Love her.. She is the NO 1 ranked Junior in the world at the moment and she has the right to be the No 1 ranked. I believe Jordyn Weiber is 2nd and then Amelia Racea is 3rd. Komova has great style, I'm counting on her being healthy for 2012.
Vontrappster.... heard it being discussed on International Gymnast forum - they had a thread on there about the rankings of Juniors based on their scores - it was a toss between Komova and Weiber... Hope that helps you out with your "GET A CLUE": attitude....
um, gossip/rankings done on a message board are not official in any way, shape, or form. furthermore, scores between events cannot be compared, because each event can have wildly different scoring, with some events being much more lax and others being much more strict.
hmm that's a bit rude vontrappster no offense. the fact of the matter is komova currently has the highest AA start value among the juniors. she hasn't lost a single competition she's competed in and would have fallen twice at 09 worlds and still won. as it stands she is posting the highest scores for a gymnast junior OR senior.
@vontrappster of course not you're right, none of it is an official ranking at all. it is unforunate that there is no sort of world international level competition for the juniors. in my opinion komova stands out enough to be counted as the top junior right now. i'm not sure about her being the top gymnast among seniors despite her scores or start value, but definitely among the juniors she is no doubt the best. it's hard to rank the others because their performance results are too close.
I agree that she has fantastic promise, but let's not forget that the Russians have always had promising juniors. The trouble is that they often seem to peak too early or become mired in injuries. Maybe they are over-trained (or have substandard equipment/training facilities)? Anyway, with the recent return of two top Soviet coaches to lead Russian gymnastics things are definitely looking up for the Russian women.
I wonder why she took out her amazing flick-layout-arabian acro pass?? Who are the Soviet coaches in charge of Russian gymnastics?? Sounds very interesting and promising!
The other guy is Aleksandr Aleksandrov, head coach of the legendary 1989 Soviet team and Svetlana Boguinskaya's favourite coach. Let's hope he brings Russia back to the top of the podium instead of them struggling to just get among the medals.
You can totally tell, she looks exactly like her mother! She's already an amazing gymnast and she's only 13! Let's hope she stays injury-free, she can be a major star in the future!
omg she's so tiny here!

Viktoria is the daughter of the beautifully elegant and graceful Soviet gymnast Vera Kolesnikova. She looks like her mother a lot.

I believe she is 13 here. A few bobbles to clean up, but lovely execution and flexibility. Nice routine.
