  • Nice example. How about demonstrating the Meissner effect?

  • haha idiot,

  • Theese are cool... they could be good, like safety in the car.. when you hit a wall, magnetic field makes you not to hit driving wheel of windshield, because you're mostly made of water and magnetic field will stop you.. umh.. or maybe not.. but mmh... hey! They are cool to stare at! I love watching them. How much it would cost to send one to me?

  • super conductors

  • 3:43

    DON'T SAY HIS NAME!

  • i like you.

  • Thank you!

  • Schooner Faire rocks! ... we the people, portland town,leviathan... etc

  • Haha! Yeah they do! I've been hearing those songs since I was little. Can't believe someone noticed that shirt. You rock!

  • that is not diamagnetic levitation that is magnetic levitation

  • Haha, that's a good sense of humor you have there!

  • Every other scene your clothes and voice quality changes!

  • cant we isolate magnetic forces?

  • how can we learn to wield that force and oppose it to the planet gravity to make things float? like antigravity ships and sci fi stuff

  • u can stabilize the magnet using ur fingers as well

  • make a vacuum in the tube, stick that thing in the ground and use a laser to measure the movement, and you've got a new ultrasensative seismometer

  • Awesome idea!

  • Thomas go to Europe dude, they are using magtnetism to levitate trains for about 15 years already!!! the same concept with eletric power to create the magnet poles.

  • Andre it's a 'diamagnetic levitation demonstrator' dude. Powered levitation operates on the same principle but powerless diamagnetic levitation is still interesting. The concept did originate in Europe, around 120 years ago, congratulations.

  • "I'll make them in different sizes to play with!" (thats what she said)

    haha couldnt help myself

  • Oh man, I missed that one - nice catch.

  • hes funny

  • thats very cool i also have a very high intersting science ,physics and would like to get on i make little homopolar motors ....and stuff and would like to make a diamagnet levitation device

  • Homopolar motors are fun. I tried to make one utilizing Ferrofluid as the rotor so it would behave as a pump but I never finished the prototype.

  • this is great. edu-tainment, the wave of the future!

  • How exactly do you mane one of these?? Please share :)

  • It's basically 2 bismuth plates and a little magnet in the middle. The housing is clear acrylic, the fittings are clear vinyl. The screw is just to adjust the lifting magnet. All the stuff is available on eBay.

  • haha someone wishes he was Bill Nye the science guy

  • Nah, I wish I was Mr. Wizard. Bill Nye wishes he were Mr. Wizard too - that makes Bill and me sort of like wish-brothers. That means if we want to we can control time.

  • I'll try that but I doesn't have paypal

  • unitednuclear(dot)com(slash)chem(dot)htm.

I got mine off eBay but this site has some. Or just google 'lab supply' or something'.

I used the 10g .5" pellets. I tried the 25g .5" pellets but it didn't get the gap any wider. I think pyrolytic graphite is more diamagnetic by mass but bismuth is cheaper.

  • it wouldn't let me post the url properly

  • where can I buy bismuth?

  • try eBay.

  • I think this might be even funnier than the jelly fride video :P

  • i feel like a bit of a tit for favouriting this, but dude, that little thing is ace...not ace enough to buy though, well not in my oppinion but still great to stare at on my screen. ace video dude.

  • thanks!

  • XD I made one of these lol a huge one well like the size of a jumbo sharpie.

  • Great pesentation!

  • nice video
