The Best of The Best, Alison K and The Union Station. They set the standard! They are timeless! Very hard working at Getting it right before it goes out the Door.
Great Things to come from them .....I`m sure .I had some great time`s with their music in the air.
" ...Didnt want to look in the eyes of the one that I would be drawn to, I'm a moth lost in a fire...And I know this is beautiful illusion, a case of the confusion between love and desire..." Beautiful songwriting...
Yeah, that angelic voice that reaches into the furthest depths of your being and massages your soul into a state of absolute peaceful bliss - how irritating!!!!!
It's almost unreal how any one woman can just keep getting more and more gorgeous all the time. And her voice is like an angel she just totally blows me away. Alison Krauss is the greatest I love that girl!
I have never thought this about another woman before, but I am pretty sure I would abandon my life and family if Alison asked me. I dont think Im in an danger of that happening, but just in case, I dont go see her live. I cant be the only male to have fallen in love with her just from her voice and face right?
Alison Krauss and Union Station has crossed every segment of music except maybe for Rap......And I'll bet they could take any cRap song and own it.......Anytime..............That's how smart, creative, talented musically and musically thoughtful they are............
She is an amazingly beautiful artist, and I'm not just talking about her looks! Beautiful voice, amazing band, perfect song selection! What more can be said about her?
Alison isn't a traditional bluegrass singer. Not using the hard-driving voice, her voice is much more controlled. Perhaps her style is an improved bluegrass? Regardless, she is an excellent artist.
@peterwdeng Wrong!! She has evolved into what you hear today. She is and still can be as bluegrass as Lexington, Ky!! The early days are long gone for her but she is still as bluegrass and the paddock at Keenland! She found a lot of other paths along her way. Not unlike Vince Gill she had to branch out or be stuck behind that label forever. I am afraid that Rhonda Vincent will not make the leap beyond where she is now, but what the hell, she's doing great!
Alison has one of the nicest voices, and whatever she sings always comes out good, and is music to my ears and my heart. I wish I could have seen her in 1987 when she played at the Rogers Bluegrass festival when she played when Bill Monroe was there too. Thanks for the memories Alison. Long Time Farm-Aid Supporter, Mr.Weber-- New Waterford, Ohio.
I love this song and even more what the lyrics are saying. I am now obsessed and very happy I went to Chipotle and heard this on their satellite radio or whatever ha ha sounds so corny. Now onto her version of carolina on my mind...
When I watched her concert special on PBS or WETA or something w/ RP. When I heard this I knew it was her but was entranced by her voice and the sadness of this song that I typed the lyrics in my phone as a draft message and hurried back to work to google it, then I went on youtube to hear it and have repeated it like 5 times. I
Sooo yeah I first heard this sitting in a Chipotle during my lunch break and it was so good and was pulling at my heart that I had to know what it was called, thankfully because I am not an iddiot I have heard of Allison Krauss and Union Station back in 2005 and knew her voice, I loved what she did with Robert Plant and remember thinking who is this chick?

I absolutely love her voice and the Union Station. I am still puzzled by the fact that Alison isn't in the International Bluegrass Hall of Fame. I mean, she has done SO much for bluegrass music. Her success and accomplishments show that she belongs, without a doubt, in the hall of fame. Come on, how many more grammy awards does she need to win in order to have her considered?!
@Goralka08 No, they have to put money up front before they get in.........it's not an award it's bs..........Just like the RandR awards.....Why aren't the Moodys in there. It's all political bs and money.........Has nothing to do with talent or what you have done..........Assholes run these Halls of Fames BS
@Goralka08 She has won more Grammys than any female in history; that alone makes you wonder what they're thinking at the HOF. The good news is that she doesn't need nor run on awards. She is as genuine as they come in this business.

