  • @dtseringdorje Complacency does have it's hidden dangers. Lack of awareness is definitely one of them. Some form of suffering will jolt us back to the reality of samsara. Here's a recent quote from Rinpoche which may apply :- " I was hanging around on the beach having a great time when this dude named Buddha showed up and said I was suffering." hehe..always makes me laugh.

  • Dear Tsem Lama goes berserk! Beautiful Dharma speach! Good! Very Good! But I have to hit you, big stick! Where are you? Where are these people sitting? Why to be unaware of reality around you? What are you? Why not aware of your own ass? Do you feel pain in your butt during sitting meditations? This pain is what? Why not to awake with a bit less speech and more still mind? This pain is all you need to experience to awake and start living better life, less confusion, more clear mind awareness.

  • @dtseringdorje You sound like you have a experience with gurus :) nice. Or lots of zen meditations where they whack you with a big stick :) either way good to meet u on youtube.

  • @dtseringdorje Reading your comment I'm reminded of the film, "Kundun." The Chinese communist general asks the Prime Minister of Tibet how much tea he drinks. He's being a jerk, of course. So the Prime Minister responds, "That depends upon the quaility, and THAT IT COMES FROM INDIA!" In other words, Chinese tea leaves much to desired. As for practicing Buddhism, it depends upon the quality, and THAT IT COMES FROM INDIA. Meditate upon this koan. And you know what you can do with your big stick.

  • Great! Every single teaching is perfect Rinpoche-La...

  • @millagems Wonderful, I pray you have the same pure view as your teachers :)

  • What he's speaking about is not limited to just Buddhists. The subtle self-cherishing mind still at play must be checked. We students must always check-up on our motives! Are they self-cherishing and ego based, even subtly? Wonderful teaching here.

  • That is so funny! Rinpoche is going to drop all his pretenses of his fake compassion of a Lama! This is really honest of this Lama and he is trying to say that when we are pushed to the corner do we reveal our true nature and intentions. Real people's intentions remain the same under duress.

  • A real Lama will always use the most skillful means to benefit the students. Sometimes it could be giving gifts, being jovial and fun. For some students that would include wrathful methods, nagging, scolding and other fierce methods. It is the same and the intention is to benefit you despite how it may look like.

  • Rinpoche is so honest of his intention, he leaves nothing to the imagination so we don't have some kind of rosy picture in our head. In that way, he is very disarming and he is a real Lama!

  • Politics and Dharma don't mix unless you are highly attained. So we have sniff out the politics and practise the Dharma. We stick with Guru who has benefitted us and our center that has been our spiritual home plus our Dharma friends who have been real friends to us.

  • I think we should all adopt in varying degrees, Rinpoche's attitude of not compromising when it comes to benefiting others and practising the Dharma. In that way, we over obstacles faster and easier and gain attainments too.

  • Rinpoche's teachings are just so honest and brutally blunt. It is really refreshing as it is down to earth yet profound in its meaning. May we he live long, have more students, more YouTube teachings, books, and benefit countless beings like me.

  • Yeah. Many people lack gratitude. They just prefer to see a flaw and hold on to it despite a hundred good qualities the person has.

  • Impart dharma to them is most important... 6:15

  • "Change is good!", "I have to pretend I'm holy." - Rinpoche I love you! :)

  • Homage to Rinpoche for his stance.

  • I once read somewhere that if ones guru devotion is strong & one practises well, even if ones guru is false, one can still gain enlightenments.

  • @redlatties Yes, that is correct, and what I've been taught when it comes to guru devotion and discipleship. It's the student's sincerity that will allow them to do so in this case.

  • We are fortunate to see this video, very fortunate. This is a great opportunity.

  • Dropping pretenses and changing my attitude...Rinpoche's words always cuts right through me (in a good way!). No matter how many times Rinpoche says he is not singling anyone out when he gives his talks, sometimes I can't help but think he is giving the talk with me in mind. Then again, his words always apply to everyone, no matter our background, culture, race, religion, because he SPEAKS THE TRUTH.

