Did anyone exept for me see NOVA "the Pluto files" where famous scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson had a scene in front of here with his classic car. He also had a discussion at The Cupboard.
Unfortunately, the former Plumb Theater location now hosts a parking lot. (Streator's historic buildings are rapidly making way for the town's booming parking business!)
I'm what "true Streatorites" would call a "transplant". Although I moved here in 2002, I'm the spawn of second generation Streator folks. My grandfather was a barber in Streator back in the 1920s-1950s. I was weaned on Johnny Mazzetti, and cut my teeth on Halushki!
it is amazing the only thing is it only has 2 movies so not much of a choice lol. so it has its upsides and downsides. the upsides are its a piece of history and a classic to what the theaters used to look like. the downsides are it only has 2 movies. i have nothing against the majestic hell ill go to it if it has the movies i wanna see lol

Why did I get deleted? I was the first to comment on this fine historical video. It reminds me of the movie with JIm Carrey.

Once again, Streator's Majestic Theater marquee is dark. Let's hope it's very temporary!

bretoff,
Unfortunately, rumor has it that The Majestic will once again be closing it's doors, which is a literal shame for our community.

I had a chance to buy that place 10 years ago. It does have a stryking resembleance to the Majestic theatre in the movie with Jim Carey.....
