  • how the hell does someone come up with music like this i love his interpretation the best !!!!!!! major genius !!!!!!

  • Bream's O-face @ 2:45

  • Bream s intrepetation and Sabrina Vlaskalic which is a very close match are the best intrepetation of this brilliante piece.

This piece is Rondo Brilliante which simply means play passionately with glitter and spark that each stave demands to create the Brilliance that the piece deserves or the composer had intended.

Must agree with other s comment about Jie s performnace although good but at times lacks the passion.

  • I love it, but I liked Li Lie's version better.

  • and if people cant understand that then somthing is wrong

  • i like the guitar faces cause it shows feeling and emotion in his playing

  • For comparison i recommend to google the phrase "emanuele buono aguado" and click the first link. It shows how guitar technique has been improved through years :) but Bream is still great!

  • este chabon es una bestia,

  • Hey!! Scroll back up Mr. Bream is playing up there!!

  • A truly fantastic song. I came across this song looking up some famous classical guitarists that Christopher Parkening suggested. I have decided that this song will be the song I perform at my senior year high school variety show... In two years! Haha! Any idea where I could buy this transcription? Please and thank you!

  • Bream is fantastic and an absolute joy to listen to and watch but we all know that

  • 5:08 - 5:23

I didn't know Bream could play also the violin :)) Only he can do this...

  • this song is really great

  • This is one of the most beautiful pieces ever written for the classical guitar. It can be compared with some masterpieces of classical music. I am surprised because this great guitarist-composer doesn't have the reputation he deserves. Young students hate him because of the difficulty they face in learning his etudes. Solists prefer to interprete works of Giuliani or Sor, such as the Rossinianas, the Grand Ouverture, Grand Solo and Sor's op.9 and they miss this delightful musicality.

  • Who would possibly dislike it?

  • Not dicks but digs... Its a sort of apartment... Funny though :D

  • Interesting, I didn't know that Fernandor Sor and Dionisio Aguado shared dicks together.

  • Just Great.

  • Let's face it... Julian Bream is one of the most expressive musicians in history.

  • this sounds great on steel string as well-ever so often i'll switch it up or play it in a different key altogether is a lot of fun too but i still prefer it on nylon if i'm playing live.

    wow..3:01 amazing exact(facial expression) of B.B.King!

  • he's face sais it all, .... " I jizzed in mah pants"

  • Aguado and Sor shared dicks together in Paris??

They should have stayed in Spain.

  • @glm1685 'Digs'. English slang for cheap accommodation. Think 'La Boheme' with guitars. Also, there are 46 Million Spaniards, and I'm guessing not one of them really gives a toss what you think of them. Just saying.

  • Julian bream is my favorite performer ever

  • I prefer to lie jie

  • @canabitron1 lol?

  • the most fantastic performance ever seen!!!!!

    expression in 2:45 priceless!!!!!! x'D

  • Listen to 2:24 "They shared dicks together".

  • @kisskisshoneyhoney ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's great! Bream - the best :)

  • this is pure magic thankyou Mr bream x

  • maaaaaaeeeeestrooooo!!!!

  • lol @ the fights

  • [insert comment regarding Bream vs. Li Jie here]

  • 5:22 wtf how he get that violin sound

  • 2:46 is an instance of what musical orgazm looks like (like "jeez! I've wetted my long johns again!)...

    Anyway, astonishing performance.

  • Comment removed

  • ¬¬ Li Jie is little guitar-playing-robot. After all, asians have no soul. Bream actually feels what he's playing. Pretty much like Vai =D

  • @otharennaur hay how about you f off im a guitar playing asian and i play better than bream

  • @adhh85278527 lol hahaha

  • @adhh85278527 no one plays better than Bream. Especially someone who says they do.

  • @adhh85278527 What exactly do you mean by better? and how old were you when you started playing classical?

  • @otharennaur ? "Do not wear your emotions on your sleeve".

Oh sure, that's why they make great slaves, like niggers according to the old catholic church, cause they have no soul.

    Wait;

Did you just compared J. Bream to Steve Gai?

    You should get raped

    You really insulted me, now

I hope you die with your anus infested of aids

  • @luisfcoliveira Yes, I compared them, they both feel what they're playing, If you're another close-minded fanboy it's not my fault. It doesn't matter if their styles are different, I'm talking about feeling what they do, they both do, and that's it. Or do you prefer comparing him to the idiot of Hendrix?

