  • ist doch nur werbung

  • you forgot, Honolulu Baby, beggining of one of their Talkie shorts, don't remember which one

  • This was a great labor of love on your part and I enjoyed every second of it. The information is fascinating, too! Thank you!

  • Chris do you happen to have that tinkling piano music when the Chimp is dancing in the bedroom in front of L&H? Could u post it please?

  • Where's Atoll K

  • @AlexMarsden13 this is only 1927 - 1940 so the FOX and MGM and atoll arent here

  • ... o.k. ... whats wrong with you ... we all still love the Kukuck of the Schwarzwald Clock until today ... and now?

  • I notice a title card for The Rogue Song is missing, but that's okay since no known print of the film exists today. It was Laurel and Hardy's first feature in which they co-starred in 1930.

  • 3:25- Now you know I can't take a bath today with this foot, and besides, it isn't Saturday.

  • Hi, Chris--this is a very nice compilation of titles, and thanks muchly for calling my book a "masterwork"! I'm working on the third edition now, and it'll likely be quite a bit bigger than the previous two. All the best--Randy Skretvedt

  • Wow, we have a true celebrity in our midst! Thanks for the info about the 3rd edition, I'm really looking forward to it. I wasn't actually aware of your book originally until you made an appearance on KTLA. But yeah, your book is the first and best comedy film book I ever made my dad buy for me and I have constantly been reading it ever since. In your introduction you mention L&H buffs watching the films over and over even though we know all the gags and I feel much the same about your book.

  • What is the title of the tune @2.45 ?

  • "On to the Show," also by Marvin Hatley. You can't start a L&H short better than the one-two punch of "Dance of the Cuckoos" followed immediately by "On to the Show." I'm sure it's obvious from Ollie's hilarious groans that I used the soundtrack from "Them Thar Hills" for this portion.

  • Thanks for the info, I agree Cuckoos + on to the show = an episode of fine entertainment and hilarity!

    Cheers,

    Neil

  • According to the Laurel and Hardy Central website, it was actually LeRoy Shield who composed "On to the Show." D'oh!

    Ollie: Waterloo 2-2.

    Stan: Two-two?

    Ollie (indignant): 2-2.

    Stan (effeminate): Toot-toot!

    Ollie (mimicking): Toot-toot! (disgusted)

  • Im after an Mp3 of this, i can't find anything on the net. You wouldnt have it by any chance?

    Thanks,

    Neil

  • I definitely recommend buying a CD from The Beau Hunks, who recreated all the Hal Roach stock themes from the early 30's by Shield and Hatley. A search for Beau Hunks on Amazon should yield multiple CD's with this song. Enjoy!

  • Neil73:

All of Leroy Shield's Roach cues are available for download at amazon, as complete albums, or a la carte.

  • OUTSTANDING WORK,Chris!!!

This was truly a labor of love and it shows! I have yet to see original title cards for the following L&H short subjects:

    Hog Wild

    One Good Turn

    The Chimp

    Their First Mistake

Many thanks for this BRILLIANT achievement!

    Tit For Tat,

    Max

  • Thanks for the kind comments! I put most of these together about 10 years ago but it wasn't until recently that I edited them into a nice tight YouTube package (this explains a few of the titles with bad VCR tracking lines).

Check out the Laurel and Hardy Forum for what The Chimp's original title card looks like from the European Kinowelt DVD set. Most amazing thing about the whole film IMO. I share your agony as far as HW, OGT and TFM are concerned.
