  • The fairies look like the boss from Stage 8 of Radio Zonde for me.

  • I thought the Quadruple Ones were dead. Sacrificed to power the karma compressor.

But then everything that happens to you after reaching the device seems to take place beyond the game's reality.

But why exactly did it stop working as expected? And just who are the Quadruple ones, anyway? And what is the Shrine of Farewell? Who are its residents? What exactly are the Prayers? Who are the executors?

Thinking about it is making my head spin. I really hope for a translation someday.

  • I just wonder how do I switch to other equipment for Kagura? As far as I know so does she have four different shot types.

  • I managed to translate the text during the Garland confrontation(after it leaves its "frame"). Here's what it says:

*Are you looking for something that was left behind?*

*Are you sure that what you left behind is here?*

*Now, let us commence the lost property returning procedures.*

*Memory of lost property verified, after checking that the ownership criteria is met.*

*We will complete the implementation of the return procedure.*

  • @XGluon

*Accordingly, as all tasks are completed.*

*We will close the Garden, ending the operation of all equipment.*

*Thank you very much for your patronage.*

*So, to the few that remain,*

    *Please, remember this place fondly.*

  • try tripping on acid while playing this game

  • Why the heck do all you people like the ending so much? It's so anticlimatic! You should be HATING the ending!

  • @XGluon

Sorry, it's just that I think that the game makers were lazy when they made the ending.

  • @XGluon

The game maker. It's just one guy, heh. I guess we love it so much due to how unexpected it is and because the whole thing continues on the Extra Stages (where you actually are entering the "Huge Necropolis" or something like that) then ultimately trying to return Lost Property 771 to Unnamed 771 (main reason why the boss on Extra Stage 2 cannot really be killed but dissolves on you). It would be cool to have a translation because the story appears to be quite interesting.

  • @GloriousLight

    I see.

  • @XGluon

I just don't like this game's lack of a proper ending.(Well, if the Epilogue(Which isn't on YouTube) doesn't count as a proper ending, that is)

  • @GloriousLight

I'll have you know that I am in the process of translating the story. I've got the manual pretty much ready. I would have had the other text files ready, had they not been encased .CTX files for some reason!

  • @XGluon

wow, that's very interesting and awesome to hear! You should post it at the shmups forum (there is a strategy section where it could go) I always wanted to know what's going on given how terribly hermetic, cryptic, weird and surreal this game is.

  • Is it possible to destroy the Quadruple Ones?

  • @XGluon

No. They are there for scoring purposes. The whole True Last Boss is a giant scoring part but can get ridiculously hard on higher stella (it increases rank) and the aura that does not cancel the "mistletoes" (the little fairy thingies released by the boss) and other bullets. Still, what a boss... I love that kind of over the top and surreal bosses.

  • Is this the REAL REAL final boss?

  • Indeed. It's the final boss and if you manage to meet certain conditions, you'll face the true last boss: Lost Property 771.

  • did anyone ever translate any of this? those text cutscenes in between stages really make me want to know what is going on.

  • Sadly, no. It's nowhere near as popular as Touhou and even Touhou got quite delayed in translation terms. I wish someone would pick it. Deadliar comes with a bunch of dialogue with the bosses and a lot of captions appear on screen... I can only explain that the texts displayed when the screen goes crazy (before the TLB appears) are telling you that 'Garland'/the System is about to release... a white cat, Lost Property 771.

    Quite odd.

  • what a shame. I say, if Touhou is good enough to be translated, so is this >:O

of course I would do it myself, but I don't know the first thing about ripping text and so on... I don't think translating the words themselves would be that hard, but actually taking ALL the dialogue, rendering it ALL into english, and putting it back would be immensely time-consuming.

still, I've been pretty obsessed with Hellsinker since I found out about it, and I'd be willing to do that much work.

  • I hope someone translates this game; it looks awesome!

  • DarkBahamut: Apparently, something locked both the kitty (Lost Property 771) and its owner (Unnamed 771, a girl) inside "Garland" for some obscure purposes. One of the few things I could get from the cryptic storytelling, which I advise you is weird even for the japanese.

LemGambino: Yes, that's the end. I prefer them not to stick to simpler things if they can do creative and obscenely weird stuff like this. I want more now. Sadly this is a love or hate case. No middle terms.

  • @GloriousLight

Actually, Lost Property 771 and Unnamed 771 weren't locked inside. Here's what actually happened, according to "The Quadruple One: Afterimage":

Unnamed 771 accidentally left Lost Property 771 behind while she was visiting the "Cardinal Shaft". However, Lost Property 771 was discovered by the Quadruple Ones one morning.

  • @XGluon

The Quadruple Ones, knowing that Lost Property 771 was waiting for something, decided to take it under their care.

When your character confronts Garland, the system thinks that your character is Lost Property 771's owner, and so decides to "give" it to your character.

  • @XGluon I would really love if this game got an English patch someday. Well I guess that's just wishthinking.

  • So your literally trying to beat the system?

  • O_o WTF at the end? It just...Went to white.

This game is very confusing. @_@ Why can't they stick with the simpler things?