  • in each and every one of his talks, i feel like he is talking about me exclusively. It scares me sometimes that he knows so much about me and provide the exact blueprints to transform me!

  • Rinpoche tells it the way it is yet in a hilarious way...no ifs... no buts...

  • I love Rinpoche's teaching. FUNNY YET VERY INSPIRING!!!!

  • if we want a teacher that only praises us, and once he criticizes us we stay away, then why are we looking for a teacher in the first place? When a teacher tells us off we should be grateful because it shows that he or she sincerely wants us to be better people. tsemtulku(dot)com

  • Rinpoche is right. How could we doubt our lama that easily with just a few rumours? You should check the Lama to see if he is authentic before you accept him or her and after that there should be no more doubts. If you would like to learn more, there is a book called Gurus For Hire, Enlightenment for sale transcribed from the talk above about this subject available at kechara(dot)com

  • this video is part of a clip of a longer and more extensive set of teachings that was given to his students 3 days in a row, called Gurus For Hire enlightenment for sale. There's so much more to learn in them. You can get them at kechara(dot)com or neonlama(dot)com

  • at this time, I feel that it's very important to not say that a certain teacher or lineage is not practicing correctly and spread the gospel. It's very damaging to the Dharma. Why make Buddhism a political issue? is it fun or correct to lead a crusade against other fellow Buddhists just because what they practice is not the same as yours?

  • Sigh, I could reall feel HE Tsem Rinpoche's pain. After all, who likes having their teachers criticized in any way? Because we do not like our teachers to be criticized, we should not do that to another teacher too,no matter how wrong he or she may appear to be because instead of dissuading people from a wrong teacher, you are hurting the students greatly.

  • Rinpoche really knows how to teach and use examples that are relevant to the non-tibetan public. How appealing. This particular incarnation of Tsem Rinpoche really benefits many beings out of the Tibetan world. How needed. Thank you so much Rinpoche.

  • he's fa-bu-lous...

  • Very relavent about the "gold" issue..I see where he was going with this and I really appreciate the insight.

  • Hilarious, blirriant! :DDDD

  • Wants, cars, and diamond rings? To someone who isn't familier with this guy it sounds very strange that he is bragging and joking about taking people's money by pretending to be compassionate.

  • where is his diamond ring or his car? to make negative comments against someone you dont even know is called slander. And if that someone happens to be someone very wise, I dont think its a good idea...

  • can i have the diamond ring? i am greedy. then i can sell it and buy a plane ticket to malaysia.

  • boo, mr. clueless you.

  • not rinpoche, the guy who be dissin. utube is being weird

  • Maaaaate .... you gotta come to OZ!!

    Pleeeaasssee .... ;-)

P.S. Yellow is my favourite colour right now

  • haha that is cute

  • teach me the dharma... i'm very greedy... i don't know why... but please please please rinpoche more more more rinpoche please please pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    plz plz plz plz

if you refuse to teach me dharma i will just have to be a little naughty to get you to change your mind _pout_

  • Rinpoche, if you were here in Texas I would make sure to be early for every Dharma talk! I will be flying to Washington D.C. to see Lama Zopa Rinpoche next week...receive 21 Tara empowerment. Please, go through the womb again, we are always here.

  • That which you said about telling people nice and false things reminds me way too much about all those fake/abusive seers, tarot readers, mediums, spiritists and gurus that sell their services on TV and the phone here in Mexico. You'd love to see that, Rinpoche. LOL

  • It's easy to tell if a "Buddhist" on the net is really a Buddhist or just a wannabe trying to act and look nice: fake ones will always be nice and say thank you when they get told off even though its pretty obvious they're faking it lol.

lots of em in buddhist forums and communities online ha ha ha

  • Thankyou Rinpoche
