@abredell A lot of it has to do with their complicated history. Mainly, that Dorian was once Viki's stepmother (she had married her father, Victor Lord). And Dorian had known that he was a monster, with what Victor had done to Viki (he repeatedly molested her, which explains Viki's Dissociative Identity Disorder). Despite their animosity, they do have a bond, which also has a lot of underlying respect.
This shows the complex relationship between Viki and Dorian. They hate one another like cat and dog; but yet, when the chips are down, they will go to the mat against someone from the outside, like Echo.