I've heard several people in interviews talk about singing with her. Not only did they say she was the nicest person, but they were all amazed at her having "perfect pitch." This woman is amazing! This song has such a deep personal meaning to me. It just rips my heart out...
I almost cried when I first heard the song years ago, it's so simple and illustrous! I don't usually to bluegrass, but her voice makes me want to listen to it more and it'd be great to collaborate with her--although my sound of music is entirely different.
It was a perfect combonation when it came to writer and singer! Mindy Smith wrote this song!!! She is another amazing artist who brings alot of emotion to her songs. If you like Alison I highly reccomend mindy!
Been an Alison fan for a while..and this is one of the most beautiful ones that she and the band have ever done....sure touches your heart and brings up memories and feelings that most of us can relate to...thanks for posting it.
Alison touches something inside me that no other artist ever done - it's like a part of me breakes and I want to cry, but with happieness... and still I want to hear more of her. Alison's voice i truly amazing. Her feel for the melody is extraordinary.
I love their re-defining style, progressive attitude when approaching the music they love so much. Allyson is one of our best. Jerry Douglas is the Jimi Hendrix of Bluegrass!
coming from a 24 year old...this song is one of the most beautiful things that a person could ever listen to. the album "lonley runs both ways" is all in all a masterful piece of art, but this song...wow. thank you allison and union staion. especially jerry douglas on the dobro, truly a heart wrenching chord.
Do NOT miss the chance to see Alison live. Since simply falling in love with that voice years back, I've had that privilege 4 times. Friends I dragged along were amazed, both at AKUS and Alison & Robert Plant.
"...And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. And there was no more reason for anything." - Stephanie Meyer from New Moon.
You know you've found a real artist when they can pull you over a decade back in time and make you relive the pleasure and pain of your first bad teenage crush. Bravo.
A friend sent me an email from Iraq just saying Alison Krauss & Union Station If I didn't know any better. When I googled it I found this. I wonder what he is trying to tell me.
Well the song is talking about falling for someone that you shouldn't and how she can't control that feeling. That person is always on her mind, and she can't get that person out. So maybe your friend is trying to tell you he likes you or maybe he just wanted to share a good song with you. Well it could be both. :)
i first heard allsion krauss in buffy second series, she touched me deep in my heart, amsing artist, truly blessed by god. she really does sing like an angel, i love her music, incrediable vocals. This is one of my favorite songs.
Alison Krauss is so awesome. If I wasn't married already and she wasn't (is she?) lol Anyway, a guy can dream..... Can't he? Wow! She is so great. What a great set of...vocal chords there. Great band. Great Singer. They rule!
Hey Hannes 2110 I have to agree 100% and not only in the States but the Globe. BTW anybody that has Albert Lee, Vince and Danny Gatton on their website is Aok with me. I know you know what yer talking about. From a kid in Canada.
I'm going to assume that you also like Jonny Hiland? If you're not familiar with him you would do well to youtube him. The new genius on the block. Mind-blowing. Albert and Danny would be proud.
o.k. boys, so i listened to Johnny Hiland and Greg Koch, And you´re right. There seems to be dozens of serious axemen in the states, that we never heard of here in Europe. But that´s the good thing of the Tube - here we can get to know them.
The angels in heaven take vocal lessons from Alison. I've also heard the rumor that Gabriel trashed his trumpet to take up the dobro with Jerry Douglas! :) Enjoy!
10! amazing. moving. artful. allison is beautiful. union station is amazing. the song is poignant and so well written. this girls music is like medicine for me. i cried when i listened to this song. they are in a genre that does not exist anywehere else.
She is so incredible and has such a beautiful voice. It's a shame that she's not as recognized as all the "amazing" pop singers today. She has a talent that most people couldn't even dream of ever having. I love her :-)
I would have to agree with you. Those other mainstream "amazing" pop star country singers voices sound so produced. When I compare this video to her live singing it sounds the same. It's a lot more natural and purer. Also you have to take into count that she actually plays THE FIDDLE!
I agree that this song did NOT get the attention it deserves. It's beautifully written and wonderfully performed. (It's also so true--haven't we all had that moment of realizing someone has "gotten to us" without our even realizing it?)
I love her, and this song. She has such a strong, but at the same time, a delicate voice. She is also really pretty. Her songs flow through my ears, and this song is really good. Oh, and nice picture and color. :-)
Possibly the most talented angel I have ever heard and I have heard many in my time. She can sing anything she decides to with such gifted skill-amazing doesn't even come close to a description. Thank you for bringing your music into the world to make it a better place.
The dobro is shaped like a triangle and is usually sat on the lag of the player. The steel guitar is shaped like a guitar, but with different innards to change the acoustics.
The dobro is shaped like a triangle and is usually sat on the lag of the player. The steel guitar is shaped like a guitar, but with different innards to change the acoustics.
That is indeed a dobro being played. Dobros (a.k.a. resophonic guitars) are shaped like guitars as you can see, but have a resonator cone and internal set up giving them an amplified acoustic and somewhat "metallic" sound. I believe you are referring to a lap steel in the first part of your comment. Some lap steel guitars are shaped like triangles, but there are a variety of shapes being manufactured and custom built by luthiers.

