@MeTubb wider grip will help him drive much easier however it's probably hurting his swing, I'd bet if he could adjust his grip he would not only maintain a powerful drive but also gain power in his long sweep, and given a straight left leg he would continue to load the pole

I don't know what you meant by your comment, but 15'3 is a pretty typical grip to clear 17ft.... Your not going to to see very many people gripping 16 and only making 17ft.. The first time I jumped 17' I was gripping 14'10. Now if he jumped 18ft with that grip, I think then you could count that as incredible. No smart ass comments needed no matter who your daddy is and how much you "think" you know about vaulting.
listen i dont claim to know everthing about polevaulting i just hate when someone says something good about a video and then someone goes and puts something negative like that on the video thats all. at no time is 2 feet a bad pushoff
You are absolutely correct, 17ft is extremely impressive for a high school kid. (Phenomenal)... And he is an excellent jumper; my comment was just based on his grip vs how high he jumped. Wasn't trying to take anything away from him, so I apologize if my comments lead you to believe that,
Dang Casey you are the textbook example of finishing the take off quickly and swinging right afterwords, way to keep the energy moving and nice jump!!
We are the thinking the same thing, i just think finishing the take off means getting into a strong inverted C position. Once you hit that C position, you are not gaining any extra energy by waiting there, you need to swing.
He swings way too soon off the ground for a pole that long

he gets a very low bend on the pole...i must meditate on this

Yes he does. I've tried to fix this for four years now. What can you do when they simply refuse to do it?
MeTubb 2 years ago
ahh it's kind of bothering me now that i watch it again. he could get higher if he just moved that bottom hand up!

Thats a Very Efficient Vault.
17+ feet from a 15'3 hand hold? That's incredible for a high school vaulter.

actually you dont want to go to your back immediately after takeoff. you need to get a Good drive in there first. Sick jump nonetheless
