  • Anderson is a fucking genius!!!

  • LOL great Bill

  • DOTA2!

  • thats me after another dota2 betakey wave, without having a key.

  • ralleigh...please...

  • Love the harp haha

  • 4 people dont want Ralleigh St Clair to die

  • i love the dialog in this film and the Darjeeling ltd, sad and honest. how pretentious of me!

  • fucking selfish bitches

  • Four people... ah... forget it.

  • Best role of Bill Murray, hes so sad and boring...

  • I always thought he didn't eat the cookie because he caught himself before he did, not wanting to do something outwardly insignificant right after a very heavy statement. If he ate the cookie, that would say to Margot that he is ready to move on, and he didn't want to send that message. Eating or not eating a cookie shouldn't be very important, but in this mind of this idiosyncratic character, in that moment, it apparently was. Brilliant touch of characterization.

  • the harp really 'makes' this scene.

  • He's apparently based on Oliver Sacks in this?

  • @4gearkier

that's certainly the impression that i get

  • GOD

  • Such an amazing movie. These margot scenes make me melt.

  • This is the closest we'll get to a Franny and Zooey movie.

  • i dont get it. Can someone please explain to me why they love that scene?

  • @whinger1234 Because of Bill Murray's delivery! It's genius. :)

  • @whinger1234 It's the absurdity of it. And the understand emotions. Genius.

  • Ebert has it right that Bill Murrary specializes in playing the guy you want to see more of.

  • only bill murray could make that line adorable

  • that fucking bitch....... Bill doesnt deserve that... he deserves better!

  • Are you a bug Bill Murray?

  • serious delirium

  • BILL FUCKING MURRAY

  • Bill Murray love him

  • The biscuit is a Petite Madeleine, a reference to A la Recherche du Temps Perdu by Marcel Proust - the book which Jane reads to her unborn child in The Life Aquatic.

  • oh my god

  • I thought that I was so clever in catching that, Dipthefal, only to find that a gazillion others had as well, as posted online.

I hate realizing that I can be just as pretentious as those I claim to loath, it's embarrassing.

  • I couldn't even begin to think about knowing how to answer that question.

  • I love this scene.

  • Genius.

  • This little snippet of a scene encompasses the entirety of the movie. At first and on the surface its a funny, awkward scene, but re-watch it a few times and you se just how heartbreaking and sad it is.

  • Ha ha ha one of my favorite scenes

  • I love Bill Murray's delivery of the line. When I first saw it I laughed just because it was such a random thing to throw out like that, but now it kinda breaks my heart when I watch it. I agree with some of the other posters aswell, I love how he decides not to eat the biscuit at the last minute!

  • this is amazing

  • The way he just stops as he's about to eat the biscuit has me in stitches also.

  • i dont know how anyone could not like wes anderson films

  • @wanderings0ul Watch one and you'll find out.

  • Beautiful scene!

  • One of Mr. Murray's best deliveries.

  • girls have such power of us.

she just rejects me and does not feel bad at all .

    well. i . want. to . die

  • I know. I laugh a bit because the way he just throws out such a depressing thing is a bit funny in the vein of Anderson's typically melodramatic sense of humor, but its also just a very real thought.

  • Finally, a coherent and intelligent comment posted on youtube! You just made my day...

  • lol coherence is certainly a rarity on this site.

  • The cast of this movie is so amazing..... definitely one of the best movies ever made.

  • I love how Ralleigh is about to eat the cookie but he doesn't. XD lolol great clip lol. This movie is a hilarious and quirky yet dramatic and deep masterpiece. Wes Anderson is amazing.

  • Are you serious, dude?

  • Twat.

  • masterpiece.

  • absolutely hilarious

  • bahahahahah he can't eat the cookie. this movie is so amazing

  • lol

  • lol

  • this movie makes me cry

  • The suicide scene is art.

  • I concur.

  • Hither Twice.

  • in the end, when royal gives chas and the boys a new dog, chas breaks up and the way he says: 'its been a rough year dad', made me cry, so sad

to me, that sentence was more emotional than the whole suicide scene

  • yeah I agree that's a very touching scene in this movie....what a great movie one of the best ever

  • Comment removed

  • COMPLETELY agree! breathtaking moment.

  • OMG, I am the exact same!!

  • *sets up a camcorder*

  • LOL gotta love Bill

  • lol.

  • haha if you think this is funny check out "have you seen my son"

  • hey man, if you've got a problem with it then dont watch it. just because it doesnt appeal to you in particular doesnt mean its bad, its just your opinion, and you're entitled to it, but dont try and ruin it for anyone else. thank you.

  • hahaha i love bill murray

  • I love these tragicomedies!

  • please stop fighting at my video, there's too much screaming I can't STAND anymore !!

  • idk that was pretty funny to me.

  • how many of you have actually seen Bottle Rocket?

