I also think it just took him time to figure out what style of metal he wanted to do. some musicians change for the worse. surprisingly he just changed his style to a bit heavier. He seems to not write as technical. but when they play live he still has to skill to play his older solos.

jazz playing isn't all about improvising, there are plenty of thought out jazz pieces. even in improv it is still similar to classical in the ways i mentioned. i never said he had jazz influence, i wasn't arguing with that. you just said that jazz and classical were total opposites which isn't true at all. classical and pop are polar opposites in every way possible.

i never said classical had any improvising, but it actually does. neoclassical guitar playing is FULL of improvising. old classical isn't though. in jazz, there are pieces written that you have to play correctly. there was coltrane song and in the credits it said it was written by somebody else. if it's written by somebody else and you're playing it then it's an already composed piece of music and involves little to no improv.
