  • @mywifesafag Try aiming a rifle underwater whilst holding a taser. Less accuracy.

  • Sonic Boom!

  • I'm interested in the X-com series, any you would recommend?

  • @Weibbles X-Com: UFO Defense is very, very good. Terror From the Deep has it's moments, from what i've seen, but is very frustrating if you love keeping people alive. Interceptor is a flight sim sort of game, set in the X-Com universe, Enforcer is a very horrible FPS, from what I've seen, and Apocalypse is pretty interesting, but you might not enjoy it as much as UFO Defense or TFTD.

  • Why doesn't he just put the tazers into the X-coms' left hands so they won't have to later?

  • Actually here gauss is related to the gaussian beam which is the optimal profile for a coherent beam of electromagnetig radiation to keep its focus over long distances.

  • You know, This may sound off topic, but you sound like Wheatley From Portal 2...

  • 10 pistols and 30 bullets?

  • @TheBokkelul No 10 pistols and 30 clips all containing 10 bullets.

  • @zanz37 sorry clips containing 20 bullets so 20X30 is?

  • ur acting is so awesome ur like those football spectators saying like the player passes the ball well UR BETTER!

  • im not kidding but his comment is a refrence to all the time you say "im not kidding"

  • didnt assign your troops HW, T, G, M, etc ? so you know how to arm them?

  • God help you when you find a tentacrulat

  • what happened to all the women? is X Com Sexist now???

  • Should have been called Barry XII. :'-(

  • So did they kick women out from joining or what

  • @novidsfrome a=And only let very creepy men join

  • Great game, but am I wrong to believe it makes use, FULL use, of the cpu? Cause I'm coming back from missions in level 2 difficulty, with high fricking casualties.

should I sack people with low bravery, or use them as cannon fodder?

  • @Foxkoun Is it not the most difficult game ever, I thought it was just because I was young when I played it in 90's but its just as hard now LOL

  • yay barry

  • If aliens invade earth I want this guy to command the earth armies

  • name a aquanaut yolo

  • look out alien scum because Barry is back!

  • barry is back? but all the clones up to XI died

  • Barry MXXVII - FINALLY COMPLETE.

  • wait a minute was one of you recruits last name gaudin because in Necroscopes86's LP of X-com he got a soldier whos last name was gaudin

  • A Gauss gun would sort of work the same way as a Rail Gun, as it accelerates an object using magnetism.

Apparently humanity forgot about the medkit, though I do admit trying to find ways to make it work underwater might be hard.

  • What i want to know is: Is there a disadvantage simply holding the thermal tazer in the other hand? does it reduce accuracy?

  • @CoCoBearYT

Yes it reduces accuracy. Avoid having something in your other hand when firing weapons. I don't remember if it only effects rifles and larger guns (two handed weapons), so mabe when shooting pistols it dosn't matter. But its been so many years since I last played x-com games I'm not sure about the pistols

  • I have to say: The commentary makes these videos roughly 50 times better than they would be otherwise.

  • i know you did this last year, but an underwater UFO is a USO. an unidentified submergered object.

and hearing about gauss makes me want to play sins of a solar empire, seeing as the TEC's main planetary defense is a gauss canon.

  • I am confused... why get rid of your base's first living quarters after you built one?

  • @WuffyWolffoot It was directly adjacent to the airlock.

Imagine aliens invading, and all your squishy support staff throwing a welcoming party.

  • @WuffyWolffoot

When aliens attck your base they come in through the hatch and hangars, if you isolate them so there is a choke point you then know where all the aliens are and only have to defend one area. By the way he did that if he gets attacked he only has to defend the hatch.

  • You do realize that there is a bug in TFTD that sets the difficulty to superhuman after saving, right?

  • Ill have to steal something from a Necroscope stream but here goes

    Kikoskia has panicked

  • What EXACTLY is Gauss? I know it's something sciencey, but.....what exactly is it?

  • I do believe it is super-accelerated particles, much like the plasma weapons in X-Com: UFO Defence. The only difference in the game is that the Gauss weapons do not require Elerium to run, which humans both do not have a continued supply or and dissolves in water.

  • Thank you, that's helped a LOT.

I stayed up playing the original X-Com (I have the originals) and it's amazing how the gameplay stands up.even now. I'm debating naming a squaddie after you, mind if I do that? I have a Superfly already. Cue snarky comments from yours truly at the screen.

  • Agh I meant Apocalypse, not the original X-com. Even though both are great

You ever tried the remake/spiritual sequel on Souorceforge (UFO2000)?

  • @Kikoskia Technicly, Gauss in real is unit for magnetic induction, so generally it is really accelerating, but not particles, for that you need de facto directed path for particles, so in uncontrolled enviroment the logical outcome is accelerating projectiles. (Really really)^3 laic description, but as many know... /lazy : ))

  • @Kikoskia And the term Gauss in reference to technology basically means: Anything that is launch by magnetic forces. Like say some of the ridiculously fast trains they have now. In terms of weapons they're also referred to as Railguns and their major advantages is that they're completely silent and super-accurate.

  • @Kikoskia Essentially it's using high electrical/magnetic fields to super accelerate slugs of metal rather than use an explosive cartrige as our gunpowder-based weapons do.

