There are a lot of goods shops to become maiko in Kyoto

And yet you forget that the women, and more prominently, the girls, who have chosen this particular career path are in fact just that, women and girls. They enjoy modern outings just as much, if not more so, than their high school counterparts. That aside, you can easily discern a fake maiko because they wear brightly colored kimonos rather than black, and they never dress as geiko. These two women are quite genuine. Nice try though...
