im thinking of buying a freeview box but never got round to doing it. What if some tv ariels only have a wide plug and cant fit into the set top box?

What if it is a hd box , could you still use the Ariel cable. Or do u have to use the cable from a dish ?

@TheyCallMeShomHD First check on the Freeview website coverage checker to see if you have full coverage. Then try borrowing a portable aerial (preferably with an amplifier) and see if that helps. Ideally you need a direct cable to the roof aerial. Once switchover has happened in your area the signal should be stronger and a portable aerial should do the job.

Try checking your predicted coverage on the Freeview website. You need a strong enough signal - you may need to get a booster for your aerial.
