Kinda funny going back and watching this 2 years later. I had no concept of weaving in auto-attacks at the time I made this vid, but nowadays I can fit them into the same animation as the skill w/o any extra delay. Feels good to "know better" now, but at the same time, kinda reminiscent of that "new" mindset and approach to the game back then.
spell chains / movement bonuses, its like the combat system was thought up by a Hardcore PvP God player who is bored with the standard select and shoot em up method!
33 days left till sales in the UK, i cant wait!
Aion Combat > WoW combat!
Im comverted just for the new combat system, let alone the gameplay xD
Ahhh i thought it was a type of bug got the ranger upto 22 last weekend and im used to hitting auto attack now after each ability but if there going to fix it thats great aswell, its a kool tip about the jumping/attacking because i found kiting awkward with the dodgy camera felt like i was back peddling all the time and trying to keep the defensive debuff off is pretty hard like that. But your suggestion sounds good just hope they dont fix that hehe. thanks for the replys m8 :)
You can actually keep a constant motion during auto-attack if you jump, then release the forward movement mid-jump and press auto-attack. Your character will turn for a split second until you resume forward key before the jump ends, and then shot will fire while you continue running. So it's a seamless motion with auto's firing every few seconds.
I played the 5th EU beta weekend and made a ranger and got upto 14, but everytime i use the ability snipe it cancels auto shoot and i have to reclick the target to auto shoot again. Should it be like that or have i got a bug/doing something wrong? Thanks and nice vid btw :)
It's nothing you're doing wrong. Something that'll be fixed come release, though I actually kinda like it the way it is now. The trick is to just have a hotkey for auto attack and press it every time after an ability. And I've since refined the technique a bit more such that stopping for a split second on each auto-attack isn't required (see next comment for details).
Nice vid. You broke it down extremely well and pointed out somethings for people. You kept it simple while getting your point across and i like that :) I played an archer in another game and will be taking advantage of it on this one as well. Name of my old archer was Kimmimo back on Archlord. Ah the good old days lol
