  • we all should open up our eyes

  • Sounds familiar haha!

  • When I was 18 I also thought I knew everything. ~rolls eyes~

  • Ofcourse not. Just enjoy this fantastic vid!

All the fuss, about alanis morisette for heavens sake, too funnie!

  • does I really have to read all this drama while such a good song is on honestly

  • can even touch the beatles version

  • Alanis morisette sucks ass - whoever says differnet is a muppet. That goes for Foo Fighters too. How old are you two children, squabbling over who likes the most awful artist? Spiritualized, Spacemen 3, M Ward, My Bloody Valentine, Velvet Underground - listen to some music that will last the test of time.

  • Always thought this was just as great as the original.

  • I am a huge fan of Siouxsie & The Banshees, but Its not because of their musical talents. Its is their style! I don't believe they are in anyway in the same league as some great bands like U2, Foo Fighters or The Smiths. They are definitely a lot better than some of the more recent pop bands and singers. I feel writing your own music and songs makes you a musician. I love to Karaoke, but that doesn't make me a great musician. Some band are great musicians, some are great entertainers.

  • wow!! why is all this coming up here? just sit back and enjoy the music. Does it matter? people have the right to their own opinion. Chill!!

  • Which songs did Siouxshie (& the Banshees) cover? I know Helter Skelter, Dear Prudence, The Passenger, This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us. Other?

  • the point of a "cover" is not to improve on

the original version but to tip ones hat, so to speak, to the band, the childhood, the memory of hearing it so long ago ......

  • siousxie really cute.. aww! i love her

  • the reson Robert Smiths appear in this video is that he was a bandmember of The Banshees

  • Right. And of course also The Glove with Steven Severin from the Banshees.

  • i like this version, but alanis morissettes version is better.

  • alanis morissette sucks her voice is awful.

  • its easy to hate the talented, quite hating, obviously she is doing something right if she has sold more than 30millions albums,i dont see siouxsie doing that.alanis's voice is like an angel, you need to get your ears checked.have a nice day and dont reply back to this comment,i dont have any more tiime to waste on the ignorant.

  • pussycat dolls have sold more than that does that make them just as good as alanis you retard,my ears are fine and thats why i can hear alanis has an awful voice and you cant, you sound like those dylan fans who cant hear that dylan has a bad voice too.

  • the pussy cat dools have not sold more than that, and i never said it was impossible to sell that many albums, and i was onlt talking about siouxsie why your bringing other artist to this conversation is beyond me.alanis is a singer, siouxsie is not,and who the hell is dylan?and dont reply back to my damn comments!!!!

  • siouxsie is a singer you idiot and has a much better voice than alanis, bob dylan you are just showing how ignorant you are,the pussy cat dolls have sold more than that you fool they suck just like alanis.

  • i know who bob dylan is, siouxsie just talks all of her words, alanis actually sings her songs, the pussy cat dolls only sold about 7million.alanis rules!!! clearly you no nothiung about good music, besides siouxsie.stop replying to my damn comments!!!!

  • i am an expert on music thats why i know about albums like forever changes which is considered one of the best of all time i doubt you know it,i also like the beatles and the kinks and they have 5 star albums and alanis doesnt even come close to matching their talent her voice is so bad its not funny,if dylan can sell millions with his bad voice im sure alanis can too same with people like britney who also has an awful voice.

  • first of all brittney is not even in the same league as alanis, the album changes by Love was a good album i dont need anybody telling me that,i also like the beatles and the kinks too, so whats your point,i listen to sneaker pimps which is an awesome band. you probably wouldnt know them.and alanis has had five star albums as well, and the difference between alanis and mr bob dylan is that alanis can actually sing.

  • oh yeah, screw you harry potter is flippin awesome.

  • you have ears I assume

  • yes i have ears, i like the alanis version better, wow ok its all a matter of opinion, its not that big a deal. i still like siouxsie and the banshees

  • @charmed1ify no one gives a shit what u prefer , go post your love of that fat canadian bitch somewhere else

  • oh thats right, i forgot that i put my comments up to see if anybody cared... and its obvious you cared enough to reply to my comments you loser.

