  • I saw Rassan Roland Kirk in Sydney Town Hall, 3rd row, about 1973. 3 piece band that sounded like full jazz band. It was unbelievable. I was a big fan - Volunteered Slavery was my favorite album. I couldnt believe I had been listening to only one guy playing sax (es) until I saw him live.

  • see it :)

  • I`ve looked all over for the modern jazz clip from the same concert. Would love to seed it if you got it. But this aint bad .)

  • I was born in 1970 and I feel like I missed out. Just in time, I suppose. :)

  • Yes you did miss out. I saw Roland Kirk do this in an LA jazz club when i was 17, late 60's. I was on acid, fucking far out. you got the shitty end of the stick with rap and hip hop crap.

  • damn no musicians whit this caliber these days, i´m 22 but i feel i was born in the wrong era

  • I've listened/watched this clip over 100 x's & always get the same uplifting feeling of energy & renewed strength. What great gifted musicians! WOW RASHAAN circular breathing 3 horns at same time, voicin' out sax arrangement/fingerings, plus blowing great improvised lines, leading the band, testifying, singing & playing other instruments, all while groovin' beyond belief! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Rashaan & thankyou for the audio-video clip.

  • Rashaan rips through that tune ....he was and is ununderated giant...this is a beautifully "crazy-wayout" clip..adore/love it! watch, listen and learn.

  • off the hook

  • How does he do it

  • It's all about the duct tape sax! But damn! He sounds like a frickin' orchestra!

  • He was the "man" of Jazz at that particular time.
