to fix the wireless, all you need to do is get a wireless card from a 5735z and cut the green circuit board to make it fit.. problem solved i have never had this problem since

Too bad to see you were having issues on such an awesome computer! Looks like your screen ribbon was either loose of faulty. Did this get addresses by the seller? Also the wireless is an admitted issue on these machines, but is very easily fixed. This is all worth doing for a computer that packs such an awesome punch!

dont know how widespread this problem is but it could be just a bad egg. Try exchanging for another and if that one fails get a refund.

I'm guessing the the screen problem is something to do with the dual video option.. update all drivers.. check the switch that selects which video card? iv just ordered one of these yesterday.... for £698 which was a steal!! I'm giving it a complete check up as soon as It comes.. thanks for the heads up

Had a fair amount of issues with this model as well. Wifi generally unstable, crashes computer when trying to diagnose the problem. Updated drivers helped for wireless in my flat, but for reasons beyond me doesn't work on many other networks. Screen randomly goes black. Everything still running, sound works fine, but no picture. Requires a reboot. All in all very disappointing, although I'm sure most of it can be fixed if you have the knowledge and means to do so.

I bought another network card alongside this model after reading a suggeston from newegg. But, here's the thing - I can't connect to the net through ethernet. Is ANYONE else having this issue? I'm up to date on the LAN drivers - gonna try for the BIOS 1.06 download, although I'm pretty certain I'd already have it (bought this in mid-November).

Any help would be great. I was told by someone to wait for the 1.1 update do the BIOS, but I can't be sure that'll ever actually happen.

I had Acer 8943G too. After upgrade wireless driver and BIOS, it works for windows 7 now. However, it does not work for linux (yes, I have dual OS). If someone knows the answer for linux, I would like to know.

Ah wait! Check out the acer.co.uk website for the 8943G. Under the drivers page there is a new broadcom wireless lan driver out which fixes the problem apparently.

Problem still occurs with the Atheros AR5B93 wireless PCI card. The news bios firmware and the latest drivers don't fix the problem... Shame on Acer !! Espacially when we know the price of the laptop...

I had the same problem, took it straight back and got a replacement, and fingers crossed no problems now. But if it does, I will take it back and demand a refund/exchange- probably a Toshiba Qosmio X500 or Sony Vaio F...

I still the same problem with the wifi, even after the latest driverupgrade from acer. It sucks! Need to restart the wifi-device every minute, almost. Hardwareproblem? Possible to change the module myself?

Wireless problem FIXED. I have updated my driver for the WiFi and I have not had a problem since. I am connected to my Wireless N network at 130Mbps. Glad I did not return it. It is the ONLY computer I could find at any price that had ALL the features I was looking for. I just hope all the hard reboots didn't mess it up too bad. If you get one, make sure you update the WiFi driver before you do anything else. It is available at the Acer support website.

i had the same problem where my backlight only came on when i moved my screen in certain positions. just send it back and they'll fix it or give you a new one if the problems are too extensive

Have the same computer... use it everyday to play on the internet and watch movies and stuff. I have no problems with it :)

well the main problem is still the wifi, the screen just seem to have a loose connection, should check the cable ur self or send it back for repair.

i got my acer 8943 like 2 month back.. and it works perfect and it is just very god i love it it plays most games in high and the newest in medium and after the first person comes in with a error on a computer they change it in all of the new ones
