  • I played this song and i had trouble swiching to "g" any helpful tips?

  • @Theaqwcommentary Isolate the parts you have trouble with, Extra Practice on the hard parts (that part you have trouble switching to "G")...do it at least 10 to 20 times/ a day for a couple of weeks...it will get easier...use a metronome if you have one and start slow...Good Luck. Thanks for watching.

  • This is so beautiful. I fell in love with this song when I was little and heard Didi sing it to Dill on the rugrats ( I'm not really that old.. just 18 ) But I never heard a whole lot of lullaby's when I was younger but this one always stayed in my head. Thank you for posting your video! I hope I can learn to play like you someday!

  • @crisy003

    Thanks.

  • Beautiful Dreamer brings back many wonderful memories someone I knew. He shall turn 75 on15/1/ 2011 & I wish him a very happy 75th. Due to life's uncertainties, & my judgemental errors, I lost him as a dear friend and someone i hold close to my heart.. He no longer wants to hear from me, or communicate with me. I hope if he ever listens to this song somewhere, somehow sometime, - he will know that I am thinking of him, every waking moment until the sun turns cold and the stars grow old.

  • You play a mean guitar fellow, very, very nice.

  • @apenny4urthots You said it all,partner.

your ver. is ok, mine needs reworking

    chk it out at ddanze

  • Btw Thanks--I forgot about this tune. Thanks for checking it out.

  • I just found the tab for this arrangement with someone else's name on it: Hashim Al Daghistani. Can you confirm that Jason Waldron arranged this? I redid the tab and I'd like to give credit to the right person. It's a nice arrangement and you did it justice.

  • Thanks.

"Oldwhtman" is meant "older" not "old" right--ha ha. This is from Jason Waldron's book "Fnger picking the Classics" Volume 1. I believe it is his (Jason) transcription as all songs in the book seem to have his similar transcription style. I know what you mean on giving proper credit. Back in Stephen Foster's day, everyone was ripping off Mr. Foster's music--he died young, with only 37 cents in his pocket!

  • Thanks for getting back to me on this. I'm contemplating doing a video of this myself. Now I can give proper credit.

  • NICE JOB. KEEP AT IT. BEATLES RULE!!

  • Thanks "722", I try. And a "Beatles" instrumental is in order one of the days.

    --Van

  • very nicely done 5/5

  • Hey, Thanks "Hamilton".

    --Van

  • Very well played, but you should play softer with those nylon strings. It would bring a better tone and would allow you to emphasise or more fully express different points in the song.

  • I know what you mean (the softer tone)--I sound like a steel string guitar. But I admit, sometimes I like to play it loud and "rough" ... I'm getting "into" the song--like this one--For "Stephen F".

    --Van

  • Beautiful playing, Werner. I like it very much.

    Best regards

    Martin

  • Thank you Martin. I'm honored by your Gracious comment.

    --Werner

  • Yea I really like this!! It's really good!!

  • Just for the record--I really appreciate it! Thanks.

    --Van

  • Oh, Thank you "Hamilton". Mr. Foster's song is a "classic".

    --Van

  • very well done. keep up the good job

  • Thanks "mate". BTW, the trascription was done by Jason Waldron a fellow "Aussie"--ha ha.

    --Van

  • Err, I meant "transcription".

  • Nice song and tone

    Regards,

    BlueJazzyClassic

  • Thanks (very much)! I love this song. It's the emotion. One you can humm too... to.

    --Van

    --Van

  • Thanks "pancake".

I wanted to post "My Old Kentucky Home" (Stephen Foster) on the day of the Kentucky Derby (the "Derby's" theme song), but I couldn't find my song book--but I've found it since. Look for it soon--it's really pretty.

    --Van

  • nice

  • Thanks "Daisy". I plan on posting "My Old Kentucky Home", (another Stephen Foster song), soon.

    --Van

  • What a beautiful piece! Thanks, Van!

  • Thank you Julie. It is "beautiful" (like a youtube "classicalguitarist" I know, ha ha) Rather catchy tune also. It's a strange song, A Happy song and sad song at the same time. Later...

    --Van

  • Applause again!

  • Most excellent!

  • Thanks, or rather thank Stephen Foster.
