  • For those who hoped this would become a tourist attraction, the set burned in a wildfire on 9/27/2011

  • Does the movie set still stance?

  • A friend of mine's grandfather road with Poncho Villa and was an technical adviser on the John Wayne Production of The Alamo. He also provided many of the guns used in the movie. I was in Wimberly Texas today (3-2-11) as a few of the canons were trucked to San Antonio for the Texas Independance Day Celebration. The truck stopped for photographs ! ! ! Viva Texas ! ! !

  • that would be so cool to go and see

  • Thieves, cowards and murderers... you stole our children land has you did with the native americans. You lie and twist history... when are you having your next Irak??? After all is not oil you're after but democracy!!! Democracy american style is robbing lands and making wars!!!! God damn america!!! You're not christians!!!!

  • @Armagedon2030 What the hell are you talking about?

  • @Armagedon2030 a few men with very little training held back an entire army 10 times the size of there force pretty amazing.dosent say much about the mexican army

  • @Armagedon2030 Benjamin Frank-a-lin dem aint none of yo fren?

  • I'm thinking paint ball range.

  • The loss of this movie set will not be much of a loss. The proportions are severely distorted, and are pure Hollywood. The actual Alamo compound was about 3 times larger. So if you go here, to get a sense of what it must have looked like, you will be totally misinformed.

  • the location for the movie is in an area of hamilton pool road just outside of austin tx. i know as i was the construction forman for the film, its on eugene reimers property

  • @jercasillas -Why wont he open this up to public. People would pay to go see it like the John Wayne set. Do you still talk to Mr Reimers?

  • It's a shame the owner of the property hasn't kept it up. I know the insurance etc. was high but it is worth preserving.

  • That would make one heck of a reenactment site

  • that looks like right after the war

  • Let me tell you something, it was a site to see when it had first been built... What a shame...

  • I've seen the John Wayne set in Brackettville, Texas. Where is this set located?

  • hey not our fault mexico invited us.

besides,Santa Anna knew we would probally out grow and try to keep our independence.

  • and so its Mexico's fault for EVERYTHING!

if he didnt invite us Texas would STILL be Mexican turf.

  • It's not "abandoned" in the sense that it's in the middle of a large working ranch. There is a house not 1/4 mile from the set, and goats are kept in the Alamo set area.

  • id love to visit

  • I am happy to see the set is till on display. Could you tell me where that set is located and do you know if it is also the one that was used in John Wayne's movie the Alamo? Thanks for showing this.

  • This is the set to the 2004 Alamo film directed by John Lee Hancock. The John Wayne set is in Brackettville, Texas - it's called Alamo Village, and is open for tours, and film production. This set is falling into disrepair, and will eventually (soon) fall in.

  • in other words: "abandoned", isnt it?