A friend sent me an email from Iraq just saying Alison Krauss & Union Station If I didn't know any better. When I googled it I found this. I wonder what he is trying to tell me.
intschutschuna001 3 years ago
Well the song is talking about falling for someone that you shouldn't and how she can't control that feeling. That person is always on her mind, and she can't get that person out. So maybe your friend is trying to tell you he likes you or maybe he just wanted to share a good song with you. Well it could be both. :)

"I love you... but I am not allowed too." Always fall for the one you can't have and shouldn't.

Hey Hannes 2110 I have to agree 100% and not only in the States but the Globe. BTW anybody that has Albert Lee, Vince and Danny Gatton on their website is Aok with me. I know you know what yer talking about. From a kid in Canada.
conmaesta1 3 years ago
I'm going to assume that you also like Jonny Hiland? If you're not familiar with him you would do well to youtube him. The new genius on the block. Mind-blowing. Albert and Danny would be proud.
TadRapidly 3 years ago
o.k. boys, so i listened to Johnny Hiland and Greg Koch, And you´re right. There seems to be dozens of serious axemen in the states, that we never heard of here in Europe. But that´s the good thing of the Tube - here we can get to know them.

An absolutely beautiflul song indeed!!!

The angels in heaven take vocal lessons from Alison. I've also heard the rumor that Gabriel trashed his trumpet to take up the dobro with Jerry Douglas! :) Enjoy!

She is so incredible and has such a beautiful voice. It's a shame that she's not as recognized as all the "amazing" pop singers today. She has a talent that most people couldn't even dream of ever having. I love her :-)
MishasGirl 3 years ago 4
I would have to agree with you. Those other mainstream "amazing" pop star country singers voices sound so produced. When I compare this video to her live singing it sounds the same. It's a lot more natural and purer. Also you have to take into count that she actually plays THE FIDDLE!
meekeleeke33 3 years ago 3
I agree that this song did NOT get the attention it deserves. It's beautifully written and wonderfully performed. (It's also so true--haven't we all had that moment of realizing someone has "gotten to us" without our even realizing it?)

I love her, and this song. She has such a strong, but at the same time, a delicate voice. She is also really pretty. Her songs flow through my ears, and this song is really good. Oh, and nice picture and color. :-)

She could sing the phone book and it would sound wonderful.
Allison is Truley Blessed as are we :)

Possibly the most talented angel I have ever heard and I have heard many in my time. She can sing anything she decides to with such gifted skill-amazing doesn't even come close to a description. Thank you for bringing your music into the world to make it a better place.

Republicans should help out and vote for HILLARY! Get that guy out of there, he is worse than Sanjaya (he just won't go away).

Well said allison45454. Ms. Krauss has a wonderful voice. Put with that steel guitar and it becomes chilling, yet somber.
takennedy84 4 years ago 2
What you hear in the background is not a steel guitar, but a dobro played by the brilliant Jerry Douglas!
dadaevan 3 years ago 3