  • @otharennaur no they both eat shit electrical guitar is not a real instrument I'm sure Steve Vai does like to FEEL really a dick up his arse that faggot he can eat a dick and he can eat shit too, i dont give a fuck stop listening to crap before you start listening to Julian Bream The same thing is comparing an electrical violin to a violin Absurd... -.-!
  • @luisfcoliveira Oh, excuse me, Electric guitar and classic guitar are two completely different instruments. You don't seem to understand the electric guitar. What if I compare Bream to Lucia Micarelli? would that be ok with you? or should compare only guitar players with guitar players? I mean, c'mon! we're talking about feeling over here! It doesn't matter if someone plays guitar, violin, piano, whatever! it's about them feeling what they play!

  • @otharennaur electrical guitar is gay

is there anything else to understand?

or like you americans like to say it:

    Fake and Gay

    Point blank please

  • @luisfcoliveira I'm not american. And as far as I can see you're another close-minded fanboy. Never thought there would be people like that listening to this kind of music. You shouldn't judge by the instrument instead of the music.

  • @otharennaur o.o

    xD

  • @luisfcoliveira Electric guitar is gay? Please don't drive safely.

  • i love the look at the very end, maybe to the film crew, where he hits that last note and he's like "there, how ya like that?"

I gotta say, Bream is one of my heroes. not only because of his music, but i admire his great passion for his field of study. this is coming from a guy who grew up in the mid-west US on a farm with country music playing in nearly every pickup truck. Thanks England for producing as fine a son as Sir Julian.

  • Does anyone know if Bream played the harp as well?

  • @Iaokanan29 I don't think so. He did play piano and cello. That's how he got into Academy, since they didn't have a guitar dept. Does anyone know of any videos showing him playing piano or cello? That would be a riot.

  • i second this last comment

    p.e.r.f.e.c.t.

  • perfect!

  • perfect!

  • perfect!!!

  • He's playing a Jose Romanillos in this Video, You can tell by the headstock and rosette, Jose Romanillos had a signature rosette with "arches". Many of Hermann Hauser's guitars had a different headstock similar to Torress and a rather simple rosette with herringbone pattern

  • he plays his Hermann Hausser. This video clip is part of the movie Guitarra! and he would only use his finest guitar for that :) you can tell its his Hausser by the wear on the spruce top. good guesses though.

  • Interesting - according to the Guitarra! DVD and his "Life on the Road" book, he commissioned his guitars for the series from Jose Romanillos. (sp?)

  • can anyone tell me what guitar normally bream uses.......

  • @jeffreykevinguitar

I believe Bream plays a Gary Southwell, among others. Hard to say though, as he's known to own a dozen concert guitars including Kohno, Kevin Aram, David Rubio and other UK luthiers

  • Bream normally uses the classical guitar, though he is also a master of the lute, look it up

  • Indescribable.

I just wish one thing: that I can be able to play like this one day...

    Let's sigh.

  • Bream is god of the guitar!!!

    and of music!

what comes out of his playing is incredible guitar artistry and yet...much more...his beautiful personality..life...

  • Гениально! Мощно !

  • One of only a few guitarists in the world whose style is easily recognizable on a recording.

  • this video is rly rly old

  • if you listen closely, there's a lot more variation of tone and overall fireworks in bream's interpretation. Li Jie plays it much more straight and by-the-book

  • @wassuppaska I agree. Even though Li Jie's playing is "perfect," Bream's is ever so much more interesting to listen to.

  • @wassuppaska i agree completely, but on the other hand ur comparing a Julian Bream performance, who is an old guitar professional, and Li Jie's performance as a teen. Bream has of course much better comprehension of the piece.

  • Amazing

  • old man jules the god send!

  • Best guitar face ever.

  • 2:46 xD

  • LOL

    'I Came...'

  • @violetninja All those years of playing and has that kind of passion for his music.....what a total badass.

  • i cant get over how good this is.. the facial expressions are priceless !

  • this is perfect in every way.

  • Comment removed

  • Julian Bream brings extraordinary feeling into the piece. Li Jie's playing of this piece is excellenet but it just doesn't have the dynamics of Bream's playing.

