Because in Risen you can't expect to start a new game and go in and destroy everything.

Like the Gothic series you have to build your way up to being a strong player, and even at higher levels Ogres are tough enemies.

Just avoid high level enemies at the beginning, until you can get strong enough to actually give them a challenge. Get better armor, better skills, and then you can win. Gothic 1 and 2 taught me that :D The orcs were fuck ball hard in Gothic 1 and 2.

this is one of the things i've always admired about the Gothic types, is that they make games challenging. I remmeber first playing gothic 1, dying over and over again> getting mad, then i stopped and realized " why would i want this game to be easy " so i was patient and watched my moves, and the opponents moves, and waited for the right time to strike ,and then i fell in love!

lol, you dont even have workers clothes. It wasn't until I had the charge-up attack with sword was I able to truly kill multiple hard monsters.

Hard? Risen is easy even if you play on "hard"! You're just not supposed to kill ogres in 1st chapter, but it's possible too.

I started owning all monsters once I got my staff skill up to level 7 or so.

You get a nice charge up attack.

Haha, I can take a ogre... But he still owns me on 2 hits X'D... Just use your charge attack and dodge back all the time :)

whi this game is so hard? well for starters u got like the 2nd sword and the 1st shield you encounter in the game, and no armor at all. you cant expect to kill an ogre in your early days
