@aznbreakerboi51o You know, Boxing gloves are less to protect your hands, and more to protect your opponent. So it makes sense, in a street fight, you want to beat down your opponent... which you're not doing as much when you have gloves on.
@meirus That's true, but if you fight based on your fighting style, you pretty much want to fight to whatever your rules actually are. For example, Cody throws rocks and uses pipes and knives. However, he keeps his cuffs on. May be cheap for a real fight but its his style from prison. Eagle used sticks. Haomaru used katanas. Etc.
@aznbreakerboi51o It doesn't change the fact that someone would wonder why someone would do something like that. For example, Cody only fights like that because he's bored. Dudley fights with his gloves, not just because he's a boxer, but because he prefers a gentlemanly fight. However in reality the gloves would need to come off if someone really wanted to do damage. The point is that the answer isn't "because he's a boxer".
@aznbreakerboi51o It's just that it's a matter of it fitting their character. It doesn't have anything to do with it being their style, that's all. I'm sure it mentions in rog's story somewhere that he's treating this like a boxing match of some sort.
@meirus I'm sure its a little of both actually. I feel one's character has a lot to do with their fighting style. Yun and Yang are a great example, where Yun's personality "outgoing and impulsive" and Yang's personality is "quiet and calm". I'm sure you can figure the rest easily as to how that ties in with their fighting style.
lol i kno but if you think realistically a boxer's punch is enough to kill a man in one shot...even tho it is a video game perhaps the developer's realize that and put it in iono...
He senses that if he fought with both arms he'd be about equal in strength to Shin Gouki. He and Gouki had a very careful fight that was broken up before a winner could be decided.
@moonlitearthx14 Canonically, Oro is the most powerful fighter in the SF universe. Even with one arm tied behind his back he was more than a match for Gouki. That fight was undecided because Oro actually left the fight, after getting bored. Oro is the last of the Sennin, a clan of people from Japan who master a secret martial art called Senjutsu and with both arms out, he is more powerful than half of the SF cast rolled into one. Even Shin Gouki would be no match for Oro with both arms.

@keikun332 They dominate because Yun has the most powerful and fastest building super and chun has god tier priority with regular moves. Many of chun's special and EX moves are completely useless. And yet, she dominates solely because of bad programming (unless you agree back and fierce punch should have as much priority as a dragon punch :P).
Point is, regular fireballs in the game are pretty bad to an almost unusable capacity that I don't think even the programmers had in mind.

Actually in the SF universe he's the strongest character. Not to mention that he's the main character, and capcoms favorite character, so im pretty sure they didn't make him suck. It's just you that sucks, isn't it... The faster you admit to it the faster we can ignore your stupid comments.
Ryu isnt the strongest fighter in any street fighter game. The only exception to that is street fighter 4 where he is considered to be one of the best.
This assumes that you are talking about playing the game and not about the anime/movies/story/books or something else.

@meirus What? Then what about Balrog? Dude uses gloves but not because he's a gentleman. Then again, Mike from SF1 didn't use gloves at all.
I'm sure there's a definite answer as to why they wear it, but I'm not quite able to put the words together. I'll let you know if I do.

@IAmKingHomey Unfortunately, there's no living clips of that. It's just the canonical storyline that I've read. I'd love to watch it too though.

How does throwing work in third strike?
jeezulz 2 years ago
You throw by pressing light punch (jab) and light kick (short) at the same time. Its good for opponents who are trying to parry/block your attacks

Ryu isnt top tier in any SF game with SFIV as the only exception. Ryu doesnt suck but hes not the strongest either.

The strongest character introduced? Gouki, or Oro, or Gouken, if he's alive. Maybe Bison/Vega too.