I just started playing this piece. It's really nice.

  • He is so physical in his movements. I absolutely love it. I can only imagine how he hears this in his head.

  • I've never seen a guitarist who becomes as immersed visually in pieces as Julian Bream. He's definitely one of the best guitarists I've ever heard.

  • u know after checking so many other vids of this rondo..this is still my favorite..

  • certified intergalactic!

  • yeh something like that....

  • this performance is too good!

  • It's more than good ..it is beautiful perfection!

  • this is more than perfections, its ABSOLUTe...ah....what comes after perfection!?

    :D

  • pause the video at 2:46

  • what happen??

  • ahhaahaaahh

  • what does sor and aguado share again?...i keep hearing a wrong word!

this is more than amazing...I'd do anything to have him as my teacher

  • To Mkamalid...I think he said they shared gigs together.

  • yeh ..i thought so it just sounded weird if u keep repeating it the mic kind of messes up and makes it sound like a d..or maybe his old voice or accent

  • iamJROD, the guy on the video said they shared digs, i.e. they lived together. I thought he said gigs the first time i watched this too

  • so..sorry me english isn't that great but what does digs mean in this context?..

  • no problem, it means a house/apartment. just a general term for a place where you live

  • Thanks mate :).

  • the best version!

  • LMAO. Great music though.

  • holas mi nombre es nicolas aguado y soy guitarrista.. que vacano dionisio aguado, debe ser familia

  • una entre-nous?

  • tad excentric coz of Periphrasis - odd inflections in melody - reference 2Linguistics for lack of better word...

Still, a display of outstanding virtuosity .

It's just a pity no one really took Dennis A. seriously when he introduced his Tripodium (tripod for the guitar) because it actually does make a difference in articulation (if only with Aguado's compositions) - I've tried it; I had one built for me by Aguado's indications. (I'm also excentric).

  • POINT TO NOTE:

A 'fag' a British term meaning a cigarette (for Americans who may think it means some thing else) :-)

  • I think the facial expressions help to convey the musical message across, a players body language help us to understand the emotional aspect of high music. And its not wrong to have a giggle now and again, Julian has a great sense of humour about him and is really a down to earth man who likes a beer and a fag!

  • its wery beautifull music

  • I agree with elmer fudd here ;)

  • It's like a very convincing and inspiring oration from a very intelligent person. hearing his rendition of this piece and seeing the Master play it, makes me think that he's personally singing and talking with me face to face using his guitar as his medium. Very impressive!

  • at 4:40 it really looks like he's having a lot of trouble pushing a big pooh outside his anus... anyway great piece of music wondefully played!

  • making fun of Julian Bream "faces" when his is playng is like making fun of Einstein hair.... he is a genius, what is on the stage is his music and him also... you can't separate one from the other

  • Yes, they are both geniuses... that doesn't mean that Einstein's hair or Bream's pushing is beyond a little piss-taking...... lighten up

  • I am verry verrrrrryyyy lighten up!!!! hahahhahaha you'r right

  • idiot

  • Julian Bream makes the best guitar faces.

  • wow!

parece que entrara en trance con tan bella obra clásica y gran performancia!

    increíblemente impresionante!

  • lol! you're right

  • how amazing?

how much do i love it??

  • assoluto rispetto!!

  • He says they shared digs, as in lived at the same place. This is part of a documentary and so of course there will be speaking throughout the filming. I have the documentary and it is very good.

  • respect

  • Unreal...

  • How to do this in 5.03?

  • its missing the entire introduccion that is usually play before the rondo...however from the beginning it just shows him starting from the rondo itself...and its possible he do some of the repeats but i havent heard this version in a while...

  • This just couldnt be better. I'm not even going to use the word perfect because it doesnt imply the amount of personality in Breams beautiful interpretation.

  • Julian Bream is great, nobody play like him!

  • ele toca pra caralho , mas tem cara de babaca

  • A one word summation using three syllables = beloved.

This video shows why the most humble Julian Bream has retained his popularity as an exceptional audio/visual performer & teacher of the grandest scale for more than forty years.

