I'm Canadian. I was on vacation and happened to be at the Water Festival that night a little further down river past the palace. It was a beautify event that ended in tragedy. It's not a "stupid" festival anymore than gathering for New Years in New York or London is. A stampede can happen anywhere there are large crowds, confined spaces and bottlenecks. And to those bashing Chinese construction I'd challenge you to visit Shanghai or the 3 Gorges damn.
It is so sad for Khmer. Government have to find justice for those victims both wounded and died. Giving 5 millions riels, 1000 dollars, or some fund to the death is not legal solution or compensation, it is only the charity help. Finding out people's responsible for sad event is the best way to prevent destruction or any incident in the future. But sometime giving the money without any right investigation is the best way that the rich or power man always do with the poor in this country.
dis is just what i heard so dont get mad or anything plz. just call khmer nd now people some start to rumor than go to a kru teay and the kru teay said the yom ma barl from hell looking for more spirit around 1000 people nd i just herd that 60 pp died in Chroy Chongva now everyone start to sien foods on the street nd some say its have to do with political reason i guess cuz the bridge is build by the vietnamese so they think da viet trying to kill our khmer cuz dey shock of electric on bridge
How can I express my sorrow to those who's passed away that night???,,,it's a tragic night, and being khmer, I will always remember what had happened on Nov 22, 2010 to honor those innocent people that passed away. R.I.P :'(
the failure of the greedy leaders to secure the safety of the people, there's more death here than preah vihear standoff with the thais.hun sen is an incompetent leader..cpp must go.
So this is the famous bridge. I'd imagine it much more narrow, more like a pedestrian bridge. I suppose the high voltage wires were temporary tied up on the structure of bridge. Awful tradgety.
only in cambodia can such thing like this happen wtf r all of them doing crowded on the bridge anyway
