@kuunami: You know actually it's not even the numbers that make me angry. It's the way the mainstream media (especially shows like TYT, although it's not really 'mainstream') only report the rare white on black crimes while mostly ignoring the rampant black on white crimes.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s where the local news would dedicate 5-8 minutes a day to report crimes in low income areas and as far as I see, it never helped to reduce crime. It just helped create stigmas which only make things worse. Black on white crime is not nearly as rampant as people believe. The vast majority of victims of black crime are other black people most of who probably dislike crime as much as you do. The real problem is the virtual lack of a black middle class.

Right, but when you meet a Chinese person, you can still look at him and objectively decide for yourself whether or not he's too small to play on your basketball team for example. I'm trying to find an article I read a while back about a study that shows that white female rape victims are significantly less likely to report it if their attacker is white. It was something like 5 to 10 times less likely. Something that probably plays into why the number appear so skewed at times.

They also don't point out the fact a the majority of guys who do things like what Phillip Garrido did to Jaycee Lee Dugard that we often hear about of tend to be white. I get what you're saying and I agree. There's no denying don't report every black crime or emphasis race when they do. I'm just pointing out to you that this dynamic also works the other way around only that it's society wide and not just media bias. Society as a whole is still much more likely to take race into account when a black person does something wrong and that's the simple reality of it. @kuunami: You know actually it's not even the numbers that make me angry. It's the way the mainstream media (especially shows like TYT, although it's not really 'mainstream') only report the rare white on black crimes while mostly ignoring the rampant black on white crimes.
In movies it's even worse.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s where the local news would dedicate 5-8 minutes a day to report crimes in low income areas and as far as I see, it never helped to reduce crime. It just helped create stigmas which only make things worse. Black on white crime is not nearly as rampant as people believe. The vast majority of victims of black crime are other black people most of who probably dislike crime as much as you do. The real problem is the virtual lack of a black middle class.

That's logical and I would have no problem with that but I guess I just have little faith in people's ability or willingness to be objective when dealing with people who are of the same race as the folks they see committing crimes on the news. The temptation to lump everyone into the same category is a strong one. So on one hand I agree with you but on the other hand I see the problems that it can cause.

@kuunami: But all knowledge is based on generalizations. That's also how 'race' should be perceived. Ex.: are Chinese smaller than Europeans? Yes (in general). That means that I'm able to predict that a random 100 Eur's will on av erage be taller than a random 100 Chinese. There are of course also small Eur's and tall Chinese, but nonetheless race is a reliable predictor in this case. Other racial diffrences should be viewed in exactly the same way.

Right, but when you meet a Chinese person, you can still look at him and objectively decide for yourself whether or not he's too small to play on your basketball team for example. You cannot however look at a black person and logically say "I will not hire this person because he might be a criminal like the thugs that I see on the news, even though he appears clean cut and well spoken so I'll disregard his qualifications." But people are still doing that even today.

You made a lot of points that I agree with. But unfortunately the numbers aren't quite as reliable as we might think. I'm trying to find an article I read a while back about a study that shows that white female rape victims are significantly less likely to report it if their attacker is white. It was something like 5 to 10 times less likely. Something that probably plays into why the number appear so skewed at times.

However, I didnt bring up this nr to paint blacks as some evil monsters, but rather cos I'm sick of this 'one-way-reporting'. They also don't point out the fact a the majority of guys who do things like what Phillip Garrido did to Jaycee Lee Dugard that we often hear about of tend to be white. Or the fact that guys like Madoff who rob people of Billions of dollars or the majority of the guys who caused the the housing and mortgage meltdown, the banks, wallstreet who are responsible for this recession are mostly rich white guys. I get what you're saying and I agree. There's no denying don't report every black crime or emphasis race when they do. I'm just pointing out to you that this dynamic also works the other way around only that it's society wide and not just media bias. Society as a whole is still much more likely to take race into account when a black person does something wrong and that's the simple reality of it. TYT are liberals who are aware of this, which is why they report the way they do.

The department feared that they would be called racist by some pencil pusher and thew out the test scores. Luckily a few years later after countless money and time wasted the supreme court voted to restore sanity, although the "wise latina woman" voted on the side of ignorance.

African Americans unfortunatley have not been as lucky. Affirmitive Action may help some blacks in the short run, but it hurts every one in the long run.
