  • @gruzitect it's a Caribou outfitted with 4 jets instead of 2 radial engines

  • The front kinda looks like the a10 warthog I wonder if it influenced the design? Im probably just being a post-nightshift retard however.... time to go to bed :/

  • Yeah, with 4 engines, u can launch or receive even a concrete brick.

  • @whitefangex it's actually a part of north Carolina... Yeah I agree but kitty hawks would look so cool!

  • Also used by the Russians for the Antonov An-72 and 74.

  • its so manly us...kitty hawk lmfao

  • This aircraft is inspired from the French Breguet 941 STOL propeller aircraft with blast wings.

Mac Donnell evaluate the 941 under the name MD188 and american pilots from US Airforce and Nasa dammage it 2x heawely with realy stupid manoeuvers...5 Breguet 941 was in service in the French Airforce from 1967 to 1974 without accident...One survive in the "Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace" in Paris-Le Bourget

  • usb technology

  • OMG. That takeoff was insane. At least with another plane.

    Awesome.

  • What was the approach speed in the seccond landing?

  • Pure Coanda Effect!

  • i miss when NASA had money and was dedicated!

  • Take an allready superb STOL aircraft, replace it's twin prop engines with QUADRUPLE jet engines and you have a magical beast that can take off and stop on a dime.

  • One of the best aircraft NASA ever built. It was built from a C-8A Buffalo pulled from Davis Monthan, but the wing was built by NASA from scratch. It has a lot of fly-by-wire and glass cockpits built in as well. This was a skunk works operation on a shoestring budget - proof that NASA used to be able to do good things. Not any more - the place is a total meltdown and waste of the taxpayers money!

  • Why didn't they use this? Sure it was an experiment, but it was so successful and carried more than the C-2.

  • smart design :P

  • Wich plane is that one ?

  • It's a knock off of a Beriev.

  • @SignoroIncognito this design is much older then the Beriev

  • Ugly and awesome at the same time in my opinion, so its cool in my book =]

  • @denmalski

    its a DHC 8A Buffalo

  • @TayouJin Yep, Antonov An-72/74 which is in use with Soviet armed forces since 70s. Btw, it may be Ukrainian made so it is PC to buy it.

  • @zipacna1980 Shaddup fool!

  • STOL is so cool.

  • it looks like they put jet engines on a DHC-5 Buffalo

  • It sure does!!!!!

  • they did

  • @denmalski that's exactly what they did ;

  • @denmalski They did!

  • @denmalski You should check the video description...."The aircraft is a highly modified De Havilland C-8A Buffalo consisting of a new swept, supercritical wing and 4 YF-102 geared, high-bypass-ratio turbofan engines mounted in an "over-the-wing" installation. Upper surface blowing is used to generate high-lift coefficients to provide low approach speeds and steep approach path angles." lol ;)

  • @denmalski The did :)

  • @denmalski Yeah it does.

  • Thats gonna poke somones eye out!

  • Haha it has avro engines and a dehaviland airframe. I find that funny seeing as how the turbo buffalo could probably do the same thing

  • rare vidéo ?
