?

  • Put some decent batteries in it and it's sorted. It needs a range of 150+ miles at least.

  • Right guys... RIGHT....

I guess this is why they have 1500 backorders already...

No demand? You've got to be joking...

Cost is probably something like 0.005 cents per mile..

  • I think he said 150 orders?

Anyway many will want this am sure!

With more refinement these will surpass petrol.

  • At least we know when we run out of oil we can still ride motorcycles.

  • ya why do electric bikes/cars have to be so ugly. And i want to tell my bike is running, and i want to be able to shift,45m not much of a ride.I hope they keep try'in but maybe ask some people that ride what not to do.

  • its nice to know that bikers of all types hate the earth soooo much that they wont give ideas like this a chance. you want a harley, buy one. you want your kids to be able to buy a harley, support ideas like this. xs650 forevea bithces

  • hahahah sounds so good:-D

however is a good alteranative to the scooter but no to the real bikes!!!!

  • I'm going to miss shifting :'(

  • why is it stupid? the biggest enemy of electrics is weight... cars weigh in at 2000 pounds, motorcycles 200 pounds. who's stupid now?

another thing, you live near a city? probably not you dumb redneck... the roadways are way too congested.

  • Hey jp. So no one here is allowed to have an opinion on this subject? So you are going to call people names and make up stats to support your own ingnorance? Find something else to do.

  • well when people say stupid things they deserved to be called stupid.

what did i "make up" ? please let me know

  • You're absolutely right! Everyone who is smart as you knows that batteries weigh next to nothing!!

  • wow you missed the point big time

  • on youtube, research "white zombie" drag racer....

a genius in Portland converts car engines to e-motors, and are very fast; the company who works with him also designs an e-bike that is absurdly fast, too..

  • all stats and stupid "my harley is better" comments aside... i bet that ride is smooth as heeeeeeeeeell. if i had a ton of cash layin around, i'd own one just for the hell of it

  • harleys r gay

only 40 miles if they make atleast 200 mile range ill buy one

  • It's a nice concept ... but for now my VMAX still does the job for me.

The price point is wrong. If you're aiming for 40 mile round trip in city commuting you've got to come in at or under $7500. I think it's most likely a cost engineering job. You need to sell 51% of the company to a GM or something that can manufacture the same bike for about $2500 and isn't looking to recoup the R&D cost in two years

  • your shitty loudy ugly harleys are dieing breed... electrics are the future old man

  • my prediction is this company tanks. price is too high, range sucks, and its ugly to boot. nice job!

  • ill stick to my kx100

  • it looks **** , if they made it look better would be more buyers

  • if you make it look like a cbr600rr i bet there would be alot more buyers...

  • What's up with these designers? Why does electric have to look so dorky? Make the bike look cool like the Vectrix super bike. Come on guys, get with the program.

  • yeah a little weird if you look the side of it, it needs to be redesigned!

But if you're on it it looks like Yamaha TW 225 Jap-Bobber, loks pretty cool...

  • Sweeeeet. But they're still very expensive to be taken seriously as an option. The same goes to the Quantya (which I love) and the Zero bikes... Some kind of new battery technology will have to arrive to knock down the prices to a consumer level.

  • I'll wait until the "Mr. Fusion" model...

  • wow 12g's for something that makes you look like a dork. gas isn't that expensive yet.

  • Twelve grand? Don't think so. You could buy a fleet of good small displacement bikes for that. You'd never recover the additional cost even at four dollars a gallon. This is a feel good machine....just move the carbon output to the power station. Noone talks about the toxic materials used in battery production either.

  • So how do you recover the cost of a gas bike?

  • This is the future.

  • its a good bike, b ut its not going to get people moff thier sports bikes

  • Someone is building a motocross/offroad version of an electric bike, but I'm not sure who it was. Help? I can't ever see me buying one though, took me forever to go from a two srtoke to a 4 stroke.

  • KTM!!!

  • Thanks! You know where there's any info on it?

  • Quantya and Zero Bikes are manufacturing "mx" electric bikes.

  • So, they took a Segway apart and put it back together in the shape on a bike. :)

Does it perform better than a 250cc bike, b/c those cost around $3k new.

  • i could never ride something like that.... it just cant be considered a motorcycle!

  • Great concept! I tried the Vectrix scooter last year at the Long Beach bike show and had a blast. The styling needs a bit of tweaking, but that will come with technological improvements which will allow the bike's profile to slim down. Personally, I'd like to see a sport bike profile.

  • ... just like the electric cars... why the hell do they have to make em so damn ugly. Why can't they produce a hybrid or electric car or bike with modern looks that appeal to the masses.

  • i ride motocross and this is never going to take off i cant imagine anyone who would want to ride something like that. the overall design is filled with flaws and it looks like a giant electric scooter i hope no one ever buys this

  • well that's strange... why does the company have a massive backlog?

    oh they're probably lieing

  • As biker, I can't like that bike... sounds like the end of the good old roaring, hot exhaust tips, strong vibrations. i mean look at that inside, who'd like to do some mechanic in there? i'm not what you think, kinda redneck-ecologist-fucker, i'm just a homesick amateur.

    plus, it looks ugly

  • Dang it's a bit over priced.

  • how much is it

  • $12k - $15k

  • I wonder how much money you'll actually save...like instead of buying gas, I wonder how much electricity you'll be wasting out of your house...interesting bike though!

  • longer range and it's a good buy.
