Republicans had already been shut out, 2,400 pages were drafted in a hyper-partisan manner and Obama offers 40 pages at the end with 4 watered-down Republican ideas and calls it bi-partisan? But in the summit, you clearly hear the republican's excellent ideas, listen to Paul Ryan and other gives some excellent suggestions and make valid criticisms...all of which fall on deaf ears. This is about 18-19% of the GDP we're talking about nationalizing, make the right choice based on facts.

Hey, even your beloved Democratic Senator Robert Byrd, the drafter of "reconciliation" back in 1974, came out and publicly denounce the use of this process for health care "reform" indicating it was never intended for items like this bill (along with 18 other democratic senators). Even Obama said this in 2004 and 2006 (He said its not really change is we ram it through with a simple majority). Oh how times have changed...yes they have, and the people are now against the bill...not right.

Democrats have used reconciliation 6 times in the past . Republicans have used 22 times . Including the Bush tax cuts that added over a trillion dollars to the deficit .

Reconcilliation has been used on both sides in the past for balancing budgets, not for passing huge legislation that affects 18-19% of the economy. I wouldn't liken the bush tax cuts to this. And by the way, they were our tax cuts, you and I, we saved the money, you should be happy. Bush and congress f'ed up because they didn't reign in spending when they should have and created a deficit. Government spending was the problem here, not the tax cut.

The Bush tax cuts were for the rich ! I don't fall in the rich category . Obama ended those cuts for the rich and extended them to the middle and lower class . The rich were paying about 10% lower taxes than the rest of the country so it's time they foot their fair share . Over 1trillion added to the debt because of the Bush cuts . Yes , you can liken the Bush cuts to the healthcare . They cost about the same but the healthcare will generate $ toward paying the national debt .

Look at Rasmussen's Mar 1st or Gallup's Feb 8th polls to see public opinion on Obama care....but never let people get in the way of a good agenda right? Don't blame SS colaps on just Bush, it was flawed since Roosevelt proposed it, once birth rates drop its ever more difficult to fund, then Lyndon Johnson moved it from the trust fund to the general fund where much of it got spent for non SS purposes. It was never supposed to be taxed, Clinton/Gore taxed 85% of it, Jimmy Carter allowed immigrants who never paid in to draw from it at age 65. Neither party have been good stewardds of the program, but point is, Government has bankrupted it.
