  • no sabia que en el shito ryu, el grito del kiai era voluntario...

  • As a certified judge from Hayashi ha Shito Ryu. Kiai is mandatory or points will be deducted. Timing, coordination, balance, are all taken into the points awarded.

Also proper respect when entering the ring, clear announcement of your Name, style, Name of Kata,Without turning your back to the judges is a must and will also have points deducted.

  • kiai DISABLED

  • no me gusta esta ejecucion es mejor shotokan

  • 素晴らしい仕事

  • muito bom mas ainda prefiro o bassai dai

  • now i know what the original one looked like.

    thanks(shotokan)

  • @patrickdarcy Misinformation is rampant in you tube. "original" no way. In order to trace any kata to the "original" you have to go back to the primary Okinawa Te systems that predate all Japanese styles including Shito Ryu. This is a variation, like all other Japanese style katas. Look up Master Higa of the Kyudokan system, that one is the oldest version I have seen to date, but still cannot say it's the original because the original was done centuries ago and video recording did not exist.

  • VIVE LE SHITO RYU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OSS

  • shotokan has strongest moves

  • @BOLCHEVIQUELENNIN Shotokan is a great style but that is one of the negative aspects of Shotokan, the lack of the original circular movements and the lack of hard and soft combination. A style that is totally linear and based almost exclusively on power is incomplete. Okinawan styles are the most well rounded styles because they combine the best of both, circular and soft (chinese like), and hard and linear.

  • This is an extraordinarily ignorant thing to say. With the simplification of shotokan syllabus in the early 20th century, it is in kata where one finds the real self-defense instruction remaining from the 19th century. Those moves that look stupid and weak? The are the ones that contain the most dangerous application. You are a stupid fool who is all kumited up, who knows nothing but tournament sparring and wishes your penis was bigger.

  • hahaha that last statement made my day! yea ignorant people are irritating tho, I feel you on that.

  • Hm... Hayashi Ha variation of this kata has many differences...

  • wow that is not true at all. You need to learn a little bit more about karate, kata and combat.

  • Perhaps you should think about advancing your knowledge base so that you can make some sort of meaningful comment rather than discussing someones' ass - that was a clever statement however(if you happen to be a 4yr old with bad manners).

  • Congratulations! That has to be one of the most ignorant statements I've ever read.

  • Buen tiempo, buen estilo, muy buen ritmo. Es una presentación digna de ser imitada.

  • You learnd nothing about discipline and about the real meaning behind each mouvment and the art itself.

  • It is abvios that you do knowt know anything about Karate. You do not apraciete this style because you do not apraciete yourself. Shito-Ryu has Kata, Kumite, Ko-Budo Bo-Jutsu and Bunkai, just like Shotokan. Before start posting comments look how clean this guy is performing. Good stances and power, it has concentration and intention, it transmits something when he is performing. He has learnd through Karate discipline, morality, self control and respect for himself and the others.

  • Bo-jutsu is part of Ko-budo. There is no Shitoryu Bojutsu, only Shitoryu Kobudo, which draws it's bo, sai, tonfa, and nunchaku from many sources.

  • If that is your opinion, you are no karateka.

    I salute you sir.

I do wadu-ryu myself, and in no way think of our style as being superior to anything. Each style has it's good and weak spots. Deal with it...

  • i take wado-ryu as well. but all styles are beautiful in their own sense. you are right - there are weak and strong points. i agree.

  • Shito Ryu is the most clean, useful and beautiful style ;)

  • shito ryuuu shoko satooo

    ARGENTINAAA!!!!

  • this guys fast and good!

  • anyone know if there's videos of Seito Shito Ryu the one thats carried on by Soke Kenzo Mabuni?

  • strange..i take motobu ha shito ryu and this looks slightly different from jion as i know it..despite that it is a good preformance.

  • Stylistic differences, even between school of Motobu ha Shitoryu. It's really all in how the teacher learns it and passes it on.

  • By the way this guy is a machine and thannks for posting him. I learnt matzukazai off him and he was perfect

  • Ive been doing karate for ten years now and you only kiai were you feel it is appropriate in shito Ryu

  • In Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo there are no Kiai. Power is generated by retaining the breath in the tanden and releasing it after the compleation of the technique or combination. Very powerfull!!

  • so glad you're posting shito ryu kata. very interesting to see the difference between them and the JKA versions. would be great to learn the applications you guys practice!

  • everett washington, why?

  • Hey, did you study under Sensei Ferguson? I'm from JKF (with Sensei Yoshida) down in the Portland area. If you are from that school, I am very sorry to hear about Sensei Ferguson passing away.

  • focus... brilliant

kia is inward (and you can feel it) - if it was external it would spoil the harmony ? this is truly exceptional kata.

  • Interesting interpretation. No kiai?

  • In shito Ryu kiai is voluntary

  • Im always told to kai

  • not at my dojo

  • @orbelus well i do shitoryu and kiai isn't voluntary u must say in the kata and this jion kata is wrong cuz my sensei actually got his dan belts from the creator of the style so i think the way he learned it must be correct if he got it from the creator of the style

  • @ihbo7 how old is your sensei?

  • @ihbo7@ihbo7 Mabuni sensei, creator of Shito Ryu, died in 1952. He never taught outside Japan, which means your teacher would have to be an American military man in Osaka between 1947 (when Mabuni sensei resumed teaching) and 1951 and would be at least 20, meaning he is at least 80 now. In addition you suggest all his ranking was from the creator, which means his last promotion was 1952. Maybe he is not telling you the truth. BTW neither wado nor shito require any fixed audible kiai.

  • @Deflin oh, you forgot to turn up the volume.
