Even tho over the years we watch each of our idols age, (and bald) they're still special in our hearts. He still has the voice. I loved this band then and now.
I've been listening to this band for over 30 years...since they first came out...and I still have all the albums...the original albums I purchased when I was a teenager. To me...they are ALL talented and cannot be compared. It's like comparing apples and oranges...they're both fruit...but no way the same. I feel the same about all the singers in LRB. They all kept the band alive and for that I am forever grateful.
@JackieF100 Hey, Jackie. Me too. LIttle River Band music was tightly made with good lyrics and each song in an album had different twists, rhythms, and turns. Of course, Glenn had that great steady alto voice and his unique timing. I really couldn't understand why they canned him. Do you know why? I bought one more album and no more. Lamar (65)
Shorrock knows how to put on a good show. In June-July 2011 he did a tour of the pubs here in New Zealand with Jason Kerrison (of Kiwi band Opshop - and half Shorrock's age!) and ran through a number of LRB hits (this one got plenty of the crowd up the front dancing - he altered the arrangements on a few, referencing NZ locations into the lyrics), along with a few rock and roll covers. Incredibly energetic on stage-as soon as he was off stage he and Kerrison mixed in with the audience.
I was only 5 years old when this song came out. But I can remember my older brother's and Sister listening to this band and song. As I got older I also starting listening and I always loved this song and glenns voice. you are truly blessed when you sound the same in 2007 as you did in 1978. Wonderful voice I wish they still made music like this. :) Thank you Glenn.
John could not come close to Glenn Shorrock in this song. He sounded like a young kid in American Idol trying really, really hard to do as well as Glenn but failing -- A for motivation, though. Glenn always had the best voice. He was a controlled sensual singer. His voice was the one with the talent. It had the strength and the tone that made LRB what it was. No one could sing the song like he could and he still sings it well. It's Glenn's song. Kudos to Glenn who shows us -- age well.
John Farnhan can not hold a cande to Glenn in this song. I love LRB and miss the ORIGINAL voice...and...he still sounds just as good at this later date!! what I would like to know is what happened? why did Glen leave the band?
Forgot all about the LRB after Shorrock left in the 80's I had the First Under The Wire Album, also Sleeper Catcher , saw them Live London Ontario Gardens , during the the First Under The Wire tour, great concert. Now recently the new movie with Will Farrel , and MArk Walberg called The Other Guys, came out and there is a few funny scenes with LRB playing in the car , what great songs these guys wrote . Cool Chnage was voted one of the Top Australian Songs of All Time...
Thanks to the Glenn Sherrock and the Little River Band for not removing this video. I am showing my teenagers that this is history in music. They love it. Thank you, again.
I thought it was Don Rickles or a bald Pete Rose at first LOL! The dude still has the pipes though for this song. The LRB has given me so many great memories of my teens in late 70s. The back -up vocals on this kind'a suck though!
It's the unique, evocative voice of Glenn Shorrock that set LRB apart and made people fall in love with their music. Without him, they make nice music...with him, you feel every line, every note, right down to your toes.
I like covers of lots of songs, but for Cool Changes it HAS to be Glenn Shorrock or I don't listen. I don't care how old he is, he still beats John Farnham by a mile. A hundred miles...
Glenn and Wayne ARE the Little River Band lead vocalists in my opinion.
I only heard that other dude Farnham yesterday, I was not impressed. He way overdid the vocals on classic songs and ruined them. He sounded like he should have been in an '80's hair band, not LRB.
@danielskennedy Glenn refers to his current hairstyle as a 'reverse mohawk'... He certainly doesn't seem old when he's on stage, when I saw him in concert recently...
Sorry, but John Farrnham..... is the "Voice", shorrock is very good, but john farnham, is the best. since 1967 to 2009, look the bio of John.number one in . 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's etc. and this year, Live by Demand with john farnham.
It's a shame that they are compared at all. They are both very talented, but their voices and styles are so different. Shorrock has a blue-eyed soul raspiness that really touches you. Farnham, however, has a range that puts virtually all others to shame. His broadwayesque tenor can't be matched.
Sorry, but Farnham is a nobody outside Australia. Little River Band had international exposure and success. Glen is the original singer of the song, the original band member, and the song is better suited to his voice, not Farnham's - who tends to use all songs, including this one, to display his vocal power. Like Glen, Farnham has been caught many times reaching for notes he will never make. Singers all have to learn to find a song that suits. Noone can sing everything.
@TecomaCowboy Hi, Cowboy ~ Yes, that's the original guy. I loved all their music until they dumped him. I bought their next album, but it wasn't the same. The new guy was a much more commercial voice, as opposed to Glenn's "bar room" sound. I was so disappointed when he was let go. And now you don't hear about The Little River Band anymore do you? He was the band. Lamar (65)
@leppard55 I cant believe you have to ask. Glenn Shorrock is indeed the original. Not the AMerican imposter who took over when the band had legal issues.
I just love Glenn! He IS Little River Band. I have been a huge fan for over 30 years and had the honor of meeting him along with other "real" members. What a humble and amazing talented group! I was very blessed in meeting the group who helped me through so many rough years growing up. I THANK YOU!
are there any live versions of this amazing song when Glenn was still with LRB?

Yes they are older...I guess, we all grow older with time.
But that's what makes life so precious!
We enjoy our youth or we should appreciate it while it's here.
I grew up listening to Little River Band and now I am 48.
At least the older ones can say we're a bit wiser now...lol
Anyway...it was good to hear these familiar sounds again and thank you guys for all the years of entertaining us :)