  • umm dear, YOU CAME BACK to see if anyone replied to your stupid comment. I believe youre the loser.

  • actually, i came to watch videos, and come to find that some stupid canadian replied to my comment. if you or anybody else dont like my comment, spam them or give a thumbs down. please dont waste your ignorance on me.

  • HAHAHAAHHA LOVE THE YOUTUBE FIGHTS

  • Hell yea!! HAHa!!!

  • quite right you tell them.

  • The funniest thing about this clip is to see Robert Smith (from The Cure, to those who may don't know) making part of it as if he wasn't one of graetest band leaders of recent music history.

    Long live S&TB!

  • este video me hace poner los pelos de punta!!

    salud

  • Both versions are equally as good I think. The Beatles did it in a Beatles way, Siouxsie did it in a Siouxsie way. Both good.

  • This isn't bad...but whoever said this is better than the original is NUTS.

  • better than the original :P

  • commented before this is by far the best

  • Did Madonna copy this setting and style for her "Like a Virgin" video one year later?

  • You're not the ONLY person in the world, just like I hope I'm not he ONLY person in the world who doesn't like The Script.

  • Big beatles fan,I like this version also.

  • Prudence was actually Mia Farrow's sister. She was with her sister Mia when they were all together in India, trying to find themselves with the Maharishi.

  • He certainly does. he helped bale Siouxsie out when she was abandoned.

  • not abandoned! Her guitarist DIED! Robert filled in for a tour or two.

  • one thing i would like to know is

if Robert Smith makes an appearance

in this video? I thought i saw him

    briefly in it several times.

  • i would also like to know which videos robert appeared in. i have a friend who ONLY likes the cure, and has never heard siouxsie. i would like to change that, and he is interested to see what roberts guitar playing style was like. i had to inform him of the sex pistols/cure/siousxie interrelations.

  • The beatles arent the problem they were brilliant musicians who have been ruined by all the flakes throughout the years

  • I love both versions, but this is brilliant!

There are few songs more nostalgic an ethereal than this one.

  • Brilliant version. Simple, great arpeggios.

  • i respectfully disagree. the original is clearly the superior version for obvious reasons. but this captures the spirit and melancholy nature of the original.

  • Ill agree with that.

  • Wow!

    What a great song!

  • they probably hate you too.

  • Im sure they do, those sell outs! ha ha

But what do hippies have to do with Siouxsie? They where over ten years and a couple of generations apart!

Geez I cant believe you peeps vote a negative on my comment, when its a compliment of Siouxsie on a Siouxsie VIDEO!!

  • they were sold out be micheal Jackson! No one ever like siouxsie enough to sell them out. Why dont they write their own classics??

  • Ah I think they have.... Christine, and Hong Kong Garden to name only 2, I think are classic songs. Am I wrong?

  • Never heard Spellbound, Christine, Hong Kong Garden, Cities in Dust, etc, etc...

  • That was the only Beatles cover they did

  • they did helter skelter as well

  • hippies shall inherit the earth

  • God, I remember this cover from my teenage years, those were the days.......

  • Agreed, one of the only Beatle cover songs that was done justice.

  • This is very arguably better than the original version (letters to the usual address).

  • I am sorry but not agree! the original is the best.

  • i agree, this does not come close to the beatles version. The beatles version is beautiful.. They turned it into a cheesy pop song..

  • Yeah I'm really glad someone finally fixed this Beatles song. Who knew all it was missing was 80s synths?

  • Lol there's a npc in wow named "Siouxsie the Banshee". Sorry for nerding it up but I thought that was funny.

  • I have listened to this song since I was 15 now I am 36 and I still love it

  • It took me like 20 min. to get it, but the first 3 sec. of this video plays the ending of Pat Benatar's Sex as a Weapon!

  • wow, I am pleasantly surprised, rarely does anyone do the beatles without fucking it up but they pulled it off quite nicely I knew I liked them :)

  • They cant distort the the lettehougrs ehough to stop my comment ..Brilliant ! ( o :

  • fucking love their version and this song and video

  • Great great cover!! And lol @ 2:58 , they're italian "carabinieri" :D

  • Great version!

