This is a pretty retarded statement. Anyone who is a classically trained musician (rather than a pretentious snob) will be able to tell you that Type O Negative has far more talent than Sister's of Mercy. More than likely the person who made this statement is simply pandering to the "pet views" of wannabe elitist twats.
Peter had the most epic baritone that I've ever heard. Type O negative are the coolest band ever to use the goth aesthetic because they didn't take themselves too seriously and they still did their own thing. And their music is so epic and moody........man Type O fuckin Rules!!!!
What makes Type O a epic band in my opinion is how much you get from them in each song... not so much in 'Slow, Deep, and hard' (that was more of a pure metal record) but from 'Bloody Kisses' and especially 'October Rust' that's where they hit their 'sweet spot' so to say. In almost every song they break off into something completely different. Like this song at 2:38 it turns into something if thats all you heard, you would never know it was from the rest of Blood and Fire. Simply Amazing!

@UBERjamesBASYE Pete Steele was a S.O.M. fan and also a big fan of The Beatles and Dead Can Dance. Neither of these bands were really doom metal, but you can hear the huge Sabbath influence here. What he was most of all was a broadminded guy who listened to music because he liked it, same with the rest of the band. You can hear a bit of Type O Negative in something like Heartland early on or even Ribbons from Vision Thing.

What makes Type O a epic band in my opinion is how much you get from them in each song... not so much in 'Slow, Deep, and hard' (that was more of a pure metal record) but from 'Bloody Kisses' and especially 'October Rust' that's where they hit their 'sweet spot' so to say. In almost every song they break off into something completely different. Like this song at 2:38 it turns into something if thats all you heard, you would never know it was from the rest of Blood and Fire. Simply Amazing!

@UBERjamesBASYE Pete Steele was a S.O.M. fan and also a big fan of The Beatles and Dead Can Dance. Neither of these bands were really doom metal, but you can hear the huge Sabbath influence here. What he was most of all was a broadminded guy who listened to music because he liked it, same with the rest of the band. You can hear a bit of Type O Negative in something like Heartland early on or even Ribbons from Vision Thing.

This song is so awesome, and yes RIP Pete Steele, although I did hear, much to my dismay, that before his death he "found" christ. However, even such a smudge could never tarnish his legacy as one of the baddest, most brilliantly misunderstood men ever to bless our eardrums with his talent. He truly will be missed by many.

Always been my all time fav TON song. Goes way back to the fact it was the first album I heard from them. It got me addicted. Peter was one of a kind and he left us a lot of damn good music! We will always have that. Rest in peace!

I loved peter so much and i only got into them in feb 2010 and as you know he sadly passed in the april. and although i only loved a short time i loved a life times worth an was truly heart broken. I wished i'd known them longer, so I want my kids to know them all their lives <3 xx
