Ya missed the key point. There's no problem in hoping the government runs smooth and ends with positive results for the US. The fourth estate is useless if it becomes a cheerleader for the executive branch. IT AINT HIS JOB TO MAKE SURE ANYBODY IN WASH DC IS SUCCESSFUL. And for those of you who are making comments about Fox....the national media organization has done polls and found fox to be split 50/50 on negativity and stories throughout this campaign.

This is why MSNBC is failing and fox crushes them in ratings in EVERY time slot.

Okay. If the U.S. can have a right-wing television news network like FOX news, than why can't it have a left-wing news network. In the end it all balances out. People who watch FOX news are getting what they want to hear: Praise for the right. People who watch MSNBC get what they want to hear: Praise for the left. There is plenty of left wing news New York Times, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Washington Post, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Newsweek, Time, etc. The reason for talk radio and Fox News was a response to the Main Stream Media's liberal bias.

Yes, but it seems since late 2001 many of those news groups jumped on the Bush bandwagon and I can't completely blame them, and they've slowly clamored off as people lost faith in the Bush administration. And just as Fox News was a response to liberal bias, MSNBC is a response to the last 8 years.

A question that comes to mind is, did people lose faith in Bush's policies before the media, or did the media lose faith first? It's a chicken or egg problem.

I'm not aware of anyone at Fox saying anything close to what Matthews said. Maybe you can post a link where a major reporter @ Fox says his job is to make Pres. Bush look good or respectable...or that he gets a thrill up his leg when he gives a speech.

BTW. Matthews can say whatever he wants, he just can't do it and be considered a journalist, let alone a serious national journalist. Maybe he could call himself a 'President-Proper-Upper' or maybe a propagandist.

It isn't a journalist's job to make a president successful, but, I agree with Matthews that we shouldn't try to cripple a brand new administration right out of the gate with petty little things like this.