If only every cover would really add something new to songs.....

This is better then people who just copy a song and don't bring anything personal to it.

  • Wow The Beatles are shit?? Then I Mozart & Beethoven are shit too! Greatest band that will ever walk the earth they are gods.

Having said that I also love 80's and think this version is very good, has a cool psychedelic vibe that as someone said is the way The Beatles would have recorded it in 1967. Of course not as good as The Beatles pastoral original which is a work of pure genius but still one of the better covers.

  • it nice to hear another version of the song, its not "shit", but i think the hold meaning of the song is lost in the version.

buts it very refreshing to hear another version of this song:)

  • nerd

  • why can't both versions be awesome!? you all have to remember that singing is an art form. siouxsies interpretation is just that-an interpretation of the beatles version. her homage to the beatles. i'm a beatles fan too but for gods sake lighten up a bit!

  • Right On!!!

  • 02madre - Exactly! "why can't both versions be awesome!?" - (and they both are!!) it is her homage to the Beatles! - some people don't like the 'concept' of cover songs - I always like to hear different interpretations of great songs when they are good! - in fact, there are some bands - NOT applicable here! Siouxsie writes great songs! - - that suck & can't write good songs and should do only 'cover' songs - or better yet, don't record anything!

  • Wonderful song--thanks for posting.

  • I've noticed that most people that use the word "shite" have shite for brains. How many records have you sold?

  • well that means you do to dumb ass, its his opinion, just give him a thumbs down dont insult him back, he wasnt even talking to you.

  • What do I do to dumb ass?"

  • wow you just proved how stupid you really are dumbass, that last one made no sense at all.

  • Perhaps what you MEANT to say was: "well that means you do TOO, dumb ass". Being called a dumb ass by some poor schmuck who doesn't know the difference between 'to & too"; really makes me chuckle.

  • Brilliant Tyler. I guess I've been schooled! Your turn, "gorilla" has 2 l's. After all these years Tyler, you're still a snot nosed little brat who never learned to spell or punctuate. Enjoy flipping burgers the rest of your life.

  • Haha nah I think you just schooled him!=]

    Nice one!

  • Sorry this is not better than the original beatles, saying that it's not bad. Good attempt but not quite there, nice try siouxie.

  • i guess we like it as much because we love siouxie and the banshees! >:)

  • It may sound like blashphemy but this is better than the fab four's original. In my opinion anyway after hearing this version 1st in 1983!

  • Both songs are beautiful but who cannot like her version.

  • better than the beatles version!

  • amazing!!!!!!

  • I am a massive beatles fan but this is even better than the beatles version. Just wonderful

  • Is that Robert Smith at 0:16-0:17 in the middle, all dressed in black with shades?I think so,but....

  • yes it is

  • Yes he was a banshee for the nocturne album

  • my fav Siouxsie song !! and Robert Smith in the background !!!!!!! Two greats - one song...

  • Two spot-on comments.

  • Thanks. I had to come back and find out what it was I wrote two years ago! -Which reacquainted me this great version I hadn't heard in ages, of a fine Beatles song. Personally, I think it surpasses the original - blasphemy to some hard core Beatles fans, I know!

  • Good cover of a great song.

Does anyone know, is this a John song or a Paul song, or one of their perfect collaborations? It's hard to tell, George may have been in the mix. Again - great song.

  • All i do know is it was written for Mia Farrows sister who must have been astonishingly beautifull...The Beatles were in India at the time visiting somekind of guru

  • john lennon must be turning in his grave by people saying this is better than his!!not a chance

  • i love her

    is perfect!

  • shes' s goddess

  • my brother and i have been a fan of her from the 1980,s she great,

  • Buen video, a los fans mi mail is jraulbuelna@hotmail com vivo en Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico

  • One of the greatest covers ever! With all respect to the Beatles, in my opinion, even better than the original

  • gotta agree dude even though im an old man...

