But for the benefit of those who might not get your subtle humor: of course the rhythm is not "falling out of tempo", or "stopping out of necessity". It is being played exactly the way it is supposed to be played. The rhythms are quite complicated, with patterns analogous to what would be called syncopation in the west.
Even with the cream of the crop such as yourself, you can see the fight to keep focused on both things at once. The rhythm usually falls out of tempo or stops completely for moments at a time out of necessity. I know its tradition, but why can't the guy who hits the drum once or twice every 15 seconds play that block while he is at it?
Don't get me wrong, I love your music. Your videos are what got me hooked on vietnamese traditional music that I've been missing out on all this time.
