I never really try the other characters but I've won with Satan a few times as well. In the game there is a little box at the bottom of your screen where you can look at the character keys and play the game at the same time.
All characters are great. I've won the whole Bible Fight (including God) with just Mary before. Its not hard. Any character is fine. You just need to be careful and know what you're doing.
I won Satan by going as far away from him as I could and throwing the halo through the whole battle. I beat him in less than a minute.
Again, all characters are good, but many people have certain choices as they can control them better. My favorite is Mary.

Moses is the most powerful, imo. Just use Stone Tablets, and he'll beat anyone in 10 seconds or less.
