I just re-read David Foster Wallace's A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again, and more specifically David Lynch Keeps His Head. He mentions this entomophagy, hence my re-viewing this jazz. Whether or not it is a bug, the suggestion is wonderfully obvious.

One of my favorite lines from the movie: "it's all over", followed by the cut to Frank Booth with brains splattered all over the rug. Oh yeah, fuck WMG. Cancer on the entertainment world. We all hate you.

The movie ends with a "bookends", as it started with the peaceful suburban setting and the disturbing beetles (being eaten by the bird). When she hugged her son, it was quite a moving scene for me first time I watched this over 15 years ago when I saw it in VHS.

Really nice and deep film. Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, Isabella Rossellini and Dennis Hopper showed brilliant acting. The ending was just awesome. I miss the 80's and 90's - best era in cinematography

No offense to people who like this movie, but I seriously have no idea why this picture is considered a 'classic'. It was decent, but not great by any stretch of the imagination. 'Lost Highway' and 'Eraserhead' were way better IMHO.

No, the bug is Frank, the crime underworld that Jeffrey stepped into (as shown in the opening scene of the movie with the bugs under the grass), the robin is Jeffrey symbolizing that Jeffrey (robin) got Frank (bug) at the end and all was well.

That's so sad... Frank's victims suffer in the most horrible ways while the responsible for their pain just leave this world without suffering! Doesn't this make you fucking angry?

frank was suffering before hand anyway. Why do you think he was hurting those people in the first place? Wouldn't torturing frank make you as bad as him? But, you got to admit that head shot was pretty slick.

The slickness of that head shot doesn't make it the right thing to do. And I don't agree that torturing Frank would make me bad as him, because people like him are NOT people, they're inhuman monsters without any dignity who deserve to suffer, while Frank tortured innocent people and he made a poor mother live in hell.
