No one said immigration was without controversy. I decided to pursue this story for two reasons. First, I don't think most people know about T. Don Hutto. Second, I want people talking about it. I think both goals were accomplished. And Rage is overrated ... for the record.
This is one of MANY that CCA/GEO group operate. They've had ongoing contracts with the Gov. for years and run like a third of it's deportation/detention facilities. Where have you been? Illegal aliens, Lock 'em up! In jails, tents whatever. Put 'em to work cleaning highways in chain gangs. They're in jail for breaking the law and if U.S. citizens who break the law have to do these things then so can these law breakers!
I am a hard working "Mexican American" and I thank you for that. My response was to send them back immediately, not to keep them imprisoned. There is a process and illegals need to get behind a long line of legal immigrants waiting to enter the US, including millions of people who have been waiting 5-10 years. If you don't know what's going on than maybe you should take off your rose colored glasses and do some research.
First you say that INS provides a supposed fast and easy way to get legal citizenship and then you say that they need to get on a 5-10 year waiting list...if you don't even have that straight, you probably shouldn't be arguing immigration policy. Second of all, entering the US illegally is a not a crime which warrants imprisonment and the treatment shown in this piece, especially for children, and if you don't believe that, read the lawsuits being filed against the detention center.
You also probably shouldn't be analyzing Rage Against the Machine lyrics if you believe that song is somehow warning illegal immigrants not to come to the US illegally. They're NOT paying taxes and the money they do earn is sent home to Mexico. You don't have to look at statistics, just visit the maternal ward at the L.A. county hospital. There, illegal immigrant women are having thousands of children per year free of charge and can't afford them once they give birth, and that doesn't stop them from having even more children. Most learn how to work the system so that they receive cash assistance and food stamps.
The more people that assimilate into the system the better IF it creates a larger tax base. But in California (for example) it hasn't. The evidence shows that the net results are that illegal immigrants cost the taxpayer significantly more than they pay in taxes... For the record.

It seems to me that you might be confusing "illegal aliens" with ordinary hard-working Mexican-American families whose "meager incomes" may not support their homes and so they turn to the government assistance to which they are entitled.