  • I like Bottle Rocket....least fav of Wes Anderson's movies (fav is Rushmore, then Life Aquatic)....but Bottle Rocket is really good and really hilarious.

  • I thought Rushmore was one of his better. Wes Anderson to me was always one of those directors that has a style good enough to be considered classic and a lot of potential...but just makes crumby movies every now and then. I agree with the Life Aquatic verdict by the way.

  • Oh, pity Raleigh :(

  • I think that both of you are correct. This scene did dispay a unique sense of human nature (Bill Murray probably played the most underrated role in this film) but Wes Anderson's films are usually surreal in a pseudo-realistic way. It's like a little bubble of his imagination, where these impossibly bizzare things are happening and yet it all seems strangely real to the audience.

  • For all the Wes Anderson/Royal Tenenbaum's bashers and supporters out there, Wes Anderson's style of directing and writing is definitely a required taste. Look at the films for the masses, they are hugely different. Just agree to disagree and get on with your life's!

  • You couldn't have had a more perfect comment. Good job!

  • Damn, you used some big words there toward the end, I guess that means you must be right...dumbass

  • Easy, stereo. Big words are nothing to be afraid of. They're just as afraid of you as you are of them, but deep down they just want to be your friends.

  • Haha, that's perfect. I'm going to have to remember that one.

Seriously though, "masturbatory" is a bit too much. I'll agree that it's considerably artsy but I think it makes the movie just that much more charming. It definitely still counts as cinema; it just has an odd little spin to it.

  • I disagree with hypersquared.

I understand the point you are making. But I think it's stylized nature doesn't detract from quality or attempt to distract from any lack of quality. I believe if it weren't so "artsy" in editing, directing, etc it would not be as good a movie as it is. But the masturbatory nature you accuse it of, I find appealing and refreshing.

I think it tries to be a quirky movie, and although it tries a little hard, it still succeeds. (unlike movies like Juno)

  • that line deliver is bill murray perfection!

  • re buena esa película..

cómica pero a la vez a cagar de depresiva... sobre todo esa parte...

  • Perfect delivery, funny and real at the same time. I love that line.

  • Well, I want to DIE...Oh say no more, I'm already laughing to death...

  • poor fella

  • Absolutely perfect.

  • How he just matter-of-factly states that he wants to die is hillarious.

    I mean...it's just great.

  • agreed. he definetly deserves to die if he loaths this movie. tasteless bastird

  • It is all about that cookie. Brilliant.

  • Bill Murray is great in all of Anderson's movies. And Lost in Translation.

  • his timing is priceless... soooo funny...

  • good lord, you don't deserve to live, then. you're an idiot with no taste.

  • Then don't even watch it, buffoon.

  • well then DON'T watch it. jeeeez.

  • oh ok, sorry. x

  • it is comical because of the awkwardness. if you haven't seen the movie you might not understand the quirky style of the film and the unique humor used. i think this scene is very real and human. human relations cannot be rehearsed. people don't know what to say or do, and it can be awkward. that same idea came through in this scene.

  • Actually, that was my description of the movie as a whole, not that specific scene. I'm not denying there were isolated moment of humanity in the movie, just that they were drowned out by Wes Anderson's juvenile preoccupation with the graphic elements of his movie. For what it's worth, "The Darjeeling Limited" was a huge step forward for him.

  • i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. i respect your opinions.

  • because...

  • evian you're a moron who probably loves the beatles for the namesake

  • Would you care to eleborate on that? It sounds a bit moronic and immature to just say, 'You suck' Like you're 7 or something.

  • hahahahahaha!

    yes

  • I definitely wouldn't say anything about that film was juvenile.

  • i understand what you're trying to say about the darjeeling but i think it seems that way because the movie as a whole portrays more emotion. it was a great movie but i still like the royal tenenbaums more and i don't see anything juvenile about it.

  • well if you haven't watched it how can you say so much about one small clip??? If you don't understand the tone of the film it probably is because you *decided* to ignorantly state an opinion

  • lol. so good

  • lol..YAYY!:D:D

  • i love how throughout the whole movie Margot Tenanbaum's hair never changes from the time she's a kid till then. in fact, all the Tenanbaum's hair is like that. and its awesome.

  • i'm at a loss for words. great scene yea?

  • This is one of my favorite parts of the movie, seeing Bill Murray's brilliant subtle expression. Love it! "Well I wanna die" and then he grabs the biscuit. Priceless!

  • hahah he doesn't quite GRAB it. that would be really funny though if he did. like really quickly and shoving it in his mouth. x

  • I'll drink to that

  • Bill Murray is a comedic genius.

  • then he grabs the cookie, but he can't eat it cause his stomach has dropped out of his ass

  • I love how she's wearing that raccoon coat. such a subtle reference to how she's based on franny glass ehh.

  • best movie ever i love wes anderson movies.

  • brilliant
