Ok, well, the descent stage would be used as a launch pad, the ascent stage had its own fuel, since there is no atmosphere and barely any gravitational pull on the moon, you wouldnt need such a big engine, the ascent stage seperates from the descent stage and the ascent engines fire.

heres what i dont get, if the earths is 24,900 miles in circumfrunce and its 238.857 miles to moon, how did it take them 3 days to get there, if it only takes 90 mins to orbit the earth, they should have been able to get there in about 10 hours

the CSM & SIVB has to accelerate to about 25K mph to reach escape velocity but the Earth gravity is still pulling you back and slowing you down the whole time you "coast" to the Moon. like a roller coaster going up a big hill. They would have slowed way down to about 2,300 mph entering Lunar orbit.
the trip took 73 hours so the average speed was about 3500mph
@nunchuckerz the size of the ship is unimportant. its the gravity of the Earth / Sun that determines escape velocity. 17,500 mph will get you into Earth orbit (free fall), 24,000 mph will allow you to escape Earths gravity.

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has taken pictures of every landing site and the lunar landers (the part left on the Moon). There is half a ton lunar rocks in Houston, still being studied by geologists *selenologists really!

Yes, Mythbusters is an entertainment show, but they use serious physics to actually test myths and see of they are true or not - that's the point of the whole show ffs, they even use physical formulas to make sure their tests are correctly done!

All those who think the moon landing was faked, i got one thing to say, well, your probrably thinking "how did they get off the surface of the moon with only 15 seconds of fuel to spare?" Ok, well, the descent stage would be used as a launch pad, the ascent stage had its own fuel, since there is no atmosphere and barely any gravitational pull on the moon, you wouldnt need such a big engine, the ascent stage seperates from the descent stage and the ascent engines fire.

I watched this along with half the rest ot the hospital on TV in the TV room at the hospital. the CSM & SIVB has to accelerate to about 25K mph to reach escape velocity but the Earth gravity is still pulling you back and slowing you down the whole time you "coast" to the Moon. like a roller coaster going up a big hill. They would have slowed way down to about 2,300 mph entering Lunar orbit.
the trip took 73 hours so the average speed was about 3500mph

@nunchuckerz the size of the ship is unimportant. its the gravity of the Earth / Sun that determines escape velocity. 17,500 mph will get you into Earth orbit (free fall), 24,000 mph will allow you to escape Earths gravity.

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has taken pictures of every landing site and the lunar landers (the part left on the Moon). There is half a ton lunar rocks in Houston, still being studied by geologists *selenologists really!

@MiotaLee The lander(LEM) had a small rocket engine they used to blast off the moon.they then re-docked with the main craft,flew back to Earth,moved into the landing capsule,came through the atmosphere and finally deployed parachutes to land in the ocean.A Navy ship was always waiting to pick the craft and men up.

@MiotaLee If you`re interested the unmanned LRO moon probe recenly took images of the landing soites.They`re on utube as "ultra close up Apollo 11".The images are small( the largest Apollo debris is only 9 metres across,a tiny object to film,the moon is 1/6th earths size !) but they clearly show the sights.Of course conspiracists will dismiss them as "fake" but with some of these theorists if you took them to the moon personally and rubbed their face in Arnstrongs bootprint,they`d stll cry fake!

@KungFriedChicken The delay is only one way,from the moon to the earth,as the recording was done on Earth,therefore their response is almost immediate.Some films have the delay dited out due to time constraints,but the original is freely available.If you do the maths you`ll see slightly under 2 seconds is exactly as it should be,the conspiracy theorists,as well as ignoring the huge amount of evidence for Apollo,are also ignoring the maths.

:-) He wasn't charged either, although the guy tried to press charged, the officials declined, saying he provoked by not leaving him alone after being told over and over to do so

@JDPublicEnemyNo1 I also think the moonlandings are a fact, but you fuckin' have to stop bringing the mythbusters crap up. It's an entertainment show and I really hope you're not taking THEM seriously. I watched their moon myth episode and it was the most frivolous and pathetic garbage I've ever seen them do. They didn't prove shit. If anything that whole episode only added more fuel to the sceptics.

@JDPublicEnemyNo1 Yeah, but that's exactly what I meant when I said they proved nothing. Soviet sent up reflectors with an unmanned probe ( Lunokhod 2 ) so even if the apollo astronauts placed reflectors by hand, the mythbusters didn't really prove that at all. Also, I think they only did the obvious , classic myths like the waving flag and the shadows etc. You have to be crazy not to understand those. I just wish they would have dug a little deeper.

I watched the show and I thought Adam & Jamie especially did a wonderful job duplicating the shadow photo's and the astronauts wires ( the Zero-G flight was a perfect choice for a test, same training used by Nasa ) and the footprint & flag in the baro chamber, nothing wrong with that either, perfect choice. the reflector experiment ? again. perfect demonstration, nothing at all added any doubts. their tests showed what the hoaxers stated could not exist

Yes, Mythbusters is an entertainment show, but they use serious physics to actually test myths and see of they are true or not - that's the point of the whole show ffs, they even use physical formulas to make sure their tests are correctly done!
And their point with their moon landing episode was to show that all moon landing footage has NATURAL EXPLANATIONS, and Adam even stressed that in the middle of the episode!
Pay more attention next time.

@trypticon101 Also, good luck copying the exactly same moonwalk on Earth, you can combine slow-motion and wires and film it underwater if you like, it will still not look like the moon landing footage - they only way they managed to copy it properly was to put THEMSELVES in a 1/6 g environment!
Do you seriously think the wires were even half as smooth and natural-looking as the Zero-G test?