  • that makes 2 of us!!! Been loving her for over 20 years now....and this cover is better than the original!!!! And I'm not even a fan of covers....( not counting The Sisters Of Merrcy ofcourse)

  • good cover :)

  • Sioux was the first to get a washing machine and none of the Bromley lot wanted to be seen to use it..they said she was showing off. It is in John Lydons book No Irish No Blacks No Dogs.30 plus years on Siouxsie seems to have kept her dignity intact unlike Mr Lydon..Butter , I'm a celebrity, sharks etc.

  • i think the contrary about siouxsie and the banana sheees. sorry dude. this version is boring. i prefer the beatles original recording.

  • I no. I hate John 4 that.

  • Siouxsie's hot

  • I love this song soo much, it's an amazing cover song!! Even at, what 50? 60? years old, she can still sing and do concerts like she did back then!!! love them!

  • i like this version better then the beatles ....

  • Yeah me too! The Banshees do amazing covers!

  • Hey!...What the hell...Never say or think anything similar again. ;)

  • ....i agree.. happy new year everyone.....

  • good cover and I think EVERYONE should respect eachother regardless of sex, race, religion, and other such "issues" so can we stop with the hate :)

  • be bound by their beauty, be bound by their grace, for they promulgate this race.

  • I love this version better than the Beatles.

  • extremadamente chingon , me transporto al paraiso, super chingon

  • Ahhhh Siouxsie <3 The only person who can actually make a Beatles song not sound like crap.

  • They did an *excellent* job on this song, but another really good Beatles cover is Spooky Tooth's version of I am the Walrus.

  • man people give the beatles props, this is just a copy, anyone can take a song and add effects to it , the beatles wrote the fucking song

  • this cover is way better than the original, but hey, im a new wave/post punk fan. their techniques does add more dept to the song <3 gogo Siouxsei+Banshees<3

  • I wish it was at the same tempo as the beatles' recording.

  • i love siouxsie but i would not say its better than the original...

  • this is no where near better than the original. plus i think Type o negative did a better cover.

  • hahaha Robert Smith from The Cure!!! Were they're lovers?

  • O_O'...um......it's um...ok but i like the across the universe version better

  • All hail the Gothic Queen!

    Hail Siouxsie!!

  • Shes gorgeous...

  • i like the hair style and the make up.

    young girls take note

    ;)

  • And wouldn't exist without the original

  • This is SUCH a bloody good song, aye. (Y)

  • what has happened to england they use to put out such good music they give david beckman

  • Wow,I haven't seen this in years!! It was great then and still great now!!

  • She really made this her own

Theres such a powerful vein of supernatural, dreamy energy running through this song...

  • Any woman who shaves is a slave of man.

  • Spoken like a true carpet munch.

  • ....you sexist little cunt

  • I liked this song when The Beatles did it.

  • Yeah. You are right.

    Anyway they were first :))

  • Love love this song :D

  • She will always be a class act in my book

  • & IN MINE TOO!

  • This is a great Beatles cover.

  • LOVE Siouxsie Sue!!!! Thanks for finding the song!!!

  • everything..but? where is the razor for her armpits? she is hot the song is great but hairy armpits. the end is near

  • So what? That's her style.... ...so many women are pressurized into looking like Barbie dolls these days. Siouxsie I think was happy being her - and that's the best turn-on of all in my opinion...

  • I agree with you EuroAlien, its Siouxsie's body if she is happy then its her decision. Though I don't see why her Armpits should be important when she is singing so beautifully.

  • "so many women are pressurized into looking like Barbie dolls these days."

I'm pretty sure there's a vast middle ground between being a "Barbie doll" and not shaving your armpits.

  • I actually fucked her in 1976. fact.

  • that´s a tasteless comment

  • Watch out - that's how Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross got into so much trouble...

If it's true of course (and if so, I envy you - although I agree it does sound a bit tasteless said like that...)

  • Wow, I'm jealous. I'm a chick and I'm jealous. Although from what I've heard she banged half of the UK. Well done though.
