Top school janitors make an average of 20$/hr. so you think we should take a job from a janitor that needs the money, and then pay 30 kids ~65 cents an hour? makes no sense to me. what if one of the kid janitors had a parent that used to be the janitor? This idea is great in principal, but is not practical, and would never fly. But I do think kids could definitely benefit from a job that provides trade/vocational training.

Top school janitors make an average of 20$/hr. so you think we should take a job from a janitor that needs the money, and then pay 30 kids ~65 cents an hour? makes no sense to me. what if one of the kid janitors had a parent that used to be the janitor? This idea is great in principal, but is not practical, and would never fly. But I do think kids could definitely benefit from a job that provides trade/vocational training.

This is a free-market society, not a democracy. You cannot succeed in this country if you don't at least attempt to gain some capital for yourself. Why would you WANT the government to help you out? I understand where Newt is coming from. We have an atrocious national deficit, and much of it is due to over-exstention to welfare programs. The government needs to view welfare as an investment to the poor, to help make them sufficient tax paying citizens. Away with the class system!

I love how the blacks make calim to food stamps. They take it so personal they think it is part of their culture. Foodstamps were NEVER EVER designed for blacks.
It was designed for the poor and needy. I'm sorry, but yes, people other than blacks deserve food stamps. This is not THEIR PROGRAM and the fact that a black president has given out more food stamps than jobs doesn't mean only blacks are deserving. Jobs are what is needed, not food stamps, and for all peoople, not just blacks!

The problem is his suggestion of only the poor. He essentially is promoting those that are poor to work medial positions, where as those who are born privileged he makes no attempt to suggest the importance of work ethic for them. So does this mean that a privileged student should not be required to also work the cafeteria counters and clean lavatories? This is my problem with Gingrich and his statements. Finally, the food stamp remarks are ignorant and debase the President's position

Yes, its domestic, but the concept lowers wages, standard of living and education standards. Newt has a point that NEEDS to be developed.
