I'm glad people some people like this generation's model, but not me. Specifically, watch out for ignition coil issues- it is not covered under the 8yr/80,000 emissions warranty. I've had 4 coils replaced already, 1 under warranty, and 3 after. The 3 after were $800 from the dealer with diagnosis- I said no and got it done for $500 from a good mechanic. But 4 ignition coil issues after just 40,000 miles is just frustrating. No more Toyotas for me. Seems alot of people had the same problems
We looked at a Camry Hybrid, and almost bought in 2007. But we didnt cause we couldnt get the deal the dealer said was possible. A few months later, we bought a used 06 honda accord! I love both, so no complaints here!
If it was not for Hyundai Sonata Making ESC standard the Camry would not have VSC standard in 2010. It was a shame that the toyota did not have Vsc standard on the V6 models in 2007. I do like toyotas but i will not pay 3 to 4 k for one, I have my Sonata V6 for three years it has served me well.
It isn't because of Hyundai. Its actually because of Uncle Sam. The US government pushed all automakers to add stability control as a standard feature by a set date. I think 2011 or 2014...
@HughJass99 erm, yes you do...theyre mostly driven by grandmas. they tried to give it a striking design, but left the wheels out of it completely. they look stuck on.
Ok everyone stop, I own the 2009 Camry Le V6, before that a 1997 camry le and it had 234k when i sold it and it still loked and ran like new. Answer this.. why is it that you see so many old camry's and corollas on the road today? Because they won't die due to there there reliability. That is why they are the bestselling sedan on the road. And why Ford, GM, and Chevy are losing business!
Can't we just say both japanes and american cars are good. JUST JOKING. I think the japanese do a better job. ON star, WTF, id rather buy somthing else with my onstar subscription payment. Besides, who begging congress for money for their FAILING car business.
I Love the Altima And Malibu! I Have a 2009 Malibu LTZ V6.. And It has NOT given Me not ONE (1) Problem. And FIT AND FINISH IS YEARS AHEAD OF ACCORD AND CAMRY!!
We Onstar customers have "VIRTUAL ADVISOR"!!LOL! Plus the REAL THING..BUT MAY I ASK, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOURE IN THE TOYOTA, OR DODGE AND U HAVE A BAD ACCIDENT,u 4got UR CELL PHONE AT HOME AND NO ONES AROUND TO ASSIST YOU?>>>> WHAT DO YOU DO???I have a suggestion.."PRAY"!!!!
Well Onstar calls into the vehicle then they ask if u need assistance!!
NOW THATS PEACE OF MIND TO ME!!
IS ONSTAR WORTH BASHING ABOUT?? AND ITS ALSO EXCELLENT IF U LOCK UR KEYS IN THE CAR ALSO!OR IF ITS STOLEN!
The accord is good car! The malibu is a quality piece now and Get ready for the 2010 Ford fusion but the accord is just a letdown now! Its got subpar quality Floaty ride Poor driving dynamics Vague steering unresponsive handling It doesn't even have folding seats the V6 model has below-average reliabity according to CONSUMER REPORTS Yeah thats quality!
Let me get this straight. U fell 4 the On Star Hype cos U intend crashing your GM product every single time U hit the road?
I applaud GM 4 the On Star initiative but how often during a Car's lifetime do U run into serious life threatin crashes? Every month? Every Quarter? Do U know that On Star is a subscription based program? U R not a Toyota/Honda Fan, thats fair enough, but someone who's always been on the "Bench" will not appreciate being on "the field"
zelix5. Thats True. My Question is, What happens after a Year, and paying the extra cost to maintain the service doesnt fit your monthly budget? Just to be on the real side of things.
fit and finish of anything thats sitting in a dealer lot instrad of on the road is of course going to be better then somthing thats actualy being sold and driven
i have a 94 v6 camry... it has close to 300,000 miles. Never broke down and the engine runs perfectly! I bought a 2009 v6 camry and i love it just the same!
I bought brand new 2000 camry. Took really good care. Changed oil between 2-4k miles (recomended
5-7.5k). At 60k+ had blue smoke in the morning. Dealer charged me $1700 for valve seals (more then twice I spent all together on my 4 previous used cars). Dealer refused to provide reason for valve seal failure. Never again toyota.
dirt and grime accumulated in the engines, that does not nessesarily go away with oil change, new toyotas engines are upside down in order to make lower emissions engines, the spark plugs and oil filters are at the bottom of the car. I have the engine flushed every 6000 miles, oil change 3000 miles.
if you want a v6, look at the new Honda Accord, it has a new technology engine that shuts off 2 clydiners on the highways to save gas, and the V6 Accord is in great demand these days.
i will for sure but isnt the altima good to?hows the mailbu?i herd that its pretty good,if i get one im leasing it so that if it sucks after 3 years i could walk away.
Accord and Camry are still the best buy or lease, Altima is okay, the ride and handling also the fit and finish are not as good as the Camry or Accord. Malibu is GM and the less said about GM cars the better :)
camry better ride then altima, altima could go through the slawlom at 67.5 miles and the camry could only do 63,better ride and handling??noway:Pfit and finish is actually pretty good,to me after the 05-06 models most of them were good.
lol, cylinder deactivation is a gimmick, check out the EPA mileage the Accord gets, it's the same as a Altima & Camry. New engine but the transmission is still a regular 5speed auto from previous older models, when other newer cars today is using a 6speed and 7speed auto.
Sluge accumulation, engine being siezed, even the V6 Lexus had those problems. do a search Toyota took a slack on this and it did damage their reputation, also 2002 4 cl camry need to be stayed away from since it does not have a VVTI engine, which all the later models have.2002 4 cy camry performs miserably.
i had to change an 1mz motor on an avalon because the oil light was flickering but the driver kept driving and then wondered why it wouldn't turn over lol
Good vehicle, I feel when buying a Toyota you are paying for the name and residual value that is why i bought my sonata i got the savings upfront instead waiting when the car is paid off.
Strange how the quality of the new Camry doesn't measure up to that of older Camrys. At this point, I'd rather have an Altima or Accord over the new Camry... which is why I bought an '08 Altima. I don't regret it one bit either.
I was changing oil at around 3-4k miles (Toyota recommended 5k-7.5k). The last couple of years, I wasn't driving much so, I was changing oil around around 2.5k (4-5 months). I was also using synthetic oil lately which probably exposed the problem. I thought it would if there was one.
I've just had $1700 repair service on my Camry 2000 with 72k miles on it. My car was guzzling a quart (1L) of oil per 1500 miles. A sludge check that was supposed to be $90 ended up being rebuild of the head of the engine. Dealer "Charles Mound" in Austin got me big time. I sucked it up but that is the last money that Toyota is ever going to see from me. I'm done with Toyota forever.
I paid for the lesson. I was considering buying new Camry last spring but now all they can get from me is 8--
Look at the Honda Accord, it uses REGULAR FUEL and has better reliability than NIssan and Toyota, it has also won Car and Drivers 10 Best cars since 1982.
Actually, I do know how to take care of the car and was doing so more often then Toyota recommended. Nevertheless, when Toyota makes flawed engines there is not very much one can do about it. The thing that pissed me off most was that they didn't honor extended warranty.
In any event, I'm done with Toyota forever and ever.