Plasma is also accelerated matter, but in a very different way. Plasma is essentially super-hot gas :)

  • @Kikoskia and in real life gauss is particle acceleration via magnets. sorry for replying to old comment lol

  • @Kikoskia gauss is actually its the measurement of the strength of a magnet

  • @Kikoskia i believe gauss is more along the lines of a rail gun isn't it? from what i remember between gauss and ppcs in battletech

  • Kikoskia is correct. Gauss weapons in TFTD are a sort of particle accelerator based off the plasma weaponry of the first alien war that propel a stream of antiprotons at it's target.

However, in reality, a Gauss gun (or coil gun) is a theoretical weapon which uses a series of electromagnetic coils to propel a magnetic projectile.

    Silly game developers.

  • @DieKolkrabe according to wikipedia: a gauss gun is a type of projectile accelerator that consists of multiple coils used as electromagnets in the configuration of a synchronous linear electric motor which accelerate a magnetic projectile to high velocity. In laman terms: magnets make metal thing go fast

  • @DieKolkrabe From my knowledge of Gauss derived from Mech Warrior, it's a gun that uses magnets to fire a large nail into enemies.sometimes the nail is explosive...

  • @DieKolkrabe Electromagnetically propelled bullets. Like a railgun.

  • @DieKolkrabe Essentially, fictional Gauss technology (named after the famed mathematician) propels metal slugs at supersonic speeds by means of accelerating their velocity using magnetic rails.

  • @DieKolkrabe: gauss actuly work with magnets and not particle accelerator

  • @DieKolkrabe

it is essentially the rail gun

  • @DieKolkrabe i think gauss (in sci-fi manner) is basically an electrical current that charges, heats, propells, etc. particles in a near needle accurate manner. the fact that a gauss gun (ALLITERATION!!) relies on the persons aim explaisn the fact that you can very easily miss.

  • @Xman42635 I know this is 5 months old and all, but the idea behind a gauss cannon is the same as the one behind maglev bullet trains, only propelling an object ranging from a penny sized round, to a solid 10 foot block of steel, the difference being launch speed. The penny sized round would be the thing to fire if you want to put a three mile hole ahead of you. So yeah, you were pretty close with propelling.

  • @DieKolkrabe actually its the measurement of the strength of a magnet

  • YOU MUST HAVE GAUSS!

  • how about we call them 'Alien Submermed somethings having one large enegry signature' or (ASSHOLES)

  • Perhaps it's not a silly voice and in fact is my actual voice.

  • @Kikoskia dude. your voice is not silly it's EPIC.

  • After 40 years of developing, Barry's DNA code should be perfect now.

  • go barry!

  • wouldn't they be called uSos? Unidentified Swimming/Sailing Object?

  • They're not technically swimming or sailing so you might as well keep calling them UFOs for Unidentified Floating Objects.

  • Well they could be Unidentified Submersible Objects.

  • technically there not unidentified at all since we know what they are...

  • This is correct. Though, technically, it's Unidentified Submerged Object. Just like how UFO got its start as a military term for a yet-to-be identified contact on Radar, possibly hostile, the USO is a maritime analog, typically (in real life) signifying a sonar contact of a submerged object whose identification, aspect, or ship-class has not yet been identified. Use of the term USO usually is in the context of one country encountering a new foreign submarine design for the first time.

  • @AgentNick42 maybe it is an unidentified ............... florescent object or an unidentified floating object.

  • Protip: Its horrible compared to the good old laser rifle

  • Tastho's and Lobster men take the piss. On beginner a lobster man took a direct hit from a disruptor pulse launcher and was only knocked out.

When i first meet Tastho's I was only using gauss guns : o. I saved the first part of the ship with only two people left and had to abort the second part. Aliens in dis game have tons more health : O

  • Many tasoths withstand distruptor pulse launcher attacks lolz.

  • yeah my biggest problem was too that no ufos ever showed up

  • If this game continues after Great War against UFO, why we have to research Medic Kit, we had accessed this technology decades ago.

  • because this one works under the sea

  • Old geoscape music was better IMHO, it sounds too much like Jaws now.

  • Aww weres the Team line up in the discription box from the last run of this game. I always found that funny.

  • Are you going to use tanks or M.C.?

  • Those technicians have a lot to do.

  • eeeeep...

  • Umm, dammit they're pistols! Pistols, unless they're at least double damage compared to the Cannons, you need the other weaponry to make sure these people stay alive!

  • Oh and sweet I waited for this LP :) Good luck

  • Karry...smoke grenades provide cover yes but also provides cover for the enemies as well and can cause dramatic losses to your side if not used properly...besides as long as you take cover there pretty useless and I never use them at all when playing x-com rarely

  • as you use pistols, could have put tazer in hands from start without accuracy loss

  • He might have not had Acc loss, but he would have required burning time units if he needed to pop a grenade into his hand. Starting with one empty hand or at most a grenade or flare is ALWAYS preferrable to starting with a taser.

  • What the...why does it show Wesker having 0 kills when you look at his stats in the beginning?

  • Because grenades, rockets, and stuns don't credit the killcounter on the stat page though they DO count towards allowing the soldier to gain rank and XP. Only gunshots that cause a death advance the killcounter.

  • You got it backwards. Kills with explosives DO count towards total kills, but don't give the soldier any exp or skillups.

But what with how long Kiko's crew is going to last, I don't think building accuracy really matters.

  • Gauss...I did my first terror mission with basic weapons.Without tanks. And i finished it with three aquanauts alive.I got -3 score for the mission. But,i was surprised i managed to complete it.
