I don't believe there is such a thing as a social libertarian. I've been a Libertarian for a couple decades and the main motto is that we each own our own body & lives, are free to do what we please as long as no harm is caused to another, no govt. or IRS or Social Security, no taxes, nothing forced, only courts to protect our rights & get paid for damages. Study more at the national website libertarian com I believe.
@gmj2012 So no one should enforce crimes using the threat of violence? Seriously the arguments of libertarians are childish and I have studied them all. The arguments are extremely narrowed to prevent you from looking at all the logical conclusions if you make certain assumptions. My latest video on Ron Paul has a link in the bottom bar debunking libertarian all claims.
@anubis2814 Why would violence lower crime rates? Hasn't worked so far in centuries of threatening violence for crimes. Instead making the criminal PAY--money or actual work--for the damages caused, is a much better deterrent plus we taxpayers would not be footing the prison bills while they lazed around for years. Prisons don't rehabilitate nor deter crime. There's nothing childish about making people accountable for their actions, nor making them pay for consequences.
@gmj2012 So what happens if they don't want to pay off the fines we give them? Let them walk free? Prisons in Europe and Japan Actually do rehabilitate, but that's because they view crime as a psychological problem, not in the black and white punishment based system. Most of Europe has up to 1/10 the prisoners that we do. Being altruistic is something we are all capable of. around 5% fit into the psychopath and sociopath categories. The rest are pushed to crime by desperation, or psyc damage
@anubis2814 They won't have a choice, if they want to survive, their wages could be garnished, they certainly couldn't go on welfare or get unemployment just because they don't want to pay; they'b be indentured to whoever they owe the money to, if they refused to work or pay otherwise. But I'm not an expert at all the points that could be made on this topic. If you truly want to know, read some of the literature & check out their national web site, you can ask them your questions.
I'm still deciding on whether or not to remove my subscription after this video. I'm sick and tired of hate rhetoric regarding Corporate America. Continue living your lives hating someone "corporate fatcats" for figuring out how to get you to spend your money at their establishment. Continue spending money at Walmart and on gasoline. It's consumer demand that keeps it going, so blame yourselves. A world where hard work doesn't get you ahead (socialism) is a world I want no part of.
@NoxiousOdor I would respond, but we clearly have our differences in how we view the issues. If you wish you can watch my playlist of my political evolution and as you move from one video to another you will see the logic that moved me from your point of view to my current point of view. I believed in the power of the free market and was a Ron Paul libertarian. I now consider myself a social libertarian. The change was difficult much like deconversion, but you can see change and why
@anubis2814 I'm sorry I've been out of state for the past month with limited internet access. I will try to take your suggestion and watch your videos detailing your political evolution. Giving up religion was a long and tough process for me as well, but I seriously doubt any amount of effort will cause me to give up my "faith" in capitalism. Regardless, I won't unsubscribe, your video just got me fired up.
@NoxiousOdor It's people like you that led to the ideals of socialism in the first place. I guess it never occurred to you that slavery is a BAD THING.
I know exactly the clip you are talking about. He says something like 3 jobs, that's something strictly American or something to that effect. He was acting like it was a good thing.
Bush's line jumped out at me, too. But I think he said, "well, isn't that uniquely American" ..Good video. I recall Robert Mendelsohn (pediatrician) calling daycare for small children.."the biggest health crisis since the middle-ages" because he said studies showed it raised the children's average cortisol levels 3x...but that is the world we are in.
I like this video. Its very concise. I have a slight difference of opinion on welfare. Parents that are on long term should have less financial freedom and their children should have maximum support by the state to prevent them getting in the same cycle.
@Ekendil In the McCarthy era in the 50's, USSR and PRC began attempting to spread communism to other regions that we had economic interests in. Therefore we had to make them the enemy. Sen. Joe McCarthy set up witch-hunt style tribunals for anyone having any ties to Communism. So we now have a Pavlovian reaction to the worlds socialism and communism. They see it as stealing from hard working people and giving it to lazy people, when that is rarely the case.
@Ekendil Just be aware that communism and socialism is completely different. There is limited personal and zero political and financial freedom in a communist system. Although there are many good things about socialism when you take to too far to the left it becomes communism in a democratic disguise.
That was awesome...thanks for the vid! I see why theElmoIsEvil sent it to me, I will definitely feature this one when I reconfigure my channel. Always a pleasure to see more people taking the time to help educate the population. = D ....Sub'd from one vid... you're good, I'm picky.
@HeadoftheHydra I mispoke, overtime kicks in after 30 hours in some scandinavian nations like sweden, netherlands and denmark, if I'm not mistaken, otherwise, its 35 hours. Plus there is government care to ensure you don't have to stress out about medical expenses. Still way better than 40 hours a week working 2 jobs just to get by.
@JayPhilosopher I have 2 vids left on this subject, I have one that is a practical video for the libertarian minded and one on election reform which is the only way another party could win in this monopolistic system
You did an epic video again dear anubis, a real treat for my ears and mind. Things were said in this video many, too many people tend to be ignorant of, or purposefully malicious with. Thanks!
"many countries have restricted the workweek by law to 30 hours max"
This statement is incorrect!
A normal workweek in Europe is around 35-40 hours (full time, France being the most generous). After this, you have the right to work overtime for x amount of hours per month and y amount of hours per year, depending on your contract. So the employer cannot demand more than 35-40 hours by law. In Europe many people are stressed out as well, because they feel they have to work overtime...
I'm probably gonna get shit for this but I'll throw it out anyway:
I think there is a culture difference between US and Europe. I have seen people in US in my last job job work 12 hours a day, but most of the time seems to go to chatting with colleagues, instead of actually getting to work. They don't mind time passing, because they don't feel that they have to go home after 8 hours to spend with family. Of course this doesn't apply to everyone, but still... No I don't have statistics to back it
@LJonathan No you are completely correct, I misspoke on the issue of 30 hours max, overtime is used in a lot of countries sooner than in the US, I think however that Scandinavian countries are even lower. Humans are social creatures and need social interaction and relaxation If they don'[t have the time to do it in their spare time they will do it on the clock wasting a lot of time and resources of the company. I have worked at several companies where this occurs.
@anubis2814 I agree and I don't blame them for relaxing more on clock.
I actually think 30 hours a week SHOULD be max, beacuse it is usually after 6 hours of intense work that you become unproductive in my experience. If people want 3 jobs anyway it should be up to them.
I have to agree with "Cortisol.....keeps the poor man poor and rich man discontented". I believe that exercise aside the best way to have a low stress level is to have a job you love, not feel the need to consume, and or have a hobby you love. The happiest people I know are surfers. They need nothing but a board and a good wave. Some of the unhappiest are the millionaire clients I have who stress over mostly irrelevant things like where they should fill up their car so they can save 2 cents.
@unassumption They do, but none of them have nearly as much as we do and are still freaking stressed out about it. We should be moving forward as a country to be healthier and happier.
If I heard you correctly, you said normally you need exercise to flush out cortisol, but are there any drugs currently available or in development that either flush out your cortisol or inhibits further production?
@sciencemile There actually are, do a search for cushing's syndrome, though I don't know the side effects if you don't have the disease. Ginko, vitamin C and a few of supplements have had some evidence to reduce cortisol levels, though it was an internet search and not the original studies done so be skeptical.
@anubis2814 Thanks; I'm definitely trying the natural ways like exercise don't get me wrong, but you reach a certain point where the drive you need to solve weight problems is being eaten away by the very problem you're trying to solve by exercising in the first place.
Like trying to put out an electric fire with water or something.