    Unique & unparalleled. ☺

  • I have never seen a guitarist enjoying more the piece he is playing. I have never seen a man happier with what he is doing. In spite of the great masters of the past, Sor, Giulianni, Tarrega etc. I always thought that classical guitar, began and ended with Segovia. I am not that sure any more. Thank you Mr Bream. God bless you!

  • Bream plays with so much feeling, that I'm sure it rivals even segovia.

Towards at the end of the piece he even has tears at the corner of his eyes, if you watch closely. simply one of the best performers of all times.

  • Segovia is no match.

Would have loved to hear Barrios play this, too, as I'm quite certain he would have - so might have Manjón.

  • Amazing what he does at 0:44-0:46. It's these unique touches that make Bream such a pleasure to watch and listen.

  • do you mean the appuyando, or the set of trills ?

  • No particular technique. Just the style of the passage, which is completely different from what I've heard elsewhere.

  • I can listen to him play this a million times, and never get sick of hearing it. A superior performance by Mr. Bream- He plays with guts and feeling, hiding nothing. It is pure to listen to and His enthusiasm keeps him young....This is truly delightful!

  • Maestro...

  • lol i sounded a little gay in my last comment. i meant he plays beautifully.

  • i love how expressive mr.bream is. absolutely beautiful piece and performer.

  • great!!!! I cant say anymore!!

  • esta si es musica

  • Maestro Bream's joy for music comes through in his performance. one of a kind.

  • GRANDE GORDO

    EXCELENTE CHEVERE TEMA

  • non trovo parole...il più grande di tutti i tempi...

  • I didn't know there was vocal.

  • un maestro!

  • I have to say that this has always been my favorite performance of the Rondo. Technically its flawless but Bream as usual brings such color to the music that it makes the piece sound bigger than its parts. See his Homage to debussy by Falla elsewhere for an example of making a simple piece sound epic.

  • the most important thing that maestro bream left to us is that feeling of: i'd never do this that way, but in his context is the better choice. Here we hear his rondó, just like maestro segovia did

  • buenisimo

  • Да он же вертуоз нах.

    Нештяк, вообще.

  • TABARNakKK Sa Speu Paaaaa

  • I'm so glad you asked. The "Viennese School" is simply another way of saying "classicism," as in Classical music, versus the earlier Baroque and the later Romantic styles. My point was that Bream rejects key features of that style: especially the glissandos that Aguado demands. There are fingering issues as well, but the e-editor doesn't allow a full reply. Ask more , and I can say more>

  • Oh, you came back. Thanks for explaining! I know this site editor is a pain in the uhm er... neck shall we say :-) ! But you can split the message into several and post them one after another. Also, you can 'Reply' rather than just post: then it'll be easier to follow the thread.

  • OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bream is one of my heroes, but Jie Li acutally plays what Aguado wrote. His velocity is usurpassed, but Jie Li produces a proper nineteeth-century performance of this piece. She seems to understand, ironically, the "Viennese School" and its aesthetic beter than Bream in this particular video moment. She also bothers to play the vital intoduction. Viva Jie Li; God Bless Julian Bream!

  • I disagree. First, there isn't a great difference in tempos, and second, Bream's performance is downright more musical in my view. Cleaner technically too...

Btw, I'm curious: I'm not sure what you mean by 'understanding the Viennese School' -- could you elaborate?

  • Nothing to say about giraffes and/or neck stretching, but Bream's Romanillos sounds absolutely DELIGHTFUL. Even on these stupid compooter speakers.

  • Those last base notes at the end sounded like farts. He played pretty well. A better performance than Jie Li did at age 14.

  • he's bream for god sake.. he is one of the bests playing this kind of repertoire

  • amazing!

  • der meister spielt

    unbestritten

    unübertroffen

    göttlich

    julian bream...

  • its on the dvd-collections "my life in music" and on "history of the spanish guitar" - both by julian bream (and both really worth the money)

  • Hi folks, can anyone tell me where I can buy the whole DVD of this? What's it from? I'd love to own it!

  • None nicer nor better than the master himself.

Julian Bream is just a good as there ever was or will be.

  • This man is of course above all other guitarists!

  • Is it just me or he has unusually long left pinky which is also almost as thick as his ring finger!

  • Look at the hands of Eliot Fisk and Carlos Barbosa-Lima, same thing. It comes from playing the guitar from a young age while the hands are still developing. The playing mutates the development.
